Guest MattP Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 It's bad enough imo seeing a full grown man in a football shirt, but the full kit willy puller has made a resurgance on Merseyside. Question is, anyone here want to own up to being a FKW? http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/liverpool/136581/are-you-or-have-you-ever-been-a-full-kit-willy puller.html
LCFC FOX Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Whats wrong with wearing you teams shirt on a match day?
Matt Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Whats wrong with wearing you teams shirt on a match day? I do think the whole kit is OTT if you're not playing but no problem whatsoever with people wearing football shirts whether it's a match day or not.
Stuliasz Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 It's my preference to wear a City shirt to games but wouldn't wear the whole kit. However I can't understand why people would feel so passionately negative about those who do, there are bigger problems in the world!

Its called football, thats what fans do.
leicesterlad1989 Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 I am of the opinion that when you reach a certain age you shouldn't wear football shirts. Just to make it clear, this is my opinion... I am not sure what the "certain age is" though. Anyone else think this? I still buy the shirt, but I just wear it when I have training or any other sports activities (same with my England shirt). I think wearing the full kit as an adult is simply embarrassing. It actually makes me cringe seeing adults wearing the shirt over the top of their jumpers or coats. But each to their own, I certainly wouldn't go to the effort of pointing it out to the individual, at the end of the day its their way of showing their support. I'm ready to be shot down!

I would have said about 16, 16-25 is dubious, you can get away with it on a six a side pitch. Blokes who are 35 wandering around Tescos in a replica shirt?....well...... Anyone going to own up anyway? I know we must have a few. The full article with extra pictures is here http://richardp1975.wordpress.com/
sdb Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Not gone full kit since I was 9/10. Never wear a replica shirt now (am 25) but that's because I've hated our shirts since '03/04. If we had a good one i'd wear it occasionally, certainly to games. Don't think a shirt on older folk looks too bad on a Saturday afternoon.

I just imagine my dad, who is in his 50's wearing the shirt and it would be embarrassing. He's a die hard City fan, and is of the same opinion as me, hence he refuses to buy the shirt. Here another question to the ones who still buy shirts..At what age do you stop getting a silly name on the back of your shirt? For example, "I 8 Forest."
glenny_fox Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 I don't see what's wrong with adults wearing replica shirts at all, the sh1t that gets passed off for fashion today, in my opinion, is much worse than a shirt that represents, in most cases, where you were born and what you are passionate about. I definately wouldn't walk around doing shopping in a full kit though, that is just a bit OTT
Larry_LCFC Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 At the end of the day, if someone wants to wear a full kit then let them. Why do you care? Does it hurt you? Does it have a negative impact on your lfie? As for football fans wearing shirts to games, either your wrong or 10000000s of people who wear shirt to games around the world are wrong. Think that answers itself. If this is the biggest problem you have to worry about, you live a very sheltered life.

Larry_LCFC Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 I think we have our first. I own a replica shirt and I wear it to the game. I dont have a full kit and I would never want one. Thats not to say I dont approve of others wearing it. I really couldnt care less what other people wear.

I'm not sure if your post was aimed at me but you seem to have taken it a bit personally. I don't particularly care and it certainly doesn't hurt me, but I was merely voicing my opinion, which I clearly highlighted on my original post. No one person is right or wrong.
Haydos Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 It's FULL KIT. Why does everyone keep saying 'shirt'? A shirt is fine. Wearing shorts and shirt anywhere other than on a 5-a-side pitch definitely makes you a willy puller

davieG Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Never owned a replica shirt, mind you they weren't around when I first started going to games, you'd be lucky to find a blue shirt and sew a badge on it. Even if I felt inclined to wear one I wouldn't buy one of these polyester pieces, I don't buy or wear polyester shirts normally so I don't see why I'd want to get one of these especially at those prices, I'd expect a decent quality of cotton at the very least.
Captain... Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Only had a full kit once, that was the 94-96 premiership, relegation, promotion kit, and I hardly wore the full kit because it was blue shirts and shorts . So I've never been a FKW, I do find it quite comforting when back in Leicester to see people wearing replica shirts around, I think the full track suit is worse, they want people to think they play for the club. Nobody above the age of 15 should wear a full kit unless playing football, not even to watch a match, but wearing replica shirts down the pub is fine, I normally only wear mine for footy and running, don't normally wear them to matches.
Guest MattP Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Let's get one thing straight, the "full kit willy puller" can only apply to an Adult, we can't have 8 year old kids being subjected to shouts of it and sex offending allegations.

I still stand by my opinion on adults wearing replica shirts but what does make me laugh is the amount of pubs/bars that do not allow you in wearing City tops, especially in the city centre. I'm not sure if it is still like this now but it certainly was bad a couple of years ago.
BHAFC Braders Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 I tend to wear training kit when working out etc.. and Shorts are fantastic for lazing about in - but the whole kit? Nah and as for the "Shirt at a certain age" I guess it's down to how you feel in it , I'm considering going for the Toffs retro ones soon rather then the up to date ones
Bert Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 Once you start a full time job, you should only wear a football shirt if you're playing, or on holiday. Exception to the rule being England major tournaments.

I don't really do it myself, the last time was probably when we got relegated, but that was in a sports pub in London that showed all the 3 o'clock kick offs on different screens where everyone tended to wear their colours, gave it a good atmosphere. I just wouldn't judge anyone for doing so, went to Poland, Gdansk, for some of the Euros and everyone was wearing footy kits around the town at the beach in the pubs, gave it real colourful atmosphere especially before the Ireland Spain game.
Mack Posted 28 August 2012 Posted 28 August 2012 I did it once for a friendly game. It was hot... OK yes I looked like a willy puller.
