What has happened to our away support?

But we're not hardcore Europeans are we? We're an English team. I may.sound whiny and bitchy, I am being, but everything about that song as said earlier.is just gay. There's not a better word to describe it. More camp than a row of tents.

If you read back to this debate early this year I said the same as I say now, except that I thought it wouldnt be too bad a chant providing it gets the same fans belting out the old ones too. Something that has not happened, apart.from Norwich.

Even that day it was overused, to the point where the fans weren't even singing the words, they were just going ' oh oh oh oh ohhhh' waving their specially bought scarf around their head

I only ever hear 2 things about that day. 1)Everyone who went said it was the best away trip in years 2) Norwich fans were singing our praises (not at the match obviously, though I heard Delia was making comments about how much better we were).

So obviously, whatever we did went down pretty well. And considering I saw a few videos of us singing WLY very very loudly, obviously most people don't think it's gay. I know what you were saying last year, it's the same old rubbish as in this thread. Now, I agreed with you that WLY was overused at times last season, however, that is not really a criticism you can level at younger fans. If a significant number of the older (or younger for that matter) fans sung the older chants, they would, by definition, get sung. But they don't. If they did, WLY wouldn't be overused. It's as simple as that. People cannot complain if they don't do enough to change things. The masses have spoken.

And scalf twirling isn't exclusive to that sung, it's been done by fans for generations everywhere. And some of the old Leicester songs were done by other clubs. Not EVERY thing we do has to be unique to us, you know.

No we're not hardcore Europeans, we're pussy Europeans and we always will be if we don't go down to the footy with an open mind and a willingness to at least attempt to enjoy ourselves.

I don't like every chant or everything we do, and that goes for some of the older stuff as well. But there's no need to go round lambasting our fans and calling them 'gay' everytime you don't like something. Your negative obsession with something that actually improved our support beyond recognition at one point (do you remember how bad things were towards the end of Sven's reign?) is far more 'gay' if you ask me.

So, looking at what I've said in my last 2 posts, either there is a strangely high percentage of football fans who are gay, or you are in fact a closet homosexual who is way too insecure with your sexuality.

So all of L and K should be shot then?! It's a unique atmosphere and it gets the crowd going. Would you rather we sit down, and be as quiet as possible. Were not fvcking Reading....

I didn't actually write that I just quoted it. :D

Nothing wrong with scarf twirling. Pretty sure we probably did that 30/40 years ago.

Shame we do it to a tune half the Football League already try, and fail, to pull off too...

your not allowed now stu said...remember the rules.

This topic never stops coming up mainly due to it p*ssing most of us off! Lets be honest we have had bad away support on the whole the last few seasons. The only improvement i saw was after the man city fa cup game where we all stood and our support was brilliant. Certainly my best away day for some time. People seemed to realise how much better it is to stand and support your team. We saw that in the next few league away games where more of our suppprt started to stand and get involved vocally. Now its gone back to square one. Those who thinks standing isnt related to noise created are diluded. Blackburn was p*ss poor why? Because the majority sat. Wolves was p*ss poor why? Because the majority sat. You cant deny its not linked..but sadly i cant see it changing until the prawn sandwich brigade are banned.

We're probably going to be stuck in mid table for a third season so there's nothing to get excited about. Even a relegation scrap would create a better atmosphere. Only a local derby or a cup game is likely to rouse people.

Well that's clearly bollocks. I was there and they only sung about twice at 0-0. As you'd expect going 1-0 up late on they were louder then.

Twice more than us.

They were awful and we were worse.

Even Forest away in the cup last season was absolutely dire. Our numbers are generally very good, but noise levels are beyond bad. I wonder if we start to perform better, whether we'll start being more vocal away from home.

I fully agreed with every word of this, yet last year it appears the cup run did absolutely nothing for our away support in the league.

There's not a single excuse for it being bad at Forest last year.

Our song range holds us back completely, I don't mind some of these new songs but having them dominate our old ones, it's awful. Kitchandro makes a fair point though in fairness.

Completely agree, 8000, majority standing, and barely a peep. Couldn't believe it.

As soon as that big poznan started I realised it was going to be shit.

we'r just shit fans and will stay shit with the boring and whiny people that now go

Were not shit fans. We had like the 5th highest average home gate last season and 4th highest average away gate so I don't know why you have come to the conclusion that the fans are shit. If we were Peterborough then maybe so... We should be singing more away and home! We are whiny buggers, but all were doing atm is talking about why the away atmosphere has been so poor lately and looking at ways to make it better. If were such shit fans then go and support Man Utd... :D

I didn't think that Forest game was that bad. In the right hand corner where I was it was decent. One thing I would say is I thought having 8,000 there was a hinderance at times, you couldn't hear what we were singing from over the other side very well so it took longer than usual for any chants to catch on and spread across the whole end and to both tiers. For 8,000 it wasn't that good but it wasn't nearly as shit as some people are making out. Had we scored I'm sure it would have been unbelievable, but alas it was a pretty poor quality game.

Forest at home was the shocking one. I was flabbergasted and how poor that was.

Numbers yeah its good but atmospere wise we never get it going as good as we should be. Home atmosphere is just as shit if not worse than away.

On a slightly different track, the following table shows how low some of the home attendances have been in the Championship so far.

Middlesborough, Hull and Blackburn being particularly poor IMO.

As if that shit from Blackburn at home to us was their highest crowd of the season. lol lol

How the fvcking hell have those nobodies won the top flight?!

8,000 at your biggest rivals, there's absolutely zero excuse for it being shit and trust me I often have reasons. We weren't dreadful but for the numbers we were very average.

The home game with Forest last year killed my enthusiasm for football about as much as anything, the 0-0 anyway.

I think our home atmosphere's actually better than our away recently, and that's extremely worrying.

Wealthy backer and a talented manager. Like Man City.
