What has happened to our away support?

I think a big problem has actually been evident in this thread, a lot of the more vocal fans are not going to games and are only picking certain games. Not criticising at all but its a factor and explains why big games such as fa cup see the best atmospheres.

A high percentage of the hardcore fans, ie the ones that go every game are a certain type of supporter. They should be commended for their commitment and loyalty but unfortunately it doesn't help the atmosphere.

Until those who wish to create atmospheres attend on a regular basis we will see no improvement.

It's because a lot of the fans don't bother going anymore. It seems to be a lot younger following now that just copy other teams chants such as that palace one and the Poznan. Embarrassing stuff.

If it weren't from us younger fans doing all the "embarrassing" things like that, the stadium would be sat in silence, SILENCE, for 90 mins. The filbert street guys often moan about the new chants and the younger fans, without really contributing themselves. Then hide behind the 'those were the days' excuses.

Instead of moaning about it not being like it used to be, sing the old songs. Sing them loud enough so us young 'uns can hear them and pick them up. Have an open mind to the newer stuff. Only then will we really start to go forward.

Dont tar all us 'Filbert Street guys' with the same brush mate. I love the chants, old and new

Hit the nail on the head there. Fully agree.

They're always sung. The younger lot are too interested in getting the next rendition of we love you started.

If youre over the age of 10 and twirling a scarf around your head, you should be shot.

Learn the words to the old songs, just like you learn the words to your tinchy stryder album.

More often than not you will know the tune by reading the words

If you could list me some old songs that get sung i'd start to learn them. I'll start you off:

When your smiling

When your tired and weary (I don' know the real name, please forgive me)

We'll keep the blue flag flying high (See above)

Carry on...

Molly Malone

Bring on the Sunderland and Arsenal

Leicester Score

Iwan is a Welshman

Never felt more like singin' the blues

If I had the wings of an eagle

There's a circus in the town

Glory glory Leicester City

Those were the days

I wouldn't blame form at all. Back end of 07/08 when we went down we took the piss everywhere. Can't beat a relegation dog fight to bring out some proper support.

Ok so not so much form but midtable boredom. If we're not in a dogfight at either end people aren't going to get very excited very often.

Away in a manger no crib for a bed the little lord Jesus woke up and he said We Hate Derby and we hate Derby repeat

We are the Derby Haters

Sheep, SheepShaggers..

I never felt more like singing the blues when Leicester win and Forest lose Oh Baby you got me singing the blues.

Put it this way, at Palace & Pboro I think the home support outsung us both times. I mean that - Peterborough United's home support was noisier than ours, certainly more consistent. Palace we had our moments but yet another appalling kick-off time fvcked things IMO. Looking at the date of it this year it could be class but I say that so often about something that ends up shit.

Charlton was easily better than both. I mean easily.

Well that's clearly bollocks. I was there and they only sung about twice at 0-0. As you'd expect going 1-0 up late on they were louder then.

Hello, hello, we are the Leicester boys,

Hello, hello, we are the Leicester boys,

And if you’re a Forest fan, surrender or you die,

‘Cause we’ll all follow the Leicester!!!

No they're not. People talk about them a lot on here but you rarely hear much of a variety at the ground. And the effort from some of the people who'd know these chants isn't that great. Because if it was, they'd be sung by quite a lot wouldn't they. The people who mostly start chants at home are between 20-30. As for away games it depends which ones you go to obviously. Before this season I'd been going down regularly for about 4 years and some of the old ones mentioned in this thread have only come up a handful of times, and even then, not sung by a huge amount.

'If youre over the age of 10 and twirling a scarf around your head, you should be shot.' - what a ridiculous thing to say. Scalf twirling has been done for many, many years - by the older generation of supporters you worship so much, but other clubs fans in this day and age (the likes of Leeds and Newcastle to name a couple - are they 'embarrassing' as you so often like to put it?) and by vocal and hardcore fans around Europe. I dare you to go and tell them they're embarrassing to their faces lol

To me you just sound like one of those boring bastards that put me off going last season. You bitch and you moan that our support is too quiet and then you bitch and you moan we're singing the wrong songs. And these people they stand there shaking their heads and scowling and don't do anything about it.

If a load of old timers were singing the old songs they'd get sung, end of, but not enough do, hence why new chants have needed to be started.

In Dublins fair city, where the girls are so pretty I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone, as she wheeled her wheel barrow down streets broad n narrow, singing du du du du du du du du du leicester

Score lreicester score, when you get one we'll get more, we'll sing you assembly when we get to wembley so score leicester score

Never felt more like singing the blues when leicester win and forest lose oh leicester you got me singing the blues (I sing derby cos forest are sod all to me)

My favorite- there's a circus in the town (in the town), Robert Maxwells gone n drown (gone and drown) and Arthur Cox has got the ****in pox and Derby County's going down (going down)

Sung to head shoulders knees and toes tune lol

Wasnt being personal at you in previous posts, I just wish fans could see how gay that we love you song looks.

It says a lot about it when it's the only song the family stand know. It's an 8 year old song.

Oh and I dont know the bottom two either

such a strange attitude...all these rules about what to sing and what not to...how to act and how not too...no wonder stadiums are so quiet.

But we're not hardcore Europeans are we? We're an English team. I may.sound whiny and bitchy, I am being, but everything about that song as said earlier.is just gay. There's not a better word to describe it. More camp than a row of tents.

If you read back to this debate early this year I said the same as I say now, except that I thought it wouldnt be too bad a chant providing it gets the same fans belting out the old ones too. Something that has not happened, apart.from Norwich.

Even that day it was overused, to the point where the fans weren't even singing the words, they were just going ' oh oh oh oh ohhhh' waving their specially bought scarf around their head

Cant highlight via phone, but theres the problem 'other.clubs do it'

So all of L and K should be shot then?! It's a unique atmosphere and it gets the crowd going. Would you rather we sit down, and be as quiet as possible. Were not fvcking Reading....

Nothing wrong with scarf twirling. Pretty sure we probably did that 30/40 years ago.

Shame we do it to a tune half the Football League already try, and fail, to pull off too...
