Dan Posted 17 September 2012 Author Posted 17 September 2012 Derby away last season wasn't that good! Portsmouth are obviously not backed in numbers but make a lot of noise! Are Leeds that good at Elland Road though? Never gone, but will be this season It wasn't amazing yet it was still one of the best last year IMO, says it all. Portsmouth are a funny bunch. Don't get me wrong - I give them credit for the way they're backing the team but I stand by if we were in their position we'd do the same, and if they were in our position, they wouldn't be any better than what we are now. They've come here twice in the past couple of years, they were absolutely mediocre both times, nothing special at all. They're good at home though.
Guest MattP Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 Wednesday was average when I went, Palace last year was shit for a win, Peterborough was abysmal and Forest, considering the number we have there and the hate our fans have for them, is a bit underwhelming. The noisiest visit of mine to Palace was the 3-2 loss on the opening day two years back. I didn't get to many last year due to a lot of things but it's worrying if even Palace and Peterboro were abysmal, they were sure fire decent effort every time usually. Like I said I've only done Charlton this year and it was average, if thats being decrisbed as the best so far this year then it appears it's gone massively downhill over the last 18 months or so.
Kitchandro Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 Having not gone for many years I've always wondered why fans who want to create an atmopshere dont buy tickets together...this may be difficult as I dont know how fans go about buying tickets and how they are allocated thesedays...but with the internet and social networks would it be possible for fans to target a certain area in the away end to but tickets so they are all (more or less) together? A lot of the time you don't get a choice in my experience.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 A lot of the time you don't get a choice in my experience. No need anyway really as it's quite unusual to sit where allocated when away from home

Put it this way, at Palace & Pboro I think the home support outsung us both times. I mean that - Peterborough United's home support was noisier than ours, certainly more consistent. Palace we had our moments but yet another appalling kick-off time fvcked things IMO. Looking at the date of it this year it could be class but I say that so often about something that ends up shit. Charlton was easily better than both. I mean easily.

Always try to get nearest to the back and next to the home fans and hope others who want to create atmosphere will be there too!
RowlattsFox Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 I think we as fans need an occasion, or a game that has something riding on it.If we start doing well then I reckon away games will be fun. Generally away games this time of the season are poor as they never seem that important.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 Did yesterday have anything to do with the fact that more than half of our fans were sat down?
foxesfan1989 Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 It is tough to travel miles and then see your team lose and not enjoy yourself, which is what you would be getting so far this season. Obviously you should support through good and bad but in reality, people are going to save their money and time, and just stay at home a bit more often.
Dan Posted 17 September 2012 Author Posted 17 September 2012 Did yesterday have anything to do with the fact that more than half of our fans were sat down? More than likely, it amazes me that people deny the two are linked. I mean logically it is daft but it's so true. Our standing's generally about 50/50 these days.
kylestyle06 Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 Go straight to the back, stand , sing your heart out.. that's all you can do. No good relying on anyone else, build the atmosphere up around you.
Jace Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 Why are supporters who go to away games being criticised? Especially for TV games shouldn't they be praised instead?
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 Why are supporters who go to away games being criticised? Especially for TV games shouldn't they be praised instead? exactly, I went yesterday then some Leicester fans told me that Leicester made no noise, when there were watching it on TV. If you want some noise go to the ****ing game.
AyewJoking Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 Go straight to the back, stand , sing your heart out.. that's all you can do. No good relying on anyone else, build the atmosphere up around you. now that would be value for money.
Guest MattP Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 Why are supporters who go to away games being criticised? Especially for TV games shouldn't they be praised instead? Don't think the thread is being critical of any supporters who went yesterday. There do seem to be genuine questions to be asked about why our away support is rapidly going downhill in terms of noise created. It's a fair point to talk about.
Dan Posted 17 September 2012 Author Posted 17 September 2012 Why are supporters who go to away games being criticised? Especially for TV games shouldn't they be praised instead? That would be a bit ridiculous considering I went.
Fox92 Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 No value for money, especially as prices increase and games are on tv.
Voll Blau Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 It's because a lot of the fans don't bother going anymore. It seems to be a lot younger following now that just copy other teams chants such as that palace one and the Poznan. Embarrassing stuff. Correct. I don't think it's anything new. In the last 10 years or so we've only ever had 'great' away support once or maybe twice a season (Norwich last season for example). I think sometimes we look at our support through blue-tinted glasses. We normally travel in good numbers but that's the only good aspect of our away support. As bad as it sounds it really does come down to the demographic of our support. As someone mentioned earlier no we have quite a large proportion of elderly fans who are never going to significantly add to the atmosphere. I think having a growing element of younger supporters (14-18) is only a good thing and hopefully with a bit of success on the pitch they will stay with us and we'll have a good basis for vocal support in a few years. Although as the other poster I quoted mentioned that's problematic because 99% of kids that age haven't got a ****ing clue. Hence copying the "poznan", WLY, etc because they've seen someone else do it and think it's wacky. When kids are leading an end without older heads to school them and get proper Leicester songs going we're going to end up mimicking every other two-bit away set in this division singing the same songs as everybody else and looking like small-time twats. A unique fan culture is something to be proud of and sadly ours is slipping away to be enveloped by the generic mire of youtube shite everybody's lapping up nowadays.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 I'm picking and choosing mine this season. Peterborough Forest Hull Wednesday They should all be good if we're honest, providing we actually find some away form.
Leicesterpool Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 I've only been to one away again so far this season, reasons are 1) aren't playing very well away from home, 2) had other arrangements for that day, 3) sunday games!
Tommeh Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 We now see a much larger number of over 60's, families and under 18's populating our away ends. No disrespect but groups hardly in it for the atmosphere. Waiting for the FA Cup already. The crowd at Norwich and I'm guessing the chaps who made it to Torquay (couldn't go myself) are what our fans are all about on our day when everyone turns out for it. Do not expect anything good in the league anytime soon. We're only bothering if theres a decent weekend going ie Newcastle for Middlesborough, will look at Sheff Weds too. I'd imagine many groups of males aged 20-40 are the same, better things to do with our money.
Tommeh Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 I wouldn't blame form at all. Back end of 07/08 when we went down we took the piss everywhere. Can't beat a relegation dog fight to bring out some proper support.
dannythefox Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 Whats wrong with our away support? Everyone is probably sick to death of our shit away form for nearly 3seasons now its really starting to grind me down now to the point where I'm not fussed about if I go or not. Plus it cost a fortune now just to watch us draw or lose!
Tom17LCFC Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 I think everyone's just disillusioned with it tbh. We're just so bad away from home. One off games like the cup games are much better, so I'll be saving for the the FA Cup trips this year. Norwich last year was one of the best aways in recent times.
PeterTaylorsApprentice Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 For the past 5 seasons i've been to astleast 15 away games a season with my season ticket aswell, turned 18 now, prices for a season ticket soared to over 400 pound for the season, put me off buying one, and yet again, the amount of money for a ticke now i'm classed as an 'adult' with travel/food etc is outrageous, i can afford it, but i am not willing to go to see performances which i am not convinced that all 11 players are putting there full effort into, Forest seems to be the only game away i'll be going too, i may sound like a bad fan, but this is reality.
