Babylon Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 After everyone jizzing over him for a few weeks suddenly everyone's concerned about his performances. I wasn't. In fact I posed a question about his all round game. My opinion is whilst a decent player, his long range efforts have distorted peoples opinions some what. I don't think there is any comparison between those two players from what I have seen so far. How Knockaert handles being man marked, and having two players on him will be the real test.
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Anyone listening to the phone-in? I'm tempted to ring in and tear Alan Young apart. He's just said that Knockaert shouldn't start for us away from home.. Where do i begin..

MarkHowieLCFC Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 I'm hoping knockout is our version of QPRs Taarabt when then got promoted. He seems to be confident and wants to make things happen and it makes the team better as a whole.

He starts two games at home and we score 5 in two games. We've played positively away from home but lacked any real penetration and spark. Plus the fact he keeps the ball as well as anyone in our squad, and retaining it away from home is much more important. For me Knockaert is integral, and the team should largely be built around him.
MarkHowieLCFC Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Plus he's already getting a reputation of being quality and that's gonna scare defenders...meaning they'll double or triple up on marking him, that just frees up others :-)
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Yeah, fairly simple really. The Burnley commentators said he's the 'best player they've seen this year' and i'm sure the Hull lot would have felt the same given how good his performance was.
Corky Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Anyone listening to the phone-in? I'm tempted to ring in and tear Alan Young apart. He's just said that Knockaert shouldn't start for us away from home.. Where do i begin.. Why? At Charlton he set up Dyer for what should've been a goal, sent in a fine cross for Vardy's disallowed goal at Blackburn and helped us get a foothold back in the game at Wolves. He's in form, he should start.
MarkHowieLCFC Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 The way he plays looks a class above anyone in this league...and it brings the best out of the rest of the team. He'll give the ball away on occasions but its after a run that's taken us into the final third, with 2 or 3 closing him down...

MarkHowieLCFC Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 We've not had a player like this ever I don't think! we'll be lucky to keep a player of this quality. Play him while he's still ours
Corky Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 That's what i'm saying... I know, my Why? was asking what Alan Young feels is enough to not give him a start away from home.
Grey Fox Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 I'm hoping knockout is our version of QPRs Taarabt when then got promoted. He seems to be confident and wants to make things happen and it makes the team better as a whole. I was saying this to my brother earlier. He can be like Adam Lallana was for Southampton, or like you say, Taarabt before him. It's still early days, but the signs are good so far.
Deucalion Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Ok, just to be devil's advocate, don't you think sometimes instead of playing an easier pass, Knockeart tries to run through gangs of defenders with the ball?

MarkHowieLCFC Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Ok, just to be devil's advocate, don't you think sometimes instead of playing an easier pass, Knockeart tries to run through gangs of defenders with the ball? Yep I agree, but it's usually in the final third, and having a gang of players surrounding him takes markers off other forward players.
Corky Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Ok, just to be devil's advocate, don't you think sometimes instead of playing an easier pass, Knockeart tries to run through gangs of defenders with the ball? He does sometimes, but also he's shown he can play that pass- to Waghorn at Wolves and a couple of time yesterday to Vardy.

Yeah, only have to look at the chances and goals scored from Blackburn onwards. I'd say he's played a part in pretty much all of them. Vardy's disallowed one at Blackburn, the through ball to Vardy against Burnley. The waghorn chance vs Wolves, Vardy twice against Hull that he missed. Nugent's header yesterday. May at times be greedy, but out of our players i'm more likely to forgive him for being greedy occasionaly given how good his decision making is most of the time in the final third.
I blame Wellens Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 Thanks Knocky! you have gave a miserable moaning git something to cheer about. A midfielder that demands the ball and then wants to go forward. Simple and the thing we have been missing. And its nice to be carried away as its a long time since a player put in a performance that "excites" us. I just hope that he does not have a dip in form because there is a certain player who is making his way back to fitness that loves that 10 yard pass back to the centre backs. I do think it's a shame that Nigel and Danns can't hug it up because I do think with Kingy, Danns, Drinkwater Marshall, (although he is of course massively overrated), Dyer ( as an impact player) and Knocky we must have a bloody great midfield somewhere in there.
ealingfox Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 the whole 'Premiership Clubs will come sniffing thing'. They are indeed not real words. It was a gentle attempt at creating a 'Knockaert is a liability so don't come sniffing' chain, primarily for our own amusement. I am well aware Prem Clubs won't take such a thread seriously. It was just a joke, for which I apologise. Sincerely, though, I thought Knock was simply outstanding yesterday. Inventive, tricky and constantly involved. He brightened up the King Power, and I hope he is with us for a long time. **** me I can't remember the last time a joke flew that far over my head. My bad mate.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 It's A Knockaert... latest installment of 'The Post Horn Gallop' on why Knockaert's the man to lead us to our first away points of the season: http://www.theposthorngallop.blogspot.co.uk/ @posthorngallop

Errrrrrrrr, Marshall? If so, that's quite a comment to make haha.
Babylon Posted 25 September 2012 Posted 25 September 2012 Errrrrrrrr, Marshall? If so, that's quite a comment to make haha. I think he is as well, decent player but the way people go on you'd think he was some amazing superstar. Some crackers from distance aside he's mostly been just steady IMO.
