Parafox Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 The lowest age of consent I could find was 12 in the following countries: Angola Mexico Vatican State Zimbabwe 12 is the lowest age of consent in these countries, usually based on circumstances such as both partners being close to the same age. The average age of consent world wide is 16.

Reynard Bleu Posted 8 October 2012 Posted 8 October 2012 ....and would we treat homosexual or lesbian sex any differently?
Finnegan Posted 8 October 2012 Posted 8 October 2012 ....and would we treat homosexual or lesbian sex any differently? No. Don't understand why anyone would even need to ask.
Reynard Bleu Posted 8 October 2012 Posted 8 October 2012 No. Don't understand why anyone would even need to ask. Because for a long long time we did.
Bayfox Posted 8 October 2012 Posted 8 October 2012 Does anyone else find the fact we let people who are not deemed old enough to have a drink or drive are deemed fit enough to impart wisdom on kids when still kids themselves. For the record i met my now wife when she was 15 i'm 2 years older. She was out for her 16th birthday later that week. We waited until she was 17 before she felt ready. I was happy with that. I consider us 2 well balanced individuals and i had explored in the pasf at a much younger age but really don't think any 13/14 y/o and even 15/16 is ready for parent hood. If i had had kids at that age i don't think we would stood the test of time. I accept everyone is different but i do think a rise in the age to at least 17 poss 19 would help but i do think it would take several generations to ingrain into society.

You obviously do not accept that people are different at all. If you seriously think that criminalising more kids for doing nothing more than fvcking is in their best interest then you clearly have no comprehension of the issue.
Nick Posted 8 October 2012 Posted 8 October 2012 Dave made we wait till he was ready - I wasn't happy with that.
Daggers Posted 8 October 2012 Posted 8 October 2012 The man that inserted his finger up my arsehole was certainly put off by the fact that I was 12. If the legal limited was 19 then he'd left me alone for another 7 years.
LCFCCHRIS Posted 8 October 2012 Posted 8 October 2012 I think it should be raised to 17, it's only a year however I was a lot more mature when I was 17 then 16 (obviously different for everyone)

Captain... Posted 8 October 2012 Posted 8 October 2012 From living in Spain and teaching kids of all ages what surprised me wasn't so much that the age of consent was 14, more that the 14 year olds I taught didn't seem that interested in sex, I remember when I was 15 the jokes and the comments and the pressure to have sex was very clear, especially in the badge of honour that was losing your cherry before you were 16. I don't know what it is like for 15 year old girls, but I imagine it was something similar. Now I don't know why it was like that in Spain, and it may have just been the kids I taught, but even around 15/16 when they legally could have been fvcking for years, they still had that childish attitude to the opposite sex. I do wonder if by having the age of consent so low at 14 it removes some of the pressure to have sex, as most 14 year olds are still obsessed with football and pop stars. Or it may be completely unrelated, another thing that I noticed though, because I was originally shocked that it was so low, was that a lot of Spanish people don't know the age of consent in Spain. Again this might be related or not, and it may have a lot more to do with the much stronger family values and societal ties they have in Spain. I don't know if changing the age of consent would change things, I think we need to change our attitude in general to sex, have more open and frank discussions about it, at school and at home, take away the mystique and the taboo, and start education on it younger. I had my first sex education class in my last year at primary school, when I was 10, but I am not sure if this is normal, and I don't remember having many more at secondary school, apart from the cucumber condom class, and the video with the pepperpot technique. But it was the first few classes when I was ten about condoms and stds and everything else that had the biggest impact.
Daggers Posted 8 October 2012 Posted 8 October 2012 Always amuses me that it's the right-wing ****** who'll argue for a law to ban sex but will say that we should leave business to regulate itself...as if legislation against sex will ever work.

If you seriously think that criminalising more kids for doing nothing more than fvcking is in their best interest then you clearly have no comprehension of the issue. So if a kid of 15 thinks fcuking is in there best interests thats fine just ignore it then? There are a lot of issues in our society but they seem to be worse in this country. Southern europe has lower ages of consent but not loads of kids running round getting pregnant. My parents live out in italy where the age of consent is 14 but being pregnant at that age would be to bring shame on the family and is not rewarded or seen as a life style choice as it is in this country. For the record i think the age limit for drinking in this country is too high again parts of europe have a more liberal view on drinking but not half as many issues as we do. I would lower it as long as parents/pub owners had a control on it, allowing say 15y/o to go into a pub with parents and have say maybe a pint or 2 in a sensible controlled environment. On the continent drinking with meals is common yet dispite the fact we have a law saying i can allow my 3y/o to drink with her meal if i choose. Can you imagine the looks i would get in public. Yet parents are willing to turn a blind eye to a 14y/o down the park drinking whatever they can get there hands on. Then getting down to it with a young girl. Not sure i'm ok with that.

Don't the bulk of the stats show that the UK is 'worst' or very nearly across all sorts of health and social dimensions? Teenage pregnancies, under age binge drinking, binge drinking per se, obesity, heart disease, burglary , smoking etc etc... If people want to accept this as some sort of 'liberal society' then fine. I find it a little alarming.

But I disagree with what you've said, and i'll tell you why. I used to chat with this 15 year old Spanish bird online (i was also 15, honestly), and she was a proper slag. Getting her back doors caved in and all sorts. I had her on MySpace for a few years and she grew into a tidy bit of totty and got married at 21 to some semi-pro tennis player. But I'll always remember her for being an absolute ****ing slut and from the stories she told, they were all at it

The point was from my experience, but of course there are exceptions, now the exceptions could have been the kids from good homes who could afford to be sent to private English classes, or the cyber slut. Don't know. I was just passing on my experience. Likewise you are yours. This 15 year old cyber slut, did she seen capable and informed in her decisions? Or was she being taken advantage of? Because that is what the law is there to stop, people being taken advantage of. For that to work though kids need to be aware of what it means to be taken advantage of, and this is another difference between here and that other place, the attitude towards sex is much more open, you can quite happily see pornographic scenes and nudity in the middle of the day on the main channels, and hardcore porn is on every night of the week. People talk about English sexual repression, and it is true to an extent, we don't like talking about in a serious manner, it is a joke or something sordid and seedy to be experienced with the lights off.
Finnegan Posted 9 October 2012 Posted 9 October 2012 People chat shit on the internet, Moose is the perfect example, some would be tart claiming she ****s everything that moves is just as likely some grooming pervert in his fifties than a genuine teenage girl.
