Rincewind Posted 26 October 2012 Posted 26 October 2012 I read a short Sci-Fi story some time ago and it portrayed a good system. A spaceship landed on a colony and mingled with the people. They had a sort of barter system. A person repaide a house and got paid in vegtables and if somebody did a favour they owed the other equivalant when they needed their skill. It ended with some of the spaceship company staying because of it An ideal world I know and probably many flaws but everyone just had what they needed.

Russian and Chinese and Korean communism weren't communisim at all. Just look at how many women were making decisions for those governments. Firstly I didn't quote Cuba or any other country as an example. There aren't any. Humans (myself included) are far too greedy and self serving to even contemplate it. Secondly a 2 week holiday hardly constitutes a thorough investigation of a country's system - have you ever had 2 weeks in Skeg? Thirdly If a doctor was cleaning your toilet out for extra cash why would you even suggest that Cuba was an example of the system that I hypothesized?
Guest Posted 26 October 2012 Posted 26 October 2012 I'm surprised how much coverage "racism" and "potential racism" gets both on here and in the wider world when a far greater evil has been and is still being comitted against a majority population in nearly every country in the world. Look at the history of women and you'll find far greater inequality and atrocities. And those are perpetuated on this site (by myself included) on a daily basis.
