21st Century Fox Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Surely the joke is at the expense of the 2 racist troopers who think that black people come from eggs? Good point.
ADK Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I'm not sure if anybody bothered to read these MoJ links but they really should - it's the most revealing post in the thread so far. +1 So black people get stopped, arrested convicted and sent to jail more in comparison to any other race. In fact having black skin seems to make you 5 times more likely than the average Brit to end up in jail. Not sure what the conclusion is though? People will argue that the police are simply targetting blacks more than any other race and therefore it is harder to get away with crime if you are black. Others will argue that the blacks in this country simply commit more crimes per capita and that the police are right to target them.
Guest MattP Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Or does it stem from the racist term 'eggplant'? Eggplant is a racist term? wtf?
Captain... Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Surely the joke is at the expense of the 2 racist troopers who think that black people come from eggs? This is how I always interpreted it, but not everyone does, it normally helps if the delivery of the punch line is done in a thick Texas drawl. As for the third one, the inference is that black people can't read, but when I first heard I couldn't help but laugh, because it was such an unexpected punchline, not because I agree with the sentiment.
Guest MattP Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I guess you dont think racism has any links to history.....which is odd. It's quite staggering young black men who do nothing more than kick footballs around for millions of pounds can even be remotly compared to victims of the Slave Trade when it comes to "oppression", the World has gone absolutely fcuker bonkers.
Finnegan Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Eggplant is a racist term? wtf? ... You didn't know that? Someone link the porch monkey scene from Clerks?

MPH Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Saw this thread early yesterday and its been a long time since my eyes have rolled at a FT thread... here was me hoping the biggots were not actually being biggots and trying to justify their rancid behavior and that this somehow wasnt going to be a thread discussing racism. Again. on Foxestalk. for the 100th time.
Nick Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Eggplant is a racist term? wtf? Yeah it's an Italian slur - eggplants have black skin and from the direct translation, 'moolie and eggplant' - and egglet (black children) are often used as racial slurs. Fantastic movie scene to illustrate:
Guest MattP Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Superb film, never remembered the insult though. Presume that's where Moulinghar comes from as well then.

I don't think it's a comparison it's the remnants in society of inequality.
Guest MattP Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I don't think it's a comparison it's the remnants in society of inequality. Speaking to Garth Crooks and Rio Ferdinand you wonder.
purpleronnie Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I don't think it's a comparison it's the remnants in society of inequality. Exactly.
flowwolf Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 'so next time I call someone a Black bastard' Maybe just dont? Hang on Betts I would never say such a thing ,it was just an analogy. But I think you knew that anyway ?
flowwolf Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Or does it stem from the racist term 'eggplant'? Christ your up yourself tonight
flowwolf Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I don't think it's a comparison it's the remnants in society of inequality. And it does not come more unequal than someone who is good at kicking a football around and earning millions of pounds while someone who works bloody hard for a living to support his family earns enough just to keep his head above water ? That is true inequality in society never mind what colour they are. Get a bloody grip.
Bettsj2 Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Hang on Betts I would never say such a thing ,it was just an analogy. But I think you knew that anyway ? Its Bettsj2. Do you have something against numbers too? 💩

MooseBreath Posted 26 October 2012 Posted 26 October 2012 What we need is some real problems to give us some perspective and make us realise how petty and pathetic we have become when dealing with the issue. Unless there is some obvious negative discrimination then 'racism' isn't even offensive. Calling someone a black bastard is no more offensive than calling someone a fat bastard. And don't give me that history bullshit, it's 2012, if you're not ready to move the **** on now then just kill yourself because the world doesn't need your self hating apologist bullshit.
purpleronnie Posted 26 October 2012 Posted 26 October 2012 But fat people can do something about being fat, History bullshit.
MooseBreath Posted 26 October 2012 Posted 26 October 2012 But fat people can do something about being fat, History bullshit. It is bullshit, especially when you are just picking and choosing certain parts of history to suit your apologist agenda. If you're going to treat people based on historical relationships then there's not going to be one single race, nationality or religion who you don't hold some kind of prejudice for or against, and often you're going to find yourself conflicted due to perhaps hundreds of different historical events between two sets of people. Trying to take into account everything that has happened in the history of time and using it as a context in which you base your present relationships is frankly ludicrous.
Rincewind Posted 26 October 2012 Posted 26 October 2012 I agree to some degree but it is easy to say to others 'forget it' when it is not happening to you. I have never seen what purpose is served by belittling someone because of their race, colour, creed social status or looks. To me people are people. If a person is decent I don't look any further. We cannot help where we are born or what colour we are. We CAN do something about it and that something is education. We are one race. The Human Race.

Strive for a society of equal pay where each person does an available job his/her skills best suit.
