Guest Col city fan Posted 24 October 2012 Posted 24 October 2012 Yeah, the Force have been looking at and taking advice on options on how to deal with this since before Christmas when the report came out. There have been a few ideas around training and the possibility of community panels to judge independent complaints made about stop and search incidents. this isn't a new thing - as a white male growing up around the City I was barely stopped at all - many of my non - white friends tell a very different story involving being stopped a couple or more times a week and feeling like their freedom of movement and liberty was invaded unjustly. I hope the Police are able to reflect on their practice and change institutionalised behaviours in regard to this moving forward. Good job you didn't drive a Ford Escort RS Turbo as a fella in his early twenties. As a white bloke, driving through Leicester, I was stopped every bloody week. Loved that car but had to sell it. It literally wasn't worth the aggro. Not on one single occassion was I warned, prosecuted for any misdemeanour. Just someone of my age driving the car was enough for the cops.

Dunno, I don't consider myself Indian, India has over 200 races, the race I come from is Sikh, Sikhs have the highest litracy, wealth and second lowest crime rate of all south asians. Strong Family values, cultural and possibly religious values aswell. Most Sikhs came from generally poor to very working class backgrounds and came to UK as econimical migrants, the UK is far more affluent, and basically to earn more money its is easier being educated. Plus were a very competitive race, which has struggled against invaders, multiple empires and multiple attempts of genicide, so we won't go down and will always strive to be the best!! PLus going to prison or doing crime would bring shame to your family, and race, and you would be ostricised!!

flowwolf Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I think what purpleronnie is saying is that it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, if there was statistically an equal chance of finding drugs or guns on a person regardless of race, then if you stop and search more black guys than white guys, the figures will show more black guys are caught with drugs from random searches than white guys, then you start to focus more on searching black guys due to criminal profiling, more black guys are convicted of having drugs or guns, and then it swings even further to suggest that more black guys should be stopped and searched. If you don't stop any white guys, then the statistics will show that no white guys have been convicted from a random stop and search, so they are not effective. If you get what I mean. So all the reports both on tv and newspapers that clearly state that Black Afro communities in this country have a major problem with gangster type gun crime should have no relevance on how the police carry out the duties ?
