Babylon Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Too busy lighting cuban cigars with £50 notes and bossing his butler about.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 The entire foxestalk left wing army And the award for most boringly predictable post of the decade goes to... What about us sensible middle of the road types? Oh yeah, I forgot. We get all full barrels from both sides.
Charl91 Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I bloody hate wine tasters. One of the few things that really angers me. http://wine.about.com/od/winebasic1/ht/winetasting.htm Just drink the fvking stuff. I don't describe my diet-pepsi to people every time I'm drinking it.

Do you get angry at car magazines and programs for reviewing cars? Which? must drive you nuts, all that reviewing of different appliances??

I don't describe my diet-pepsi to people every time I'm drinking it. I always let a good wine breathe for 15 mins before a steak. Nothing wrong with that. Far as I'm concerned it's part of the price you pay in a restaurant or part of the corkage fee.

That's because all diet Pepsi tastes the same and everyone knows what that taste is, shit. To be honest I have never been bothered by wine tasters, as I don't go to wine tastings, I can appreciate a good red from a bad, but I don't have a sophisticated palette when it comes to wine, can't really tell the difference between anything over about 7 quid they are all good.
Jon the Hat Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 Too busy lighting cuban cigars with £50 notes and bossing his butler about. Being rude to the staff is very low class and completely unnecessary if you hire the right ones in the first place. The right ones know their place.

It is worrying I think I'm spending too much time on here, I knew who posted that without having to look at the name, or sig or anything else.

It's just a drink made with grapes; the furthest it should ever go is "this one tastes nice, try it". If I have to hear about the rich fruity texture then I'm going to want to blow my brains out. I know some people who collect whisky just because they like the smell (they don't actually like whisky), it drives me crazy.

You won't say that if you drink a really good Allegrini La Pogra or Domaine.

Perhaps you are mixing with the wrong people??
MooseBreath Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 I don't know anything about wine but i've been to a couple of wine tasting events. They are basically just excuses to get pissed without being surrounded by chavs/gypos/benefit scum. Unashameadely (sp?) pretentious, they are.

MooseBreath Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 It contracting, so technically self employed, but as I have all expenses covered by the client and have no real overheads, what I get as a daily rate I extrapolate out as a wage, and pro rata, if I work 5 days a week every week of the year it works out as a six figure sum. But I don't, such as at the moment where I am currently on a bit of down time before the next project kicks in. So your day rate is approx £400. Not bad, not bad at all. What kind of percentage of time have you been in a contract since you started doing it?

I'm looking at doing the same myself to save some money for travelling
Captain... Posted 25 October 2012 Posted 25 October 2012 So your day rate is approx £400. Not bad, not bad at all. What kind of percentage of time have you been in a contract since you started doing it? Well that depends on if you take a 6 figure salary to mean exactly £100,000 but yeah you're not far off. Since coming back into the it world I have been in contract almost solidly for a year any breaks have been my own holidays, but I don't get paid then. It is only now I have had some significant down time, which has been 2 weeks without work, and now 2 weeks only charging for 2 days, for self training. It is not bad, but you have no rights, no pension no sick pay nor said holidays. It is amazing how healthy you can be when it is the difference between a few hundred quid or not. I am also at the lower end of the scale due to being out the market for 3 years pissing around in Spain, I have had colleagues on 650-900 a day... Not bad is it.

I'm looking at doing the same myself to save some money for travelling Business systems, I'm an expert in a piece of software called movex, or m3, it is similar to SAP, but not as good although catching up. I am not a programmer more systems analyst, a mixture of analysis, interrogation, support, training, configuration, basic SQL and visual basic skills but nothing really technical.

I have a contractor working for me at the moment (SAP BA stuff really). He is taking Jan-April off to go to New Zealand, watch some cricket and chill out. Git. I will employ when he comes back as well if I can get the CFO to sign it off. I am jealous really.

That's the best part of working for yourself. I've just thought sod it and did test matches in Australia and Sri Lanka this last 18 months and doing NZ in March. One thing I'll really miss if I have to start working for someone else again.
