Yeah me too, in a way.

He doesn't deserve the Lotus drive ahead of Hulkenberg and possibly Perez too but it's going to be fvcking entertaining.

Maldonado and Grosjean in the same team lol

Hulkenberg has rejoined Force India, after only one year at Sauber. Suppose it was the only way for him to remain in F1 after missing out for Lotus.

Double points to be awarded at the season finale next year, as well as drivers being given permanent numbers.

Why should one race be worth more than the others . Disagree big style

Permanent numbers? So Vettel will always be number 1? Or are they going to pick their own number like some footballers pick squad numbers? I don't like that, I like the champion being 1 etc.

I believe that every driver is asked to pick a number, in order of this years championship standings, with number 1 being reserved for the reigning champion. For example, if Alonso was to win the 2014 WDC, he would have the option of running number 1 during the 2015 season.

Man, I hate the double points idea. How stupid is that!?

An unfortunate retirement in Abu Dhabi and that's probably championship over for anyone.

Almost as bad as Ecclestone's '1 point for a win' idea a few years back.

I like it, and don't quite understand how it can be unfair if someone retires in Abu Dhabi. It's not as though they've created the rule mid-season, they'll go into next year and the final race knowing that you need a 50pt lead. How exactly is it different to when the points changed in 2010 to 25-18-15 etc. from 10-8-6? I don't recall hearing any moaning that its unfair if going into the last race, somebody has a 15pt lead, retires and with that loses the championship whereas under the old system he'd still have won?

It would be like making the final games of the football league worth 6 points.

Changing the points from 10-8-6 to 25-18-15 didn't matter because it was consistent amongst races. You could add 5 zeroes to each points place and make it 2,500,000 for a win and 1,800,000 for a second etc and it wouldn't change anything.

What ADK said.

Plus some cars are more suited to Abu Dhabi... why should they gain an advantage?

Seems like it's been done just to stop Vettel winning it so early, which is interesting because neither this season nor 2011 would it have made any real difference.

Perez has joined Force India, partnering Hulkenberg.

Just the two seats at Sauber, two at Caterham and one at Marussia left to be filled.

Now looks very likely that Paul di Resta will not have a drive next season.

If they have double points, they should have 2 races at half distance at the final track.

A better idea, maybe they could do that at more tracks, have 2 shorter faster races, variety is what is needed, the problem is the Red Bull just seems superior in all categories so it doesn't matter if you have lots of twists and turns, or lots of long fast straights.

With pit stops now only about tyres, strategy is largely out the window, the whole tyres thing is bollocks too, it's like making athletes running a lap of the 1500 in bare feet. To be honest the qualifying sessions are now more exciting than the races as you don't know how it is going to end up until the last minute, whereas the race is often decided before half way through.

If they want to shake things up, I would add points for qualifying, give points for the fastest lap of the race, at least then there would be something to compete for when the positions are finalised, so it stops becoming a tyre conserving procession.
