Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 December 2012 Posted 23 December 2012 Or we take chances that are easy for goalkeepers to save hence we make them look good? There have been a few of those too (hence our high ratio of shots on target against goals scored) but littered amongst those have been some very good saves.
Danizen Posted 23 December 2012 Posted 23 December 2012 To those of you saying he'll save us more points than he'll cost us this season: can you name a single game this season, a single one, where Schmeichel has won us points when you're standard average Championship goalkeeper wouldn't have? He made a great save against Derby when it was 2-1. With our apparent mental fragility, it would have been a different game if they'd got level. Other than that, no.
Charl91 Posted 23 December 2012 Posted 23 December 2012 I think I started a similar thread to this at the end of last season and got shot down for it. I wouldn't get rid of Kasper, but he is pretty overrated. Certainly not the best keeper in the division.
jamesmilner Posted 23 December 2012 Author Posted 23 December 2012 People talking about kaspers kicking are a joke! Where the f**k is he meant to kick it!?!? It can only be put in an area the outfielders have to do the rest! And it not as if i see the full backs or midfielders coming short and really looking for the ball...?!?! You people have no idea about goalkeeping! i have actually forgot more about football than you know . what a pathetic comment .
whoareyaaa Posted 23 December 2012 Posted 23 December 2012 Morgan's distribution is a lot worse... he gave away possession numerous times yesterday. there is nothing wrong with Kaspers throws and all keepers never place a goal kick at the players feet every single time.
Dan Posted 23 December 2012 Posted 23 December 2012 Whilst he makes some brilliant saves (but I swear he makes less these days) his distribution really is abysmal, it literally goes out for a throw in more often than it doesn't, it's about time one of the defenders dropped deep and he played it short, playing it long gets us nowhere because even when it stays on we've got two forwards who never win it in the air. Valid criticism this IMO but.. he's not a bad player at all.
cc_star Posted 23 December 2012 Posted 23 December 2012 Last night on the Football League Show Manish said that City seem to be regularly coming up against keepers on form in the last few weeks. This seems to be true, but what I've also noticed is that I can't remember the last time Schmichael made such good saves. This isn't so much a criticism of Schmichael, more that our opposition also seem to be getting very easy chances on goal with Schmichael having little chance and nothing else to do besides. I'm pretty sure it's a fact that we have conceded the fewest shots on goal in the division, with that in mind Kasper is pretty under-worked in comparison to the keeper we face Adding up the comments where people say Kasper has made a key save it seems that his 'match winning' saves over the whole half season so far add up to what our opposition keepers do in a single match. Add that to the fact his distribution costs us possession which invites opponents attacks. I've seen nothing from him in this season which is much improved over the last, to suggest he's even an average keeper... Almost every keeper we've faced has been worked twice as hard as our own keeper and aside from a save against Derby, he's not kept us in anything. Where's his performances like Blackburn, Charlton, Wolves, Blackpool, Cardiff keepers who've almost single handedly won it for their teams despite their teams being second best in the match He's not the worst player in the first 11 though
L1HT Posted 23 December 2012 Posted 23 December 2012 When you do something shit a work, you know you've done something shit and the last thing you want is a colleague running halfway across the factory/office to tell you you're shit. But thats what this drama queen does. Remember his 1st 2 games running to the halfway line to bollok players. Imagine a new workmate doing that. The blokes a drama queen who is no doubt desperate to get on tv. If we win against a shite team, no1 is interested in the goalie doing a lap of honour at the end. Think its pretty obvious what other pplayers think of him when Knockeart had a go V someone shit about 2 months ago.
Sampson Posted 23 December 2012 Posted 23 December 2012 This is what's brilliant about football. I think you couldn't be more wrong. We'd be mid-table if it wasn't for Kasper. I think you would be very much alone in that;. Again, where are the examples of the points he's saved us this season? And given you think we'd be midtable without him they'd have to more than make up for the points he cost us against Wolves, Palace and Barnsley.
