A taste of things to come

People need to drop the notion that they are entitled to choose whatever career they want and get paid loads to do it.

People should choose the career they want and not base it on money, enjoying what you do will always lead you to being better at your job. Being better at your job will always lead to earning more money.

The last thing you should do is choose a career based on how much money you will earn at the end of it.

Min wage is enough to live. Net pay of about 850ish I think. Not enough to raise a large family in a detached suburban house in a nice area with good schools, but enough to live.

Depends where you're living - my rent at the moment is £238 pcm but that's for a house of 7. Looking at 1 person houses and I was looking at ~500pcm, in Bradford - which is meant to be cheap as chips, so I dread to think what rent would be like down south.

£6.08 x 40hrs = £850?

Minimum wage isn't as high as it should be. It's been going down over the last 5 years in real terms as have all wages, whilst benefits increase with inflation.

That is what I was referring to. People keep saying that the unemployed are shirkers and scroungers for claiming benefits when they are only a small percentage that are claiming and the biggest percentage are those working and on min wage.

As for being their own fault, when I was at school degrees were not available to everyone. There were five forms in my school and only the top two took GCSE's and only grammar schools gave out A and O levels..

Anyway just got a programme on BBC2 showing a London taxi driver spending time in Mumbai as a taxi driver. I can see why they would prefer England. The bloke teaching him just took 20 Rupees when the metre showed 25 which is 25p. The traffic is terrible.

The tax free allowance is too low. What's the point in taking money off people in tax and then giving it back to them in benefits. You get people who earn a low wage and receive benefits who have no motivation to work harder and earn more because any increase in their salary will be offset by a decrease in their benefits.

You're starting to sound like a lefty there.

Lowering taxes and decreasing welfare are classic policies of the right?

It's about £200 a week i think? That dosn't seem too bad.

lol

As a single person in a shared house with no responsibilities, yes.

Trying to live on your own in rackrented accommodation with any sort of responsibilities, no.

You could survive on it but it's not a living wage.

But increasing the tax free limit is very much a lib-dem policy.

Lib Dems arnt left wing though, and i can't see how lowering taxation is a left wing ideal.

Lower taxes on the poor, which is what Moose is saying by increasing the tax free limit, (then increase taxes on the rich).

More Tory than the Tories?

This current crop is the least Conservative brand of it we have ever seen.

Jesus, their women are ugly and their men look like kebab shop greaseballs. Why can't we ever have immigrants from countries where the women are good looking and sexually liberal?

Because they aren't the sort whose offsprings will vote Labour.

There are plenty of them, but they don't sell papers, well unless they get their tits out, but generally they have come over here to work.

Nice to see you're not being the racist you don't claim to be.

I'd love to know how you'd be getting on with your life in such an environment boasting a whopping unemployment rate of up to 70 percent.

And to answer your question: Can't tell whether good-looking and sexually liberal women would fall for a guy like you.
