Deucalion Posted 13 April 2013 Posted 13 April 2013 I quite like cooking and I often experiment with things. I had some cod roe I wanted to batter but I wasn't sure how to make it. I read up on it a little on the internet and found out that the reason beer is put in batter is not only for the taste, but also because it contains gas which makes the battle go fluffy when you add it to hot oil. The only problem was, I haven't got any beer. Anyway, this dish I have invented today is... Ocean Cod Roe in a crackle in the mouth tonic water and tangy lemon batter. Anyone else invented any dishes?
Webbo Posted 13 April 2013 Posted 13 April 2013 Peanut butter and plain crisps sandwiches, does that count?
marko Posted 13 April 2013 Posted 13 April 2013 Guinness is good in batter. Also, try some yeast, touch of sugar and beer in your next batter - it's very good.
I am Rod Hull Posted 13 April 2013 Posted 13 April 2013 I love cooking, its brill. Spicy bean minestrone soup type thing. Fry a finely chopped onion in a little oil with some lazy chilli and garlic until softened. Transfer into a large saucepan and add 1 tin of chopped tomatoes, 2 tins of kidney beans, 1 tin of butter beans, a big blob of tomato sauce, 2 veg stock cubes in 500ml of boiling water and seasoning (I use dried thyme, pepper and salt). Let it start to simmer on a low heat and then add crushed spaghetti. Simmer on a low heat until the spaghetti cooked. That`ll cost you around £1.50 and it`ll serve around 4 people. Tastes better than anything from a can.

Captain... Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 I invent food all the time, then forget what I've invented, it is invariably nice to gorgeous, although occasionally inedible, chuck in any good fresh ingredients, a load of spices (the good ones full of flavour not just heat), some meat, taste it, add something else, pepper, lemon juice, Philadelphia and then you get a typical tasty blob, serve with pasta or rice or salad. Be careful with eggs though, have ruined a few dishes by thinking an egg in there would be perfect.
Darkon84 Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 Bite the ends off a Twix, then suck your tea through it, then devour the finger in one, nicely softened, half melted go!
