Leicester_Numan Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 I've never said that I love Pearson, I've simply supported him whilst he was doing a good job. If you can find any posts from me defending him for this catastrohpic run we've been on since January, then please point them out - because I haven't. I think our form since the end of January has been a disgrace and if we don't make playoffs as a minimum, he should be sacked. When the facts change, I change my opinion. What do you do? And yes, I was a big supporter before this run because for almost the entire season we'd been in the playoffs and challenging for automatic promotion at some points. And I will still support the manager until he is sacked - like I have done with every other manager of this club. It's easy for you to paint everyone who doesnt' slag off Pearson or want him immediately sacked as a 'happy clapper' or a 'Pearson bummer' - the truth is, some of us are more pragmatic. If the board were going to sack Pearson then they should have done it before the international break and gotten in a new manager asap to work with the players. There's no point in sacking him with about 4 games to go, with no-one lined up and a bunch of absolutely desperately shite names on the shortlist. The thing that pisses me off most about you is your complete double standards. Nigel is a failure for not getting us into the top two, but Sven isn't a failure even though we were never in the top 6. Sven isn't a failure for not getting us into the playoffs because he took over a shit team, but Pearson is a failure for not getting us into the playoffs last season. I can accept your blind, irrational vendetta against Nigel Pearson, even if I do think it's absolutely bizarre, what I can't accept is your love for a manager who isn't even here anymore and achieved precisely NOTHING at this club, leaving us with an absolute mountain of debt. Sven Goran Errikson is one of the biggest conmen in football and he's got you, hook, line and sinker. Good Post

So one more time..............His appointment may have been wrong, his sacking most certainly was wrong at the time, the reappointment of Pearson was wrong as was hanging on to him after last season ended in a damp squib and hanging on to him after the failure to get within a sniff of the automatic positions WHEN IT COUNTS not when it doesn't is wrong which means almost everything done in the name of football at Leicester City since King power took over has been wrong. This is not about to change either, we still have a board made up of inexperienced football people and a 20 something as a chairman. The one thing that has made me laugh this season and last (and it will almost certainly continue) is the belief by some of the posters on here (you, Babylon, Numan etc etc) that Sven didn't save us from relegation, he did have a full season in which he missed the play offs and that his having us 13th after 13 games meant that despite us being a win and draw from second, that his 'mercenaries' were no good for the club. They became no good once Pearson got in with his cack handed handling of many of the players AND WE WILL NEVER KNOW if they would have done better under a more successful manager because we didn't appoint one - whatever Nige had he has lost in the same way Micky Adams and Brian Little and Mark McGhee and Craig Levein and many others lost their mojo and endded up in the lower leagues - This is his fate - it shouldn't be ours
Finnegan Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 Can you remember as far back as the end of January? I stand by what I said - the squad's not far from being good enough to win the title. Fifteen players? Two or three, more like. Who do you think are the three quality players we have? It is a shite run, but promotion is still in our hands, so doesn't that tell you anything about how we were doing not very long ago? I'm sorry but I don't agree the squad is good enough or even within two or three signings of being so. It's threadbare. Our first choice eleven, on form, is fantastic but we've no real cover anywhere. Gallagher, Wellens, Waghorn, Vardy and co all bring down the calibre of the side when brought in. They're okay players, they'll "do" at this level but not for chasing promotion. I don't blame Pearson for that, I think his building is only half done. But we need two new wingers to offer both cover and "something different", we could do with losing Vardy and Waghorn to bring in a tidy finisher with a bit of pace, we need two new full backs st very least and maybe cover in the middle. A nasty string of injuries would cripple us. Moreover, a bad run of form and all of a sudden look at us. Pearson's left clutching at straws (Wood on the wing?!) to try and change things up.

Three quality players - Kasper, Nugent and Wes - the rest look bargain basement Championship fodder - there is a shred of potential with Wood, Knocky and James - the rest are garbage or past it - to really challenge we would need the three potentials to come good and at least 12+ more players of similar standard - its a big rebuild needed and now the clock has run out it will take a talent spotter of O Neills calibre to do it - not Nige

You are such a hypocrite it's laughable.

Babylon Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 Glad to keep you smiling Babylotion - nice to read a whole post by you in a Sven thread without you mentioning 13th place I would like to say it's nice to see you not bum Sven and slate Pearson for doing the same thing in a thread... but... that's all you do seenitonlyonsky.

Surely the conclusion you should draw from the above is that the owners are a bunch of incompetents. There is a good case for that but it's remarkable how the duty free magnates seem to escape all scrutiny of their decision-making and everything seems to fall on the head of the manager.
seenitall Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 Well, in answer to the OP question.......... We had an inexperienced board then and still have so .....No Change We had a chance of automatic promotion then but now don't......So Worse We are still in the Championship as of today.......No Change We had not gone more than 3 without a win....if only now .........So Worse We had an untried team that had taken 19 points from 13 games, now we have a tried and tested team that has taken 8 points from 13 games.......So Worse A few players were performing under par then, all of them except Wes and Kasper are now...So Worse We had spent lots of money (which used to be a good thing but then wasn't) and now we have still spent lots on less good players....So Worse or at best No Change

If you post a question perhaps the use of a question mark and the correct wording might lead people to think you wanted an answer. As it was neither were present and it was just your usual fishing.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 Depends how you look at it. Better squad with more of our key players actually owned, but arguably less chance of securing play offs given that there are fewer games remaining.
hackneyfox Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 Of these key players that we own, how many do you think would cut it in a first eleven in the premier? Schmeichel? Wes? King? Nugent? Wood? I'm really struggling to pick anymore and I have my doubrs about those I've listed.

I'm really struggling to pick anymore and I have my doubrs about those I've listed. De Laet - Championship player at best, he will get absolutely slaughtered in the Premier League Konchesky - Past it now, would be good as back-up Whitbread - Has done well in the Prem before, but has played shit for us Drinkwater - Overrated, would get turned over too easily James - Might do well, but will need better players around him Knockaert - Has the talent, but needs to learn how to be less greedy Marshall - Not good enough Dyer - Would be useful for a lower Championship club Waghorn - Will get sold Others don't deserve to be mentioned
hackneyfox Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 So we have an improved squad of young and hungry players who will get slaughtered in the PL. It isn't just a case of bringing in 3 or 4 experienced players to help out, we'd effectively need an entire first 11 and another 8 or so to back up 6 or so that we currently have who may just be good enough for the bench.
bmt Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 We are in a marginally better position because we actually own our players. Promotion prospects similar though. This, plus better financially due to reductions in wage costs

hackneyfox Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 Unfortunately we still have the following large salaries on the books: Schmeichel Konchesky Wellens Gallagher Dyer Nugent Danns Beckford.
hackneyfox Posted 16 April 2013 Posted 16 April 2013 And under Sven that would have been any different would it? I wasn't even thinking about Sven when I posted this, it was just my take on our current position but who knows, but he'd have probably had a couple more players with PL experience and I'm sure should we have got promoted that he'd have attracted more players than Pearson.
