Leicester 1-2 Watford Post Match

Yakubu is probably the only player that other clubs in the division couldn't have gotten and that's only because we paid an absolute king's ransom for him. Vitor was brought in by Sousa and was possibly due to his connections as a fellow Portuguese, so maybe other clubs in the division couldn't have gotten him. The rest of those players were all just young lads who needed to go out on loan to get experience, hardly unobtainable for anyone else in this division, it's just that Pearson and Sven identified them as good players and brought them in.

No-one can legitimately argue that Watford have utilised the loan system in the spirit of which it was intended to be used - Watford have not 'used the loan system well', they've used it in a way that no other team has had the opportunity to, they've found a loophole in the system and they've exploited it to their advantage. It's now up to the relevent authorities to close that loophole.

The fact that the football league see it as a problem goes to show that they believe it isn't very fair, and they're making moves to amend the rules:

Loaning foreign players was and is open to every club. The fact that the Pozzo's owned the other clubs just made it a bit easier.

The Pozzo's only purchased the club about a month before the season started so were limited by player options. I would imagine a lot of the current loan players will sign permanent deals, plus players with even more quality will arrive on loan. I doubt if the rules will be changed as FIFA need to sanction any rule change.

We will let the other misguided clubs continue to bankrupt themselves by spending fortunes on crap players.

This is the attitude from Watford fans I just can't fathom.

Don't get me wrong, Leicester clearly aren't a good model for a championship club. We've overspent and under-achieved, I accept these criticisms levelled at us.

But claiming that every club is just misguided and backwards because they aren't loaning an entire team from a sister club is just stupid. The key point indierich made that was completely overlooked here is that 99.9% of clubs just aren't in a position to do what Watford have this season.

I can only think of the Red Bull franchises as even comparable and even then the links between those clubs are tenuous other than sponsorship.

To have three teams, one owner and almost sharing the players round like one big communal pot is a complete oddity. It's within the rules so, unlike many fans, I'm not knocking it or calling Watford unethical or any of the like.

But their fans need to drop this superiority, "our club is just smarter / more modern!" self defense mechanism and just accept they completely lucked out bagging an owner who has another club to feed them players.

Enjoy it while it lasts, don't let other fans' bitterness get to you and have fun with it. But for the love of gor, do yourself a favour and drop the insufferable smug act because it's just one more thing we'll beat you about with when it all goes south. Which it will, as all things end.

Exactly my point. They've found a loophole which has been exploited by them, and that's fair enough - they're entitled to do that. If the Football League thinks it's unfair, it's up to them to close that loophole, which is what they appear to have decided to do.

If we'd gone to Udinese and Granada and asked to loan a shitload of their players for the season, would they have all come to us? I doubt it. Would players of that calibre come to a Championship club on loan if the owners didn't have a vested interest in the club? There is no question that the shared ownership played a massive part in the foreign players who moved to Watford on loan this season. But all credit to the manager - he got them playing and utililised them well. But Watford fans shouldn't be surprised if the rules are different next season, I think this has been a one off. Thankfully for Watford, this one off might have been all they needed to get promoted.

Sorry to come over as a smart arse. We are just sensitive to the criticism that we have received. I have been supporting the hornets since 1966 and this current team is playing the best football in that time. We have had some crap owners recently so we so relieved at the moment. We hope the interest and support from the Pozzo's continues for many years. I have already posted on your forum what a fantastic set up you have at Leicester, ground, facilities and an owner with deep pockets. Success will come to your club soon.

There is however a general problem with football clubs spending far too much on player purchase and wages, this must be addressed to make the whole game more sustainable in the long run.

It must be annoying to have criticism levelled at you from all corners when al you've done is use the system to your advantage. You'd think Leicester fans would be a bit more sympathetic given the amount of shit we get for being 'big spending Leicester City' though.

I think Zola has still done a good job and deserves credit for what he's done at Watford this season regardless - it's ok to get these players in, but he's had to get them to adapt to the championship and get them playing how he wants them to play. He's also done well in getting the best out of players that are already at the club and brought in good domestic players on loan - Chalobah has been a revelation. I don't begrudge Watford a bit of success because they've certainly not had much to cheer about over the last few seasons, but it's annoying when Watford fans come on here giving it large as soon as they've got a sniff of success - it shows a lack of class. But every team has those fans.

Leicester know all too well about the dangers of building a team on loanees though, from Sven's first season here - there will be a big rebuild job on if you can't get them permanently.

It will be interesting to see what ocurrs at the start of the next season as with out promotion Watcirds options we be very limited and with promotion how will they keep or bring in players. Or is it the intention of the owners to cash in ?

Hang on, if we beat forest and bolton lose or draw against blackpool then we've made the play offs.

Asking our players to concentrate on winning just one true make or break game is better because we cant be shít and expect to make up for it in the next game as there wont be one.

Bolton v blackpool is a predictible score draw too.

If we make the play offs Pearson can stay regardless of what happens because he is an excellent manager but if we dont make the play offs then get rid of the useless cúnt.

And for the Watford fans still trolling on here, maybe you should take a look at the table. You are not 12 points clear are you. In fact you are third with a chance of 2nd, nice but considering what you have at your disposal not very good.

Have you taken the 'bottlers' tag from Cardiff?

Literally, put down your pencil dick, step away from the keyboard and go and do something productive. It's been four days, what is your problem!?

He's been quite reasonable unless antagonized, to be honest.

And he's right, we are this season's biggest bottlers and it is embarrassing. Especially after all the mouthbreathers on here kept telling visiting Cardiff fans we were going to catch them because they ALWAYS bottle it.

He's a different poster, Super_Horns is the decent one.

It's alright boys, I've got this.

Eheeeem.

Ascolta, apprezziamo i vostri punti che avete fatto, ma è giunto il momento di lasciare. Buona fortuna per l'ultima partita, addio!

We may well be shit but at least it's our team !!!

Ours too mate - come summer.

Maybe you could benefit from a few more loans, can't seem to buy your way to the title can you. Useless.

No, this is the first season we've bottled anything.

Before then we've just been crap, like you.

But back to the game, I watched it last night and thought we played a lot better than it looked from SK1. How did Wood manage to miss at the near post. What did worry me is the players just don't seem to connect with the crowd.
