All the more reason to try and get him back in the team to improve on that rate - bit of management should do it.

Fantastic. Let's pick the team on how much we paid for them.

Presume you want him to partner Waghorn as well.

He's shown this season, even under the manager who supposedly gets the best out of him, he can still only manage nine goals. At some point people have got to start accepting that that's his level and he's not really going to improve on that at 29 years old.

A leg and brain transplant may also do the trick.

For someone who costs what he did and is, the return is poor. That's what people's problem is, yes Waghorn has similarly been disappointing granted.

He got 8 league goals in 21 appearances, not really that bad.

Babylon has been absolutely superb in this thread.

Yuck....

I'm STILL torn over Beckford.

His attitude? Well I have no idea really. He seems an idle bar steward on the pitch, but he gets frustrated easily maybe because he actually wants to do really well?

What I do know is that I've seen him score some sensational goals. I've also seen him look absolutely fookin garbage too.

Highly frustrating player is Jermaine, but I'm still torn.

Maybe that was the rationale in sending to him to work with the manager who knows him best and has gotten the best out of him in the past - to get him scoring goals and put him in the shop window. But, oh wait, he still didn't score more than last season.

It's clear nine or ten goals is about his level in the Championship and for what he's rumoured to be being paid and the fact that he can't sit on the bench without throwing a strop, it's not good enough.

Well last season he scored 8 in 25 which is a ratio of 0.32 - comparable with Nuge over a full season

The strop thing is not worth getting in a strop over - footballers are all spoiled little kids (!)

You think 9 or 10 but he never played a full season for us and hit 9 so arguably could still be worth that 11-12 even unmotivated and unhappy - like I say, a bit of decent management and coaching, a tweak to the formation and we could get something out of him.

Why is everyone so afraid of trying this - we played Kane a number of times who has nothing like this kind of record.

I'll bet when Nige gets fired after the Blackpool game the new man will recall him and we will get a proper look.

Did we loan Waggy out then? I seem to have missed that.

I must admit I kinda see your point.

Is the problem Pearson or Beckford or maybe both?

However, I also thought Beckford could look woeful under Sven...

Dunno really...

Not really, Leeds fans were quite open saying he was an idle lazy bastard even when he was bagging loads.

Me too - but because we are torn would it not make sense to sort it out one way or the other - he played 5 games last season for us - not enough to be making a decision.

We hear how tough Nige is with the team but he isn't really - he just sends the ones he can't cope with away - this seems weak and we know weak people feel pressure

Beckford is woeful full stop Col IMO

From Sky Sports - The official line is now 'undisclosed fee' but at the time this was what was reported

Jermaine Beckford has signed for Leicester City for a £2.5m fee.

The deal was agreed late on transfer deadline day.

He wouldn't by my ideal starter but as backup, he's better than Vardy or Waghorn, and scoring 8 goals from 14 starts and 7 sub apperances which is what he did when away from Pearson is exactly the kind of return I'd expect for a backup striker, more than those two put together from fewer apperances, he can play football when his heads on. Another thing getting his head on mind and it's a financial nightmare keeping him here but who's going to want him?

Who, Danns and Beckford? Yep, they're shit.

Danns in particular is a very poor footballer in that he can't tackle without giving away free kicks, he can't pass the ball well and consequently he is very poor at retaining possession. On the plus side, he's quite energetic, but that's about it and that's nowhere near good enough. I'm completely confident in saying that King, James and Drinkwater are all much, much better options than Danns and consequently, we have no use for him. We might need another type of midfielder, perhaps a more physical, ball winning midfielder, but Danns is not that midfielder. I've been saying this since day one, his a poor-quality, very limited midfielder and if he left tomorrow, I wouldn't remotely care. We've not missed him at all this season and we won't miss him when he's gone.

As for Beckford, yes, he's poor too. He's probably good enough to be a backup striker, but he's never going to be good enough to lead the line for a Championship team and he's never hit more than double figures above League One, even under the manager he thrived under at Leeds, and that's a fact. We've got Chris Wood and David Nugent who are capable of hitting double figures, as they've proved this season. We could probably do with some decent back up, but not on £30,000 a week.

Combine their pitiful contribution on the pitch with their ridiculous wages and you can only come to the conclusion that these men need to leave, because Beckford, Danns and the other poor, expensive signings made by the con-man Sven Goran Errikson are a cancer on this club that need to be excised as soon as humanly possible.

we will agree to disagree here. The same Neal Danns who was Crystal Palaces player of the year before he came to us was highly rated by all of their fans and still is the same player who did not know why Pearson had frozen him out as he never spoke to him. the same Mr Pearson who wanted to buy Neal Danns when he was Hulls manager but we beat him to it. The same Neal Danns who played well under Sven and there is even a lifesize picture of him on the wall in the club shop. In attack who would I rather have Waghorn, Futacs, Kane or Vardy? Mmmmmmm let me think about this for a minute. i would rather have Beckford everytime over all of them. For the last time Sven did not pay these players their overated salaries or contracts. Andrew Neville and the Thais have to take responsibility here. On another note I would even have Beckford over Wood cos he has been playing shit and looks totally uninterested

Danny Tiatto won player of the year here.

Danns played well under Sven? How many times? Once? Twice?

Beckford over wood ha ha ha. Wood scored almost as many in the league for us in half a season as Beckford did in a full one.

How dare you point out that his 8 goals were scored in only 21 appearances.

You are only allowed to mention that he has never scored more than 9 goals at this level.

I'm not a huge fan but this slating of him is getting out of hand.

That's the problem, he doesn't want to be back up. It's either start me or send me somewhere else.

Pearson said that Beckford wanted to leave, has this been backed up elsewhere.

So manage him properly - not tit for tat. Nige has to be bigger than throwing his toys out of the pram when dealing with footballers - if for no other reason than he has effectively thrown away the investment in the player. Surely the owners would have expected him to do more than just write the investment off over a spat. Relative to the current size of the club, Beckford is as important an asset to City as Tevez was to man City and they sorted it out.

The thing about Beckford is that he's obviously the kind of underclass scum that would be in jail or living on handouts with a fat sti ridden wife and a bunch of scabby kids on a shithole council estate if he wasn't blessed with the ability to play football. A blessing he seems not to appreciate, preferring instead the trappings of wealth and minor celebrity. The guy is a cvnt. That's why I don't want him in the team.
