I was talking to someone who worked in housing about the bedroom tax. They said they were having to move people into flats that were more expensive to the taxpayer than the 2/3 bedroom properties they were vacating.

 

Also a lot of their tenants were simply not paying the tax which has left the housing association with a large cash shortfall.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: people relying on the tax payer to fund their housing should be sharing properties.

It is nice to finally see Ken agreeing that people should be allowed to find loopholes to avoid tax though.

My original point was about the bedroom tax and why it is a daft idea. As for sharing, I have no problem with the government incentivising it, but I don't think it should ever be expected.

I kind of agree with you on this.  I'm sharing a one-bedroom flat with two other guys(they have a bed each in the bedroom and mine's set up in the 'living room') because on my current income I can't afford to rent my own place so I've got to live within my means.  If you've got the taxpayer footing your rent then I don't see why you should be any more comfortably housed than I am.

What's that got to do with the price of eggs?  The inflation figures mean nothing to anyone with half a brain.
