Dan Posted 12 February 2014 Posted 12 February 2014 Oh my. The utter bastards have only gone and beat us in the first leg. Unreal.
Dan Posted 12 February 2014 Posted 12 February 2014 And out the Europa League we go. Utterly ****ing pathetic. Best team on the game can't even win the Europa League. The title race is unreal here. We're both on 31 games (everyone else on 32), I'm two ahead of them. I go to Frankfurt whilst they go to Hoffenheim. Then I play them home & away... if I don't win this then I'm close to giving in. EDIT; Hoffenheim 1-3 Dortmund Frankfurt 0-3 Bayern So I'm two ahead of them, with each other to play home and away. Never seen a scenario like this I win either game and the title is ours.
Ross-Kemp Posted 12 February 2014 Posted 12 February 2014 Dan, Try a 4-2-3-1 Winger (a) Shadow striker (a) Winger (a) Deep lying forward (a)
Dan Posted 12 February 2014 Posted 12 February 2014 The home game is DRAWN. Utter shit. We'll 100% lose at their place. Missed a glorious chance in the 93rd minute too. Ross.. I've tried something extremely similar to that and it brought no success. I don't think it's anything tactical. I think there's something really basic I'm not doing because it's impossible to be this bad. Mkhitaryan rocket in the 85th minute. Actually laughable. I am the worst player at this bar none. Lost the cup final to another 85th minute goal. I actually cannot believe this Is there literally any way of doing well at this game? How well do you lot actually do?
Beliall Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 are you dropping to defend in the latter stages? sitting back almost always results in a conceded goal
Dan Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 Never. That's why I don't do it - I try and close the game out by keeping the opposition pinned in their own half.
Buzzell Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 Attacking at home, Counter when away. Seems to do the job for me.

Dan Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 I do as well but it isn't so much a problem being home or away IMO. The killer for me was Martinez getting injured. I think at Bayern they've got a lot of quality midfielders but they're all too similar. My midfield trio was an anchorman (Martinez), box-to-box (Schweinsteiger) and an advanced playmaker (rotated Kroos & Thiago). Martinez gets injured so what happens next? Schweinsteiger at DM, who comes in and does the b2b job? Or I just put a centre half (Kirchhoff) there but he's nowhere near as good. Should've bought that Mexican lad from Chivas, Enriquez or something. Once again in my opinion, too many of my best players didn't perform. Muller didn't get over 7 in a game all season. Gotze averaged 6.79 at either AMC or AML, Ribery was very hit and miss, Kroos was inconsistent for someone who the coaching staff rated as my best player in the squad () I can't quite see where I'm continuously going wrong.
Beliall Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 the way i see it, a good player is a good player. if you play DLP and BBM with success and a CM gets injured, the replacement should play the same roll. doesnt bother me if hes only 2stars as a DLP.

Try putting Kroos in Martinez's place as anchor man, or even Schweinsteiger as anchor man an Kroos as box to box midfielder.
Dan Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 I've fvcked them off now anyway but I don't see how that'll work. I thought the anchor man was to break up the oppositions play? That's not Kroos' game. Neither is running up and down the pitch contributing all-round. His game is about creativity and he hardly ever did it. Mandzukic won the golden boot but I was still nowhere near convinced by him being good enough.
StanSP Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 Dan, try this formation (if you haven't already) 4-1(DM)-1(CM)-2-2 The DM is a box-to-box midfielder. The CM is a ball-winning midfielder. The 2 other midfielders are AMR/AML The 2 up front - one is a complete forward, the other is just on automatic. Ribery/Robben as the AMs. Muller/Mandzukic as the 2 ST. The DM can be Martinez (when returning from injury). The CM can be Schweinsteiger. I guess those 2 could swap. The danger with this tactic is the over-running in midfield, especially when teams play 5 in midfield. However, set up the right way, the attack should come out on top 9 times out of 10. This is just from memory but when I get home, I'll give a run down of every single position and what their roles have been defined to. I use Control for the strategy. If/When I go a goal down in a match, it immediately changes to Attacking. If you want similar players to the starting 11, just search for players with similar stats in the Player Search. Do you have an equal balance of staff and their roles/responsibilities? Get it right from the start and you won't need to change. I tinkered with a lot of formations before gaining consistency with mine (and this is with Leicester!). I've never had to change formation for home or away, and I'm doing pretty well in the Premier League.

I sort my staff out before anything else and try and get every training category up to at least four stars - no matter who I'm managing. I often don't manage it but it was all 4.5/5 star at Bayern. You say get it right from the start... well in January I was top, before I faltered a bit and changed my formation to a 4-3-3/4-5-1 (DMC, MC, MC, AML, AMR, ST) and won something like 12 on the spin in all comps. How does that end up losing at home to Hoffenheim? To be completely honest I'm still convinced I'd have won both the league & cup if Martinez wasn't injured. Absolutely key player who I couldn't come close to replacing with my other players.

I have my bad runs during a season, but in the end the formation comes through again. Longest unbeaten run I've been on is something like 20+ games. I get angry when I lose and it comes to end and even more when I don't win the next game. But if that's the case, I have a go at the worst performing player both straight after the match and a day after to say 'criticise last game'. Majority of the time they'll buck up their ideas for the next game and play a blinder.

StanSP Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 i might have to try that. Only if it's lower than 6.0 and others are on about 6.7/6.8. They've underperformed cos they've probably made a mistake in the match.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 I don't remember Dan being this bad last year.
Dan Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 I wasn't great but I wasn't this much of an inept bellend.
Stadt Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 I know it's something you don't want to do Dan, but why don't you download a "wonder tactic" just so your team(s) play well for a couple of months and look at why this tactics work? Just a suggestion like, it sort of worked for me.
Beliall Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 good idea, dont even have to use it long, but you can examine it and what it does
