Beckford

From Bolton forums. Any of this sound familiar lol

'Beckford looked like a slightly taller version of Sordell, lazy and uninterested. Hopefully not another waste of money like Sordell was'

'The referee will get the blame because we didn't win but the manager needs to take his share of the stick today. It was clear at Burnley that playing long to Beckford in a lone striker role isn't going to work. It looked exactly the same today and I was surprised it took so long to change it, but when he did it was a like-for-like swap so nothing really changed after all. Beckford will score goals in a two-man attack, but he's hardly had a kick in the two games so far and that's worrying'

'I actually thought ngog was playing slightly deeper than beckford. as I said after the burnley game, it strikes me that beckford is going to be the forward making the runs for the ball to be played through. he doesn't look like he's that interested in winning the ball in the air or running it down. if he doesn't start scoring, I've no doubt people will be on his case'

'N'gog and Beckford could have been replaced by the ghost of Christmas Past for most of the second half of the game - and a fair bit of the first'

'Beckford was anonymous because nobody was reading his runs. The consensus round me was 'another chocolate teapot'. This will be true if no one learns how to link with him'

'Beckford needs some service or else he might as well not be there'

'Beckford 5 did look good in the air but he wasn't involved in the game at all'

He isn't our player anymore. Who cares.

From what I recall, he allegedly has a clause in his contract saying that we'll get some more money from the deal the more goals he scores this season.

So we should care to a certain extent. At least from a financial point of view.

From what I've seen of him, his movement's been terrible. He looks like he's playing a different game to everyone else.

That being said, it's inevitable that when he eventually does find the net, someone on here will start a thread saying bumming the life out of him. The phrase, "scoring for fun" will certainly be used.

the commentator on last weeks football league show said.

and davis has done more in a minute than beckford in an hour!!!

he only hit a shot 5 yards wide from about 25 yards. so it tells you how much beckford must have done.

2 games in and people cant wait to be proven right.

Tad early I think.

At least Freedman isn't playing him on the wing yet!?

I think people who said he was shit have already been proven right by his pathetic goal return at any level above League 1.

I wouldn't call 9 goals in a debut season of the premiership a pathetic return.

Why does it matter that it was his debut season? He was 26 not 16.

For an out-and-out goalscorer not to have got double figures in the league for 3 seasons is pathetic.

And I wouldn't judge a player on how he performed two seasons ago.

He's basically been drawing a wage on the back of that goal against United for many years now.

Michael Ricketts got 12! And I would call him shit every day of the week, like good players have bad seasons bad players have good seasons.

That is a rubbish return when you are the main man, have you not seen what Van Persie, Aguero and Rooney score a season...

A quick glance at Everton's top scorers under Moyes shows that rarely was it the striker who was top scorer and usually the top scorer finished on somewhere between 8 and 11 goals. Bar one season when Yakubu got 15, that generally has been the case.

I imagine its the way Moyes set up his team at Everton, that goals were spread around the team, and he often a midfielder would be top scorer.

If you're going to judge Beckford along side Van Persie, Aguero etc, (which you shouldn't be btw, they are world class players, if Beckford was even half as good he'd never have found himself at Leicester) then you really need to judge him having played with similar quality player, in a similar style team.

Their fans are less impatient then ours! Well, as impatient... Ok, ok...2 games in, a bit more considered than our fans.

Still, early days. Bolton will be right up there.
