Ryanw21 Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 With Kasper being the first name on the team sheet without doubt each week and Logan not even being thought of which has been the same since he arrived would anybody feel comfortable if Kasper got an injury? Obviously Schmeichel is twice the player but Logan would be the one to replace him but is he capable? Im not posting this just to dig at Logan but I genuinely cant remember last seeing Logan play so I personally think we need a replacement or loanee
StanSP Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 No. The fact we have a keeper who is seemingly happy to sit on the bench and just be back up is a wonder in itself. We don't need a replacement unless Schmeichel is injured for a lengthy period. For the odd game, I'll be fine with Logan in goal and there's no point getting a loanee in. Of course Logan isn't the best keeper but he's nowhere near the worse.

Fox92 Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 Logan sits on the bench to provide back up, and doesn't moan about not playing. It's a win-win situation for Nigel. If Kasper was to get injured, I'd probably think we'd get an emergency loan in at that time, but at the minute, I think we're ok with Logan as back up.

Which raise's the question, why are we paying Logan to just sit there? I know should Kasper get injured during a game we need to someone to come in but we may aswell give the spot to a academy lad. If the back-up keeper isn't good enough to play for a few games and we'd get an emergency loan in I don't see why he is at the club. Fair play to Logan for doing what he does though, can't blame the lad.
bluesbrothers Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 Considering that, on the rare occasion I've actually seen him play, he's not put a foot wrong, I'm more than confident that he's suitable back-up. He's always playing in the reserves and we got good reports when he was off on loan at various clubs.
champions 08/09 Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 Logan made some brilliant saves in the development league game and the goals weren't his fault, judging on that performance and his warm ups (not really much to go on) I think he is a more than suitable back up keeper to Kasper, to play when Kasper picks up an injury or a suspension etc. But they would probably loan a keeper anyway unless Logan is playing brilliantly.
Fox92 Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 What do you think to maybe giving him a run out tomorrow? I'd maybe give him a go. I'm not convinced by him though, Sven game him a go against West Brom the other year and he jumped for the ball and missed it, which resulted in the opposition scoring. I remember when he was number one as well, under Kelly.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 Logan is like having an AA membership. If you have it, there's little chance you'll ever need it. As soon as you're without it, 20 mins into the toughest game of the season, Schmeichel breaks his shoulder.

I see what you mean but its just with not seeing him so long at this level, im even unsure as to whether Pearson has even ever seen him play a championship game? I wouldn't be comfortable unless we were in a comfortable position in the table
cc_star Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 He may now be the worst, we haven't seen him in years id personally get a loanee in just incase the worst does happen at some point this season We have no money to spend on wages, are you going to pay for a loanee... Who's happy to never play? It's quite possible now that Konchesky departure has fell through we still need to sell with ZERO new arrivals to get under the limit
Mack Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 I've said this loads on here. This summer should have seen us sign a young talented understudy for Kasper to mentor. Logan would hold down a first team place in the lower leagues, and is probably cheap, but if Kasper got badly injured we would have a problem.

Ryanw21 Posted 26 August 2013 Author Posted 26 August 2013 Kasper is by far the best keeper in the league therefor I don't imagine a player who has played very few games in many seasons will be better, also Pearson would see both train and Logan would of played at least once last year if he stood a chance

Logan would have played once a year? Why exactly? Kasper hasn't been injured or suspended since we had Weale, so no need to rotate keepers. As you say, Kasper's is better so NP doesn't need to swap them around for fitness or tactical reasons. I know Conrad has done little more than warm the bench for years and years now, but that doesn't mean that's his sole reason for being at the club. If he couldn't cope with starting a game, we wouldn't have renewed his contract so many times- might as well stick Adam Smith in there

Johnny Cash Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 Why we dont play him in early cup games is bad management.
Ryanw21 Posted 26 August 2013 Author Posted 26 August 2013 Why we dont play him in early cup games is bad management. at least like tomorrow, Im a big supporter of Nigel but why he hasn't done it is beyond me, we have no idea of his ability but even playing against a weaker side we still have no idea what he would be like against a championship team if needed
Fox seen in Norwich Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 I'd play Logan. Purely the risk factor. Imagine if kasper got injured against Carlisle. Would be like cheating on your model gf with a hamburger eating fatty.
StanSP Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 Why we dont play him in early cup games is bad management. :: how is that 'bad' management?
Meltonfossefox Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 I used to do a bit of work at the training ground years back when he was second fiddle to walker and asked him, he loves the club, knows he has a job to do and gets paid, and trust me the amount of training that guy does he's always fit (not match fit granted). Personally I think he's a good keeper and certainly capable of filling in when needed. Just my thoughts
Meltonfossefox Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 Walker btw used to go straight on his phone when he left so he didn't have to talk to kids wanting autographs. I swear it rang once when he had it at his ear tosser
LCFC FOX Posted 26 August 2013 Posted 26 August 2013 Adam Smith looked decent in pre season, now he's playing in the premier development league he will get even better, hopefully he can be out number 1 in a few years
