Carl the Llama Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Nope never used it as a source, never would, might be well policed on high profile articles not on everything Ok then, I have a challenge for you: Go edit a wikipedia page and link us to it. Â I feel pretty certain any changes you make will be gone in 10 minutes(if they make it to the official site at all).
Jimmy Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 You can indeed score directly from a corner. You can score from a direct free kick - but as we have already found, you cant score an own goal from a direct free kick. Can you score an own goal from a corner? Wrong the post said about an indirect free kick
Renart Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Yeah, first is corner if indirect, OG if direct, second is OG.  I assume this thread has some sort of "you're all hypocrites and need to lay off the twunt in black yesterday" point?  According to the Ref you are wrong! And I believe him - sucker for authority. He quoted a law.
pleatout Posted 1 September 2013 Author Posted 1 September 2013 Wrong the post said about an indirect free kick huh? what post? My original post that asked the question said the free kick had been given for handball = direct free kick.
Carl the Llama Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Wrong the post said about an indirect free kick Just go click on the link I sent you again and go to the direct free kick section. Â Same rule applies to own goals in each case. Â Edit: In fact, please just make this a new rule for yourself everytime you want to condescend to someone in a post stating a 'fact': Double check it first(people should really be doing this anyway), even if the only source you can find is the 'unreliable' wikipedia.
Jimmy Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 huh? what post? My original post that asked the question said the free kick had been given for handball = direct free kick. But Harry and I were talking about whether it would be a goal for an indirect free kick we agreed goal if direct
pleatout Posted 1 September 2013 Author Posted 1 September 2013 But Harry and I were talking about whether it would be a goal for an indirect free kick we agreed goal if direct Corner no matter what.
GingerrrFox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 But Harry and I were talking about whether it would be a goal for an indirect free kick we agreed goal if direct It can't be an OG no matter if its an indirect or direct.
pleatout Posted 1 September 2013 Author Posted 1 September 2013 And the next one is  89th minute, 1 nil up at Wembley against F*rest in the Cup final. Waggy [he's come on as sub] takes a corner. He decides to waste time he's going to lump it back to Kasper. Yes, you've guessed it. He over hits it, bobble, airshot and in the back of the net.  What are you giving this time? Law 17  "A goal may be scored directly from a corner kick, but only against the opposing team"  So it's a corner again!!!! Phew, you got away with Waggy as big Wes'll sort it.    Anyway, we all know that the penalty area is 18 yards from the goal line and the goal area is 6 yards from the goal line.  But how far ALONG the goal line towards the corner flags do they go?
Jimmy Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 It can't be an OG no matter if its an indirect or direct. It's a stupid rule then, as I said earlier, I can accept the premise for an indirect free kick but for a direct 1 it's not right
pleatout Posted 1 September 2013 Author Posted 1 September 2013 Listen, I'm only the ref, I dont make the laws I just do my best to apply them
Carl the Llama Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Â Law 17 Â "A goal may be scored directly from a corner kick, but only against the opposing team" Â So it's a corner again!!!! Â But how far ALONG the goal line towards the corner flags do they go? Â I want to say 18 yards and 6 yards from each post respectively, but since you asked that it feels like it must be too obvious...
pleatout Posted 1 September 2013 Author Posted 1 September 2013 Ref mind games!  Of course it is 6 and 18 yards what else would it be  One last one for now.  Boxing Day, coldsnap but the game against Leeds is on.  Kasper is worried about getting cold - he spots the new KING POWER Onesie in bright red in the club shop. No colour clash there he thinks. It's complete with sponsor name etc etc.  Why as a ref [not a fashion critic] are you going to tell him he cant wear it?
Kitchandro Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 You make a thread called 'You're the ref!' Do you do this because:  A) You think Deadman was right to send James off  or  B) You're trying to tell us that referees can give a load of free kicks in the second half that weren't free kicks in the first just because they're afraid the players might be getting angry  ?

It is a feature in the Guardian newspaper every week. They put forward a hypothetical situation and ask readers/football fans what the ref should do and then give you the correct answer according to the rules of the game. I think it makes a good thread and has already caused some debate. I hope it keeps going - maybe one or two a week?Â

Or because someone asked me to when I made the point that refs explaining decisions wouldn't make much difference as significant numbers of players, managers and fans don't understand the laws of the game.  My point was and is a lot of comments made about refs is based on the mistaken belief that "what I was told by my PE teacher/junior football manager/sunday football manager is correct". And sadly it isn't. I despise Dennis Wise for a number of reasons and in there is the simple fact that he argued with a ref over an offside decision, when he clearly had no idea what he was talking about. This bloke played for England and made a living playing a sport he didnt understand.  I didn't say ref gave free kicks that weren't free kicks. Refs will give free kicks instead of playing advantage. If refs gave every free kick they could, according to the laws of the game it would last days and be as dull as ditch water.

The onesie was actually a secret Thai made performance enhancing nuclear war head and thus was considered dangerous.

Erm, even having consulted the official site, the best I can suggest is that it's not on the official list of equipment...  But tights are allowed so make what you want of that.

Aus Fox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 To be honest in all three situations the free kick, corner and Kaspers onesie I would have given a penalty to Leicester and sent off at least 2 Forest players for arguing.
Tielemans63 Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I think this thread is becoming far too aggressive - yellow card.
pleatout Posted 1 September 2013 Author Posted 1 September 2013 I can only think it is this... Maybe something to do with it being separate pieces - i.e. shirt and shorts not a onesie?  yep law 4  The basic compulsory equipment of a player comprises the following separate items: • a jersey or shirt with sleeves – if undergarments are worn, the colour of the sleeve must be the same main colour as the sleeve of the jersey or shirt • shorts – if undershorts or tights are worn, they must be of the same main colour as the shorts • stockings – if tape or similar material is applied externally it must be the same colour as that part of the stocking it is applied to • shinguards • footwear Shinguards • are covered entirely by the stockings • are made of rubber, plastic or a similar suitable material • provide a reasonable degree of protection   You cant play in a onesie or barefeet!

pleatout Posted 1 September 2013 Author Posted 1 September 2013 No, just no  Please dont attempt to explain those holes either
