His pic will be on posters t-shirts and mugs in colleges the length breadth of the nation soon , you mark my words :)

I do enjoy a good protest as long as it's done right. While it might seem odd for Russell Brand to go to an anonymous protest and not be anonymous it is all about raising the profile. Like it or not, he has some influence over people as a celebrity and i'm pleased he is getting involved in politics.

I think people should know who Bashir Al Assad is before getting involved in politics?

Anyone got an answer to what guy from Leicester is in Guantanamo or is this more unfounded bollocks he can shout to 300 lefties in an audience who he knows won't pull him up?

Who from Leicester is in Guantanamo Bay?

I think it's proper name is Skegness Butlins.

They just call it Guantanamo Bay  .

70% good points 30% barmy

A better good to barmy ratio than Brand. I often agree with what Brand says, but I'm not a fan of how he says it, it's a shame he doesn't stand for anything because he will never have to justify his view point and just take pot shots from the side line without ever having to do anything about it.

Spot on comments from the Tory MP here, labelling Brand as "destructive" and as a "champagne anarchist". Probably the perfect term for him.

Tory MP who worked previously as a banker. Could there be anyone who was more likely to disagree with Brand? In a way this only goes to show some of the truths in what Brand is saying.

I'm torn to be honest. i thnk there genuinely is a movement gathering pace albeit very slowly that will eventually robustly challenge inequality and an ineffective political process. I don't think Brand is the man to lead it but if he gets some conversations started and sustains others then I don't think that's a bad thing.

Bump.

I still can't find anything.

Had the Mail, Torygraph etc made such a comment we would have a swarm of leftists jumping on such an inaccuracy, where were they in this audience?

There was a Ugandan student from De Montfort who was in Guantanamo but he got out years ago. I assume Brand was either mistaken or speaking broadly, in so far as the issue was fairly close to home.

Must admit the first time i read that I thought he meant that living in Leicester for some people is like being in Guantanamo.

I'm still not sure that's not what he meant tbh. For someone so supposedly articulate it takes him an awful lot of words to get his primary school level points across.

I'm just waiting for the grotesque sight we are surely going to have soon of Brand appearing on Question Time, moaning about equality, wealth distribution and the rich whilst he sits there with more money in his bank account than the other four panelists, Dimbleby and the whole audience put together.

These are my thoughts too.

As much as I agree with you in this particular instance, you think that everyone who has similar political leanings to Brand has primary school level points Moosey - whether they're the man in the street or a career politician with forty years experience.  :P

All politicians have primary school level points, that is because the average UK voter has the critical thinking ability of an average primary school child.

This is true, but at least most others articulate their points without the mincey, limp wristed, tangled vocabulary Brand uses to try and make it sound as if he is saying something more advanced than you'd expect from an 8-year-old.

There you go, Matt the stereotypical lefty, green with envy at wealth acquired legitimately through supply and demand under the free flow of market forces.

It's the hypocrisy I can't stand, when Brand uses his wealth to practice what he preaches I'll raise my glass to him.

Someone made the point that it's all well and good accusing Brand of acting like a child but all you need to do is spend 30 mins watching PMQ's each week to see the people supposedly running our country acting exactly the same.

You think? I really don't see the comparison.

Personally think PMQ's is absolutely fantastic and I record it every week, I'm so glad we something like that in this country, many don't. And it's very rare the speaker has to tell somebody off.

Of course you get some shouting and jeering but you have nearly 700 people in a room passionate about what they are doing. It happens.

I find it embarrassing and incredibly annoying. Watching a bunch of fat, egotistical wankers blame each other for the country's problems while nothing actually gets done. No thanks.
