Forest Post- Match aka 'The Referee's a W*****'

Referee was awful, I agree.

Buying your mans dive and giving a penalty, could have cost our lot the game.

lol

Most obvious penalty I've ever seen.

Virtually no protests from the Forest players.

I was actually going to say I was presently surprised by how few Forest fans we'd had on here gloating!

Thought Knocky was sensational in the first half. Deserved at least one assist. He was still our best player in the 2nd half. Absolutely baffled when NP took him off. One of the weirdest decisions I've ever seen.

I know he's far from perfect but sometimes Knockaert must wonder what the fvck he's doing here.

Beats 2 men in the box, lifts the ball the back post for Dyer to knock the ball into an open net. Dyer just watches it, dithers and then shoots wide.

Dyer, Nugent (3 times) and Taylor-Fletcher all missed chances today that they should be taking 7 times out of 10.

Today was just one of those days.

Still can't work Lloyd didn't hit that chance 1st time.

Was it GTF who missed the chance at the end? Wasn't watching.

Could have been another blatant pen earlier in the second half, Dyer beat his man, then got shoved over cynically. Forest got lucky in the build up to the corner for the second goal - they got a throw in, and took it a clear 15 yards further forward than where it went out. Plenty of bad decisions from the ref today, thought he was dreadful. Obviously not the reason we lost though - poor finishing and 2 almighty defensive mix ups is the only thing to blame.

Just read that Knockaert's yellow means he's suspended for Ipswich.

Not good.

It was exactly the same as the penalty you were awarded here last season. Was that a dive too?

He picked the ball up inside the Leicester half, with their whole team in front of him, and managed to get all the way into the six yard box and put it on a plate for Dyer. It's no exaggeration to say that Messi would have been proud of that. Absolutely brilliant.

Just wasn't our day today. Told my mate Nugent would miss. No surprise. Missed so many good chances today.

can't blame the ref either. He was a bit shit but wasn't the reason we lost. They were very lucky and we didn't take our chances.

knew we would lose. Still, a cracking start to the season

I've been reading through this and a couple of other threads and I really don't get it....... :dunno:

People saying we were poor, bad day etc, etc, clearly are not playing attention, we played reasonably well first half and got shut down second, but we were no better or worse than in most games in recent weeks.

The difference is that absolutely nothing went for us first half, a few decent chances went begging, but to be fare no worse than normal but forest made few mistakes so we didn't actually score and we made two real clangers, we could easily be 2 or 3 goals up but were instead 2 down.

Second half was again typical, plenty of effort but no real cutting edge, strange substitutions that somehow managed to reduce any possible chance of us getting back into the game and we didn't.

The penalty came out of the blue, we really did not look like scoring in open play but at 2-1 we would have been in with a chance, but we missed it and that, pretty much, was that.

Not read all the posts so apologies if this is repeated elsewhere.

Was the ref honestly that bad? He was a little pedantic, but certainly by no means the worst we've had. He definitely was not the reason why we lost today.

We had an uncharacteristic bad day today, a number of our better players struggled and we badly missed the energy Vardy gives us. Forest scored from two attacks and then defended very well after that. They closed us down very well and did to us what we did to Watford last week, in terms of forcing mistakes.

I was particularly disappointed with Nugent today. Even discounting the penalty, his overall performance was pretty abject. I also think King and Dyer struggled today, but nobody particularly excelled themselves.

Overall, a particularly disappointing result and performance but I'm sure we'll get over it. It may well prove to be a blessing in disguise in terms of bringing us down to earth, and perhaps re-focusing our efforts.

Some of his runs today were phenomenal. Such amazing footwork! I was astonished when NP took him off second half. He was our only spark today!

He was honestly abysmal. Even the F***** fans thought they had a 12th man, particularly in the 1st half.

That said, pretty much to a man we've lamented our wastefulness with all the opportunities we carved out, and nobody's claimed the ref was more than a hindrance, much less the reason we lost, so I'm not sure who you're responding to.

Question...and I would love as many people to reply as possible.....

Do you think there are some fans that sit in waiting for a bad result, like today's?

Utter self sabotage isn't it?

Posted

I think some do, but those that want to be proved right about something. Doesn't matter how many games their point hasn't been proved, the first chance they can they are waiting to say "I told you so"

Brilliant way of putting it. Such a shame

Where has the real Foxestalk gone??!!

Having read through the forum for the last few minutes there seems to be a distinct lack of knee-jerking and overreaction. What's happened? Have we all suddenly become reasonable fans who realise the occasional loss and bit of bad luck isn't the end of the world?

So, just for good measure.

BOOOOOOOOOOOO

PEARSON OUT. HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE'S DOING.

NUGENT IS SH*T

THE REF IS A W****R

BOOOOOOOOOOOO

WE'VE JUST BEEN LUCKY WITH OUR 10 WINS AND HAVE BEEN FOUND OUT BY AN AVERAGE SIDE WITH AVERAGE PLAYERS

LET'S GET SVEN BACK

That certainly makes me feel like I'm reading the normal Foxestalk.

For what it's worth, though, I thought we were very unlucky but Forest also defended very well in the second half. If we'd have put our chances away in the first 20 mins (a glaring open goal for Lloyd who didn't know what to do with the ball and a free header from 6 yards for Nuge being two of the highlights) it could well have been a different game. We were poor going forward in the second half and seemed to have no clue how to break them down. Even when presented with a free shot from 12 yards we couldn't find the back of the net! It was very disappointing, especially as it was a loss to Forest, but we will have to pick ourselves up and go again after the international break.

The ref was poor and inconsistent right from the off. He books Wasilewski then minutes later fails to book their player for taking out our player cynically as we were springing a dangerous counter attack! But, he is not to blame for our loss.

At a loss with Nige's substitutions though and still can't work it out! Knocky was our only spark and he also took off our width and pace in Dyer and Schlupp. Very very confusing.

Overall a bad day but it doesn't change my opinion that we will be right up there come the business end of the season. They have a good squad and it's not like we have a divine right to beat everyone and anyone in this league. Promotion has to be earnt and I feel this is a good lesson to learn from.

And... What is it with us and international breaks? Strange coincidence really!

Check out the Andy King thread, you'll find the knee jerking and overreaction in there.

Watched the highlights and whilst they can be misleading, it looks like we should have been a couple up before they got the first and even after that we could have had a couple more.

Of course today meant more to their players. If you've read their local press and seen some of their fans forums, they have been absolutely slaughtered this last few weeks. They really did need to get a result today whereas we perhaps took it a little lightly.

Even saying that, it looked as if we should have had something from the game but its a little difficult to complain when its just one game.

What is concerning is Nugent. His dry spell is more than ongoing and I know we were a little limited with choices today but when Wood is back, i'd seriously be thinking about a Wood - Vardy partnership.

Posted

Well today was the reality check we would get sooner or later. Fair play to Forest, they did well today and earned their three points. We had our chances, but we were not good enough in the final third. I'm sure we will bounce back! Have a nice weekend X

Played well early and shouldve had the game in our hands within half and hour, but wasnt to be.

Weve ridden our luck of late, (watfords second half last week was much like our first yesterday)

We arent going to win every game, seriously pissed its against the scum that we lose, but, hey ho, good results around us, so upward and onwards.

I keep seeing people say how the ref was poor of which I agree with and how he wasn't the reason we lost

Maybe he wasn't but he certainly had his say

He certainly cost us set piece chances by denying quite a few blatant fouls around the edges of the box

He could have easily given Lascelles an handful of yellows in the first half which would have been to our advantage obviously

We can't blame Mason for the defeat.

But how arrogant was he? Lost control of the game early on and thought he was the star of the show.

Lost control early on is spot on. Once gone, he couldn't get it back.

Poor referee this bloke.

However, as many have said, they had a game plan, saw it out very well and beat us in our own backyard.

I'm afraid to say that, yesterday, there was no Plan B again. We could have played for hours and still not scored.

Posted

I don't buy that. Maybe Nugent could have played for hours and not scored. We created chances throughout the game, we just didn't take them.

Let me clarify... Second half, after the changes were made. You're right, first half was different.
