Forest Post- Match aka 'The Referee's a W*****'

It literally was a bad day at the office. It's as simple we didn't take our chances, they were average and (not so graciously) accepted two gifts.

We will finish above them in the top two, they will scrape the play-offs at best, time to forget about it and move on.

lol

Most obvious penalty I've ever seen.

Virtually no protests from the Forest players.

I was actually going to say I was presently surprised by how few Forest fans we'd had on here gloating!

Not really anything for them to gloat about really. They got a win but from our shocking defending. They didn't deserve to be 2-0 up at the break and were every bit as negative as Leeds, especially second half.

Someone compared them to us in 2011/12 and that's about right. Gloating about this win would be a bit embarrassing, in fact, we should be gloating because they have to watch that team every week.

Both teams were terrible but at least it's a freak performance and result for us this season. I thought Forest would make the play-offs easily, but going on yesterday, they're going to struggle just to scrape into 6th

Question...and I would love as many people to reply as possible.....

Do you think there are some fans that sit in waiting for a bad result, like today's?

Utter self sabotage isn't it?

Or do you think people just get emotional and frustrated when we don't turn up against our biggest rivals.

From what I have read nobody is having a real moan, just frustration.

A question, do you think the over positive fans sit and wait for days like today, so they can slate people for having a moan.

**** me it's football, if the team plays shit their performance will come in for criticism, if they play good they get praised, nothing new or complicated really.

Yesterday's performance as a team and some individuals wasn't up to standard, so guess what.

I live in Notts and got a barragew of abuse for ab out 2 hrs after the match yesterday.

Forest fans think they are a 'far better' team than us and they have started our downfall to drop out the top 6

Christ the way some of them went on they thought they'd won the league! One of them said they will be in the prem next year after that performance! I didn't think they were that good lucky that's all.

Then as more shandys went down some of them got quite aggressive towards me as I kept reminding them of the last game last season and that we are still in 2nd and 6 points ahead of them.

I didn't think they were 'bothered' about us? Obviously they are the way they were acting last night.

Bunch of cocks, even 'Cloughy' and their european victorys eventually surfaced too.

We were a bit cocky though building up to the game.

I live in South Leicestershire, work in Leicester and have been a Forest fan long enough to remember the great side - I mean 1966/67. Do you think I haven' endured weeks of gloating from Leicester fans "many of whom never see a game"? It's "water of a ducks back to me" as I am from the generation that has seen Leicester go from being our greatest rials, whilst Derby where a team of languishing in the lower divisions, to being "that team down the road", when Clough joined us and stoked up the hatred between Derby and Forest.

On to yesterday's game. Thank you Mr. Pearson for taking off the only player causing us real problems in Knockaert. Whether he was tired, injured or it was just a stupid substitution really doesn't matter, the fact that Knockaert was causing us real problems is undeniable.

I thought the referee was distinctly average for the Champioship as most don't seem to have much idea about their job, but I don't think he favoured one team in particular. Davies was right to take off Lascelles at half time because he would probably been sent off had he syayed on.

The fact remains that you had 15 attempts at goal according to the BBC stats and you managed to get just 2 on target wheras we had 8 attempts on goal with 5 on target. Your forwards let you down and you don't (or didn't) have the capability to score goals from midfield - it's worth noting that we have two midfielders Landsbury and Reid on 5 goals this season so if our forwards don't score our midfielders are equally capable of doing so.

My one regret is that I am off on holiday for a few days so I will miss the next five days at work - the one time I can honestly say that!!

Despite yesterdays result, our performances have been pretty consistent this season.

We play a strong attacking style that tends to wear down the opposition so many of the goals we do score come from pressure, competing hard for the 'second ball' and forcing errors, fine as far as it goes but less effective against the better teams.

Yesterday, going forward things did not fall for us, the Forest defending was robust and they were first to everything in their box and the chances that did fall to us were squandered by our less than clinical finishing. Most weeks an attacking performance like that would have seen us a couple of goals in front.

But it didn't and a couple of moments of near panic in our own box left us behind, to a team that on the balance of play, was clearly second best.

This brought us to the second half when our inability to break down a packed defence once again became clear, Dyer is ineffective against a packed defence and our only real creative spark was subbed off, strangely. With the arrival of GTF we started to go long and although he did quite well we were invariably outnumbered.

The penalty should have been our lifeline, but was missed, we never looked likely to score again.

I don't get you Dave?

Your assertion that we play 'a strong and attacking style' which is 'less effective against the better teams'.... Well I thought that was how you wanted us to play? If it's 'less effective against the better teams' what's your Plan b?

I'd say our atracking style is better suited against the bettr teams. Forest were poor and sat behind the ball. Also doesn't help missing 4 sitters!

Just a bit of a freak game imo

They're going barmy on their forum lol

Ok its 3 points, which they haven't been getting recently but wow they were shit! For the money they've spent you'd expect someone to stand iut for them. Hobbs was their best player

Like I said last week buddy, I believe a Hobbs/Morgan partnership, under the tutelage of Pearson would have helped us secure promotion last season.

Didn't Hull offer us a cash plus Hobbs offer this summer, for Kasper?

Though I like the Dane, I'd have snapped their hands off personally.

Yeah it would've been a good partnership. Wouldn't swap Kasper in a million years though

Typical Leicester for me, beat a top team like Watford away from home comprehensively and then go on to lose the next game easily to minows like Forest.

I dont know why they care about us so much either

I don't think any of us are exaggerating when we say they were poor, I think in footballing terms they are definitely the worst side I have seen at the KP this season, sometimes facing an opposition as negative and scrappy as that can bring you down, and that's exactly what happened!

Yeah I agree, it was strange as it was what you expect from the likes of Barnsley etc. Forest game for a 0 - 0 and luckboxed a win unfortunately for us.

People are doing Forest a disservice on here IMO. They set up to play as the away side and executed it very well. It reminded me of us at Derby early in the season.

They were far from special but sometimes you don't have to be, they got the first goal and their tactics after that worked a treat.

They've clearly got some decent players and I'm sure they'll finish in the top 6.

Oh, what a letdown. Big crowd, good form and the potential to go top. Didn't take it, they weren't pretty but they were effective. We should've capitalised on our first 20 minutes with the chances for Nugent and Dyer. Pearson had it right, we weren't good enough in both boxes.

It's not a crisis, but a disappointing day. We deserved to lose and need to improve on that performance. We need to go to Ipswich and play how we did at Watford. Missing Wood and Vardy not being able to start was a blow.

We'll recover and I hope we learn from it.

Still trying to work out how we deserved to lose

Didn't defend our box well enough, didn't test their keeper enough.

They were quite happy to sit on 2-0 and we didn't stretch them and get in behind.

One positive is that Knockaert's delivery frombset pieces is superb. It's about time we had a player that can beat the first man from a corner

He's definately worked on it. You can see the difference from when he first joined and his final ball was not consistent. It's probably half the reason Pearson sold Marshall, as Marshall was diabolical at crossing and corners and shown very little improvement.
