Weller in Tights Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Myself and a few mates were amongst the first up at the back of L block to stand up when the 'Walkers' stadium opened. It took us a couple of seasons of constant harrasment by stewards, eventually it reached a stage where a standing section was established. We created a good atmosphere up there back then with no drum. When the 'club sponsored drum' was placed there, we moved out. I personally do not see how it adds to the atmosphere. Those that say 'without it there would be no noise', sorry I don't buy that. Today it was an embarrassment, as it has been on previous occasions. Please get rid of it. The drum simply leads to repetitive chants and that's it. Don't get me wrong, repetitive chants have their place, but you don't need a drum for them. Where have the old classic songs gone? Please get rid of the drum.
Dan Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 If there's no noise without the drum then that alone is the problem, not the fact that the drum's there. I hardly heard it today. It was good where I was today in SK1 so didn't really hear much elsewhere.
LCFC FOX Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Where are you now N block? You should start getting these "old" songs going up there then. Harassment from stewards sounds familiar
davieG Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zC9okWm8A6o Not really, I agree. People end up relying on it and don't start songs waiting for the drum to initiate something then as you say it's some boring repetitive crap.
bjblyth Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Drum starts the songs, only that stand starts the songs! Whenever I've sat in other parts of the stadiums it's like a library and I'm ashamed to be sat amongst you quiet lot. Keep the drum.
Leicester Lass Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 The most annoying thing for me is the attempt to put a drum beat to every single chant, totally unnecessary and sounds plain stupid most of the time.
davieG Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Drum starts the songs, only that stand starts the songs! Whenever I've sat in other parts of the stadiums it's like a library and I'm ashamed to be sat amongst you quiet lot. Keep the drum. Because they've all got used to the drum starting songs, that's why we never create anything original because the drummer always starts the same old stuff
Kitchandro Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Drum starts the songs, only that stand starts the songs! Whenever I've sat in other parts of the stadiums it's like a library and I'm ashamed to be sat amongst you quiet lot. Keep the drum. The drum starts the songs because people are waiting for it. Without the drum people would be forced to do something themselves. It's so obviously detrimental to the atmosphere.
Jakemoore Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 SK1 was buzzing today...amazing how quickly it died down by the time the chants reached us in SK2! There's too many boring old gits in the kop these days! It makes me laugh how anyone of a certain age can reminisce about the good old days in the kop at Filbert Street, and yet now it's those very same people who refuse to imitate that atmosphere at the KP! I personally have always loved the drum but I'm not a regular to home matches so I won't comment with too much conviction!
Weller in Tights Posted 9 November 2013 Author Posted 9 November 2013 Now at back row of N block. before I am attacked by the 'Holier than thou' crew on here, I take my 12 yr old son with some of his mates, along with a few of my mates and their kids. Tried 'Tip Toe through the Trent End' today, unfortunately me and one of my mates were the only ones who knew it. We don't necessarily need all the old songs though, however some of them were classics eg: -Those were the days -When you're smiling -One fine day -Bertie Mee I've no problem with new chants/songs coming along (younger supporters come on do your stuff), The drum just really gets on my tits now, even if you thought it was ok at the start, surely you're all bored with it now.
jamesmilner Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 come on be totally honest ? drum or no drum our support/singing is pathetic . fact !!
abdulla the fox Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Shut up your just a fair weather fan why just moan about the drum today? Its been here years! Get a grip or get out the ground.

Never heard of those. That's your (older fans) fault, because you must have stopped singing them at some point, hence we younger fans never heard or learnt them.
Ian W LCFC Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 I thought the atmosphere in the first 30 minutes was incredible. Then it all vanished and the horrible sound of happy Forest fans were ringing in my ears for the other 60.
nblocker Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 To be honest, after the ref blowed after the minutes silence the fans kicked in block L + N Sang together in fact most of the red twats shit umselfs with the atmostphere we created , to our "nicked palace song" i thought these bastards are going to get it today from us, yet again we fail on the big fans ocasion ,all the stats after the game look good, but on the day we were piss poor ,no matter what they say
Trav Le Bleu Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Because they've all got used to the drum starting songs, that's why we never create anything original because the drummer always starts the same old stuff Exactly, it's reached the point where Jobber sets the tone. If his head goes down, he stops drumming and everyone stops chanting. Because 1 person has stopped everyone else does. It's ridiculous. I'm not blaming him for that - it just shouldn't have become the responsibilty of 1 person. Lose the drum and get back to singing 100% all the time through the whole match. I wasn't there, but from the radio it sounded like the Florist fans put us to shame. It is an embarrassing fact that when we go behind, we shut up - but that is when your team needs you more than ever! I NEVER, EVER want to hear away supporters sing, "you only sing when your winning!" Unless we're playing away.

I actually herd you sing this today, but the reason it doesn't get spread is because the block has about 70% 15-19 year olds who may not know the words. Hope you keep it up against teams like Millwall because it's more likely to get herd by everyone
Dan Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 I thought the atmosphere in the first 30 minutes was incredible. Then it all vanished and the horrible sound of happy Forest fans were ringing in my ears for the other 60. I thought they were completely average personally. Derby in the 2-1 were ten times as good for their numbers.
LCFC FOX Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 Forest fans were very good today and anyone who says they wasn't is just bitter. Yes I hate them but they are the best this season. Obviously helped being 2-0 up

nblocker Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 They even sang old song build a bonfire and put leicester in middle , this is a very old song , so i would say most of the red twats loved beating us,even though we are not there rivals NOTTS FOREST Will always be our rivals no mater what they say, todays result was like winning the fa cup for them, even though we are not derby.,well done forest today with gretted teeth
Guest ttfn Posted 9 November 2013 Posted 9 November 2013 I thought Forest fans were good today. Don't begrudge them that, it was probably a not dissimilar experience for them this weekend as it was for us last weekend, to some extent avenging the end of last season.
