Guest shearfox Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 Under Sven we were outside of the play-offs and beaten convincingly by Millwall at home... around two years later we are top having completely destroyed the same side. Let's hope it continues I'm sure it will because Pearson has really grown and we have with him.

Let's not get carried away Millwall had Jackett then as manager and were a better team than we played yesterday. It is great we are top of the league and I love it let's wait till May though before we start celebrating. We went top last season about the same time and look how that ended? We scraped into the play offs.
Happy Fox Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 After December we will really know if we are title contenders, 46 points or more will be a good indicator so 8 points needed from 6 games is certainly doable! QPR away is massive I see them as our rivals for 1st spot, sorry Burnley but playoffs at best for them, their squad depth being there main weakness.
Jace Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 I'm more than happy for QPR to win the league as long as we come 2nd
Monsell1976 Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 I'm not going to get into a debate because it would just be covering old ground, but yes we were just outside the playoffs, early into the season when Sven was sacked, so nobody will ever know what he could have achieved here. In the same breath Pearson is doing great this season, but we did last season, nothing is won in December and a promising season can go up in smoke, as we know. All being well we can all sing Pearsons praises at the end of the season, after a promotion winning season, but this season will show if we have grown under him, if we don't bottle it again, we have, if we do I will stick by what I said in the summer, he would be the nearly man, and fresh ideas should come in to take us to the next level. This isn't a Pearson bashing, but being realistic, nothing is won yet.

True Monsell but if you look at last December we were a playoff team and didn't look anything like automatic promotion contenders like Cardiff who had that grit, signing Wood helped but didn't increase the momentum.
LCCFox96 Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 We mauled a weak side yesterday in a very convincing performance. Bar david forde it could have been 5 or 6 but they were a weak side. Nonetheless a very positive opening 4 months but the job is not done yet. This is the biggest month in several seasons for us now. We need to make it count.
Matt Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 I think the coming month will shape our season, don't get me wrong we can go unbeaten in December and still fall out of contention for the top 2, even not make the playoffs, the hard work won't be over if we should go unbeaten in December, so might say it will get even harder, but let's see where we are at the end of December, review it and move on from there. If we get through this month well, I think we can become abit more confident but even then we need to keep it up. My worry is we havn't had a 'blip' yet and I cannot see us going a whole season without one. However whilst all results seemed to go our way yesterday, with Burnley and QPR in the coming weeks, hopefully we can capitalise on those around us, giving us a slight cushion then should we hit a 'blip' we have sort of covered ourselves. As Pearson said yesterday we shouldn't worry about what others do, ultimately it's what we do what matters, if we focus on our results that's all we can do. The Leicester fan in me having seen so many false dawns, getting excited only to be let down, year after year has to ask the question, when is it going to all go tits up?! I'm taking game by game not getting too excited, but am quietly enjoying it! I seem to have gone of on a tangent here going off topic abit, as usual!
Fox42 Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 The strongest team we've played and beaten at home this season is Huddersfield sitting in 12th place - that's alarming.
Matt Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 The strongest team we've played and beaten at home this season is Huddersfield sitting in 12th place - that's alarming. BUT, we're yet to lose to anyone above this season! And on a serious note it's a cliche but you can only beat who you are put up against, I understand your point we will have stronger test's but so far we overcome everything thrown at us and that's all we can do, can't grumble.
Babylon Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 The strongest team we've played and beaten at home this season is Huddersfield sitting in 12th place - that's alarming.Derby don't count then? Burnley can't even beat Huddersfield... That's more alarming.
Carl the Llama Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 The strongest team we've played and beaten at home this season is Huddersfield sitting in 12th place - that's alarming. What about Fulham? Or do cup matches not count?

I didn't like Pearsons style, tactics or results for large parts of last season, and I wouldn't class myself as his biggest fan, but this post is not being critical of the man this season, he is doing a great job at present, but some of us need to slow down a bit, enjoy the form we are in, and let's hope it can continue, if it does the rest will sort itself out. Anyway will stop going on now .
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 ONE GAME AT A TIME... We've had a superb start to the season. Let's not get carried away and let's continue to impress. I'm sure this is what Pearson would be telling them. I'm quietly excited... But we ain't won nowt just yet.

Guest shearfox Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 The strongest team we've played and beaten at home this season is Huddersfield sitting in 12th place - that's alarming. Derby, Fulham... away from home we have beaten better teams than Huddersfield, besides Burnley were beaten by Huddersfield. A lot to be concerned about we are top 38 from 17, but it is just all luck .. hasn't our problem been in the past that we got beat by the lower teams anyway..?
Chrysalis Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 we looking stronger than last year but I refuse to slag off sven as I felt we did improve as a team under him immensely. sven took us on when we bottom in horrid form, he turned us into a very exciting team to watch and we won many games with huge goal margins. Sadly his 2nd season he couldnt sign the players he wanted and it started to fall apart but I dont feel he was a bad manager for us. Pearson, I called for his head last summer, the bad run in the late part of the season 9 times out of 10 a manager doesnt recover from those runs, its historical fact not theory, sven was sacked for a run that was nowhere near as bad. But by then I think our owners learnt sacking a manager isnt as cheap and simple as they thought as replacing a manager also usually means changng players as well and FFP was a consideration in the summer so pearson was given another chance. This season he has surprised me and we are defenitly looking more resilient compared to last season. I think burnley will fall away, qpr will finish top 2, so I then look at the other contenders. Derby are emerging a serious threat, but we have a points cushion over themm, forest, blackpool I think wont be good enough, reading I wont write off. In short the top 6 I think is weaker than last year, and I think this is a brilliant chance to make it up with pearson.
