The reason why Pearson is not being linked with any other clubs is because he is set to receive a massive bonus if he achieves promotion with us this season, it would be mad for him to leave now when he is so close to a big pay day. The board are very happy with him right now he is achieving everything they could possibly want top of the league whilst drastically reducing the the wage bill and quarter finals of the cup anyone that thinks different would be crazy to think otherwise. There is no need for Pearson to sign a new contract now because he will have work available next season regardless of what happens, he believes we can achieve promotion and if he does he will be offered much better money in the summer than signing now for what the club could offer anyway.

Nige isn't stupid. He doesn't like ego's either, and wigan have a fair few of them! This is nige's squad, it's like his second family, he won't leave. Although we do need to sort out his contract ASAP, he's the best manager we've had since MON, losing him would destroy us.

Let's get real, Wigan are still punching above their weight as a club. Pearson isn't about to commit career suicide.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Wigan have the parachute payments, the remnants of a decent squad and a great Chairman. And they are still in Europe I believe.

Pearson has six months left on his contract, players nearly out of contract and, although we are top, have won nothing for years.

I doubt that Pearson would leave now. He seems to be the sort of bloke that wants to finish something he's started. But the Wigan job could be a very good one for the right man. Imagine, for example, Whelan offering Pearson a lucrative, three year contract plus considerable money to spend on strengthening the squad.

The only thing that would put me off is the size of the stadium and the crowds they get. Both are shite.

I agree with all you say Col.

But I still think the club must have done something about these contracts by now.

They must have spoken to people even if nothing is in writing.

If not the owners really are playing a dangerous game.

Didn't Birmingham have parachute payments and a place in Europe not so long ago?

Wigan seem to be a much better run club than Birmingham. If they get the right bloke in, expect them to make play offs this season I'd imagine.

Wigan can't cope with the added pressure of the Europa league, which is obviously affecting their league campaign

Is it? They've won 3, drawn one and lost 1 of the five matches after Europa League games.
