nlukka Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Kasper 7 - great save, some good distribution RDL 6 - good to have him back, good attacking threat. Morgan 6 - didn't look as sharp today, understandable with being ill during the week. Moore 5 - should have done better for their goal Konchesky 6 - got forward well but poor crosses into the box. defensively sound Knocky 6 - first half he looked lively, second half think he made the wrong decisions with the ball and tried to showboat a little Drinkwater 6 - didn't have much influence on the game James 6 - good tackles but wasn't a big influence either Dyer 7 - good threat from him going on the outside of defenders and crossing from the byline. Nugent 6 - some good link-up play, thought he should have shot instead of passing to Vardy at the end of the first half Vardy 7.5 - great running and determination, let down by his finishing today. GTF 6.5 - better hold-up play and brought others into the game. Think he needs to get in the box more though. Schlupp & Was N/A

Guest Col city fan Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Kasper 8 Fantastic save for the 1 on 1 De Laet 6.5 Better first half, but its good to have him back. Will get better with games Moore 5. First half terrible- didn't win anything in the air, wrong side of his man a few times. Second half improved slightly. Morgan 6.5 Did ok against a very good front two Konchesky 7.5 Thought he was very good. Kept making himself available for Kasper, defended well also Knockaert 6 Good first half, second nothing came off for him. He had 3-4 players around him most of the time. Encouraging thing about him is, he still keeps going and trying things even when it's not going for him Drinkwater 6. Couldn't impose himself on the game as usual. I think they'd done their homework on him and marked him out the game. Never seemed to have any time/space James 6 Better first half. Did ok Dyer 8. Our best player for me Nugent 6. Much better first half than recent games. Poor second half, looked sluggish (again) Vardy 8. Everywhere even though he's carrying an injury. Did excellently for the penalty. HAS to do better with that header though. Burnley were decent- very strong in the air, stopped our midfield playing. However, I did feel we were the better side which is encouraging. There won't be many other sides as good as them. Disappointing not to get 3 points. Spot on....
cjslcfc Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Kasper 7 - great save after RDL's backpass and not too much else to talk about. His distribution is a bit erratic though, which is frustrating RDL 6.5 - Good to see him back as it injects even more pace in our side, we're frighteningly quick at times. When 90 mins match fit I assume he will continue at RB, has been missed Morgan 7 - Solid Moore 6 - Passing not great and defended OK. Tough ask for our CBs today with that strikeforce and their link-ups. Konckesky 7 - Solid. Good going forward for us as well, always offered an option. Knockaert 6.5 - First half he ran rings around them. Thought he was a bit quiet at times today though. As has been mentioned it might be down to him being double pr even treble marked when on the ball. Second half his effort faded a bit Drinky 7 - Good in possession today, although he has had much more influential games for us this season. James 6 - Didn't show too much today. All our CMs are a bit similar, which means we struggle at times. I found that I forgot he was playing at times during the match. He'd suddenly pop up and receive the ball after a period of quiet. Dyer 8 - Biggest threat today for us. End product continues to be frustrating at times but we all know if it was spot on he wouldn't be in this league. Vardy 7.5 - Tireless. Got a few bumps and bruises for his troubles as well. Needs to improve his finishing, that missed header was crucial Nugent 6.5 - Cool pen. Good first half, poorer second. He links our attacking moves well. Still needs to improve his overall form. GTF 6.5 - good touch Schlupp - N/A Wasilewski 6 - solid. Always worry he is going to make rash challenges, however.
inckley fox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Schmeichel 7 De Laet 6 Moore 6 Morgan 6 Konchesky 5 Knockaert 6 James 7 Drinkwater 6 Dyer 7 Nugent 6 Vardy 6 GTF 6 Wasilewski 6 Schlupp 5 I thought all four defenders were at fault at times today and at times we looked haphazard at the back. Knockaert's game was a tale of two halves, Vardy showed the best and worst sides of his game, James was responsible for a lot of our pace first half and put the foot in in the second, I'm surprised to see him overlooked on here. I'm also a little confused by the Taylor-Fletcher praise, there were a couple of nice touches and very little else.
RobHawk Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 It's funny the different views people have around the ground. 1st half Moore absolutely bossed the defence for me! 1st chance I've really had to see him but he outshone Wes in the first half. Second half I couldn't view so well and he was obviously disappointed he didn't do better with the goal. Not so good at RB either but anyone thinking he was poor first half watched a different game to me. Lloyd MOM though for me. Always causing trouble. Just wish he would have took his man on and hit the by line more in the second half. At one point it was like Forrest Gump when I shouted run lloydy run! Vardy did very well but should have put one of those chances away! How he got that header off target I'll never know!
Guest MattP Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Schmeichel 7 - fine save got us a point De Laet 6 - didn't look fit Morgan 7 - best of an iffy defence Moore 5 - appalling anticipation for a defender on the goal Knochesky 6 - did ok Knockaert 6 - great first half, being dreadful second James 6 - steady Drinkwater 7 - thought he played well Dyer 7 - never stopped running Nugent 6 - nice penalty but nut much else Vardy 7 - ran his balls off but finishing is letting him down Subs: Taylor-Fletcher 5 doesn't strike me as someone who is a goal threat Wasilewski 7 far better at centre back Schlupp 4 - getting worse with age, got the ball five times and I think it resulted in five Burnley possessions.

If you sky plussed the game, watch the first half again - Moore consistently got the wrong side of his man and beaten in the air. Pathetic defending for the goal also. Can't see him starting at QPR

Thought Moore had a really good game with a really mature head on young shoulders. Everyone blaming him for the goal, but that was right down the other end and couldn't see it. My betting is those being particularly harsh on Moore watched it on Sky and saw numerous replays of his one second mistake so that it seemed much worse than it was. I've seen it since and to be fair there were 3 or 4 players that should have done better to stop the goal.
Stadt Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Schmeichel - 7 Dependable. RDL - 5 Shakey first game back as expected. Wes - 6 2012-13 Wes please come back. Moore - 6 Not his best game. Konch - 5.5 Standard wooden Konchesky Knocky - 7 good first half, frustrating second. James - 6 Unspectacular Drinky - 6 Not quite his dominant best Dyer - 7 Looked the most likely to make something happen Vardy - 6 Alright Nuge - 6 His penalty salvaged his and our game.
Father Ted Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Schmeichel 6.5 - Excellent stop from Vokes when he was one on one. Little else to do otherwise AGAIN (I'm getting really annoyed at teams taking points off us and having one or two shots all game!) De Laet 7 - Wow we missed that lad, never stopped running, did look spent though after about an hour. Moore 8 - Absolute rock, build the team around this lad in the centre, showed that he's capable of playing on the left where Morgan can't. Morgan 6 - Not the greatest of games, slightly concerned about his form Konch 7 - Solid again, he's really picked up this year. I gave him a lot of stick last season but been solid this. Knockaert 7 - What's with all the hate? It was evident that Burnley's game plan was to rush and close him down in packs as soon as he got the ball and he was always outnumbered. Was very effective in the first half. James 7 - Dynamic, kept things ticking. Makes things happen. Drinky 6 - Was a bit quiet. Dyer 7 - Good first half, Lloyd Bale. Vardy 8 - MOTM, endless running again. Took numerous knocks for his troubles, Burnley couldn't handle him. Should have scored first half. I lost count of the amount of times he robbed Shackell or blocked one of his long balls. Nugent 7 - A changed man? First half was the best I have seen him play for near on a year. Looked ****ed second half, not surprised, he actually ran in the first half (maybe because it was on Sky?) I'm just reading through other ratings and really can't understand how Moore and De Laet are being rated so low? And the abuse that Knockaert's getting? Some people on here are pathetic, we drew to the team who were top and limited them to two meaningful shots all game. We barely put a foot wrong at the back. We absolutely trounced them in the first half. How we never won that is beyond me.
Saxondale Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Schmeichel 7 - Amazing stop after De Laet's mistake. Some great distribution, some poor. De Laet 7 - Good game marred by massive clanger. In his defense, who would have expected that berk to be waiting ten yards offside. Morgan 8 - Immense but for the goal conceded. Moore 8 - As above Konchesky 7 - Supported in attack and defended generally well. Knockaert 7 - Tried all sorts of stuff but was stifled by Burnley's intense closing down. Drinkwater 7 - Often commanding but sometimes needs to press more and get a boot in. James 6 - Went missing at times but generally good. Dyer 8 - Our biggest threat. Again. Nugent 7 - Did what he could to break down the 11 man defense. Vardy 7 - Was stifled but caused a real nuisance to the defenders. If every player chased the ball down like Vards, we'd be fine. GTF 6 - Had no time or space Wasyl 6 - OK
Dickov22 Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 It really amazes me some of the marks people on here give certain players. It's as if we all watch a different game.
inckley fox Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 It really amazes me some of the marks people on here give certain players. It's as if we all watch a different game. I was on friendly terms with a manager who used to complain about the 'ten or twenty thousand managers in the stands'. He said the problem with fans was that they rarely watched a game properly. The second half was always focused on more than the first, opposition tactics largely ignored and a few fleeting moments of brilliance, or perhaps a one-off howler, were always zoomed in on at the expense of the 90 minutes as a whole. They allowed results to blinker them and paid no attention to off-the-ball movement. He also pointed out, rightly I think, that few fans actually recognise their own players and usually need someone else to point out who is doing what. I think these reviews are a prime example of this. James' constant pressing and incessant work-rate have been overlooked because they weren't pivotal in any of the games' key moments. Some fans have focused on a few mazy dribbles by Knockaert in the first twenty minutes, others on his lacklustre second half. Some have looked at De Laet's pace down the flank in the first half hour, others have ignored all of that and focused on one crucial error. But balance is essential here. We shouldn't ignore the great work that Vardy, Moore, De Laet and Drinkwater undertook, but neither should we ignore the glaring errors they committed that cost/nearly cost us. Sadly people seem to look at either one or the other.

Dickov22 Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Of course. There are a few examples on this forum of people who watch a game properly, though perhaps the player ratings for the Burnley game didn't reflect this. Some have viewed Liam Moore as one of our best players. He was nowhere near. I can't understand people's views at times!
Dickov22 Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Can we make ratings for each half? Knocky would get a 7/8 for first half and 2 for the second. Got lazy, thought he could take the world on and made poor decisions. I'd view this completely differently- he was poor second half but 'lazy'???! I'd view it as a positive that despite things not coming off for him, he still kept trying to make things happen for us. He's got a good attitude.
