Its very hard for the younger generation to accept this today , but there was pretty much the same feelings of unease among the population when the first immigrants started coming in from the West Indies and Asia in the 50's early 60's

I saw an ITV news report at about 6 tonight, basically detailing this town in Romania that is funded by workers in Britain sending money back home. The vast majority were working (not on benefits) and the vast majority wanted to move back to Romania as soon as they could afford to. They also said that mass movement was unlikely and Spain and Italy are more popular locations. So it is fairly portrayed in the media. For all the right wing over-reacting regarding benefit scrounging, job taking etc, there is a subsequent left wing over-reaction from the other side saying how all Romanian immigrants will be perfect. So ronnie, your reaction is as tiresome as Hugo Sanchez's. We need honest discussion, not polarised opinions which are both incorrect.

Always have these discussions, but can't really write anything as no doubt the term 'you're racist' (or whatever) will pop up.

I see there was quite some shock and outrage on here when there was a thread about nurse's who had lost there jobs and there was talk of replacing them with foreign workers though. Not sure what the difference is personally.
