Vardinhio Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Just after a cheap pair really as my others are knackered, no fussed about brand at all but if I'm honest I don't really know where to start looking. Sports Direct seemed a good shout online but they have an endless amount! Any suggestions? These trainers need to take me up to half marathon distance.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Asics, Mizuno or Brookes is the simple answer - all of which will do a basic entry level shoe but it's worth getting a gait analysis if your going to be training for a half marathon.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Oh if your just looking for a website then www.wiggle.co.uk usually does some good discounted stuff.
Matt Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Pretty impressed with the Nike pop up store at Fosse Park tbh. Depends how cheap you want but i'm sure last time I popped in you could pick up a pair for £40 odd quid, maybe cheaper. I got a pair forget how much (£60 at a guess) a while ago.
Jon the Hat Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Go to a running shop for that sort of distance.
Guesty Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 If you're going cheap I'd say buy a sports insole. Especially if you get any foot, ankle, shin or knee pain.
Harry - LCFC Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 I hear Nigel's an expect on this sort of thing. Perhaps ping him a quick email? I'm sure he knows what's what.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 Leicester Running Shop on Clarendon Park Road do gait analysis, not sure it's worth trying to save a few quid if you're aiming t half marathon distance...
Merging Cultures Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 Brooks. Easily the best trainers I've ever had. Got to a proper sports/running shop and have them do a gait analysis and they will be able to recommend the right control type for you. Then try several brands and styles on.
Vlad the Fox Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 Brooks for me too. You need to go to a running shop if you don't know what you need though I would advise against going cheap unless you can find a bargain. However aldi do a pair for about a tenner I think.
Monk Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 Brooks for me. Used to run in Sauconys but they changed the design and messed it up for me.
Nick Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 'New Balance' if you need width fitting - getting the gait analysis done is the way forward, it's free in decent specialist running shops and can save your knees. All of the above mentioned brands are okay but it is best to get the shoe that fits our foot and your running style. If the Running Fox in Loughborough is still going, that's a good place to start in my experience.
Merging Cultures Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 One tip, I buy last seasons version online. Much cheaper than the current version but will have limited sizes. Although they change the styles yearly, which can mean you might not like the fit of a previous version. I am struggling to track down my favorite brooks (Glycerin 9) these days. I might be forced to buy the newer version.
