The Doctor Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Lucky to get a three match ban? Have a word mate! Personally I think anybody getting up him and saying he should be banned is a hypocrite! How many of you week in week out abuse the stewards? If you called a steward an idiot would you be banned? No! My old man is the head of match day security at Leicester and he's been abused for doing his job since 1971 but nobody had ever been banned for that so why should some jobsworth in an office demand more respect than someone trying to ensure that a crowd is managed properly during a game to ensure 'your' safety? BS! You've clearly never been if you think that calling a steward an idiot wouldn't get a ban. I've seen people taken to the cop shop for less.
Jackubu Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 shut up you clown. you think its ok to abuse staff by swearing at them just because you couldnt get a watford ticket (yes i heard about your antics in the shop that day). i would love you to come to my place of work and bring that attitude with you, id slap that greasy mop off your head. My antics which went unpunished unlike my dads. You're proving yourself to be the fool here my friend. Hiding behind a characteristic name and then become a hypocrite. I salute you. With respect, if you are steves son, you are hardly going to offer an unbiased, independent view. The difference is, being sworn or shouted at as a steward is expected. It comes as a hazard of the job. A lot of the time you are imposing authority (be it limited) and people may not always like it. If you sign up for it, you are naïve if you don't expect it. No different to police officers. They get called all sorts of shit, but it is expected and they accept it because that is the type of job. Not saying its right, but that's the way it is. Working in a shop is the last place I would expect to be abused at any level and it shouldn't be tolerated. Totally understood Larry, i agree with you in some aspects. You could assume a shop attached to a stadium maybe categorized differently from a normal retail shop and differently from a actual football club, if that makes sense.
Jace Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I signed 1 of these good behaviour contracts a couple of years ago when Sven was still in charge been on £25,000 a week since best thing I ever done.
Larry_LCFC Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Turned it off actually while people were looking at the scores while also doing other things, a pointless thing to do for a reaction. Think you will find he changed it back to pitchview, to continue showing the second half, as it is meant for. It does say it further back in the thread.
Donut Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Turned it off actually while people were looking at the scores while also doing other things, a pointless thing to do for a reaction. Members of staff will simply not do something to rile someone for their own amusement. Suggesting he turned a TV over to provoke someone into calling him an idiot? good grief this thread is absurd
Flyfox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Post-incident staff were heard to sing "We're Leicester City, we'll ban who we want"
Shrenchel Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Unnecessary punishment if he was overheard saying it to his nipper rather than actually abusing the the staff member directly. Less harsh than some of the other trivial shit the club dish out bans for though. Also, pretty sure this bloke had a pop at me for standing at an away game once, in which case I wish he'd got a lifetime ban from every football stadium in England. Apologies if that wasn't you mate, some other leisure wear model with a face like a droopy root vegetable maybe.

Most of the staff in their are in their late teens, and just working a Saturday (usually) job, which they just happened to find at the King Power Stadium. Being at a football stadium shouldn't even come into it to be honest. Its a home shop, full of home fans. Why should that make a job there at risk of abuse anymore than at ASDA (which would hand out exactly the same punishment can I add)

It does say it further back in the thread. Larry, i went down to the club shop friday night when we found out about the ban and spoke to a security guard and a club rep (who i wont name for the purposes of my comment). The security guard said the tv's were turned to pitch view to stop people coming in to solely look at scores and get out of the warmth (thats a genuine quote) The club rep admitted the ban was harsh as well. Says it all

Aren't you the charmer? I like your logic. Calling somebody an idiot = Bad, very bad. Deserves a life ban, mandatory sterilisation and 50 lashes with a horse whip. Threats of violence and personal insults = To be encouraged. Especially to those vile subhumans who use grossly offensive terms like idiot.

Although they shouldnt expect abuse like stewards and possibly players maybe working in coalition with a football club on match days means they should be more prepared for 'abuse'(Once again i use the ord abuse loosely for the respects of this thread). Maybe why the club employ numerous SIA badged security guards. Most of the staff are teenagers earning a bit of pocket and thats the complete same for the stewards. 90% of the stewards are just after a bit of extra money with the majority being young.

Says it all It doesn't matter why they do it, the fact is thats the club shop policy. The lad was told to change them, as per policy which he did. You're dad took exception to him following orders and said something he shouldn't have done. Which ever way you try and defend him, he was still in the wrong and the club have punished him (whether too harshly or not). The majority agree with the club on this one , and they wont reverse the decision now. Best just to suck it in and learn for the future.
Arrothefoxinoz Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Clearly never been? I've been to over 900 games mate and I worked as a Steward and at 18 years old I was abused by fans week in week out but that's acceptable is it because I'd be naive thinking I wouldn't? It's no more acceptable than working in a shop and I you think so you're an "idiot" in my opinion! I just got on with it and that's what this person should have done, some people are clearly too precious!
Jackubu Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Well it's a club shop, I'd imagine they want people who want to buy their products rather than stand in the way looking for scores or warmth. Then you could look at the idea its a family stand with predominantly children. This could possibly mean the club is actively against families seeking warmth in a HT break. It is a cynical view point i know but it is a view point you could take

No, they shouldnt be more prepared for abuse. Why should they? Why should a steward "expect" to be abused? Just because hes a steward and the only thing thats not another fan in your vicinity makes him/her an appropriate target for your vitriol? Their demographics and earnings are irrelevant. Its about your behaviour as a person.

I just got on with it and that's what this person should have done, some people are clearly too precious! Ofcourse you should expect it as a steward, just as you should expect it as a police officer. I don't condone it for one second - no one should be abused doing their job. BUT some jobs come with that element and if you cant handle that, don't sign up for it. Working as a retail assistant in a family shop should not carry that risk. They sign up to sell scarfs, not keep law and order. Simple as.

It is a cynical view point i know but it is a view point you could take Well if its cold outside, or forecasted to be cold, ot just in January you're best bet is to dress up warm. If I went into Highcross, got cold and just stood in the middle of a shop, when being told to leave, my excuse of Highcross being actively against wanting warmth wouldn't stand up very well.

Mack Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 This thread is getting way out of hand. Personal insults aside a bloke got the hump because someone changed the channel on a telly, he was then rude and got punished. If he thinks it's harsh that's his look out. I'd suggest those with personal issues with each other take it up privately and this embarrassing thread is shut down.

He was never asked to leave. The club have never said you cannot go in the shop at HT to look at the scores.

My girlfriend has reynauds syndrome and manages to leave games with her fingers still attached.
Donut Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Ill rephrase what i wrote earlier: Stewards will KNOW that abuse will come their way over the course of the game. Because when youre dealing with a large volume of people there will be bad eggs in there. But i dont think you can say a person should EXPECT to be abused in their job. Thats just like absolving those giving the abuse of any blame for their behaviour.
