City fan banned from stadium for calling someone an idiot

Come on, that's not verbal abuse. And it's not worthy of banning someone from the stadium.

I think they have every right to ban him from the fanstore and make him apologize. People don't get paid enough to suffer abuse at work from grown men. Sets a really good example to his son, and I doubt idiot was the only word used somehow. Like I said, a match ban does seem excessive.

The 3 game ban's a bit harsh, but if someone came into my store and started calling the staff idiots, they wouldn't be welcomed back either.

Imagine having the same LCFC shirt for the last 5 years, then finally going to buy the new one and check the scores at half time and getting carried away and coming out with a 3 game ban and a naughty contract! Idiot!

A three match ban is very harsh for what has allegedly happened. Surely an apology would have been sufficient in the circumstances. If this is the strict and exacting standards expected in the club shop then I will be expecting perfect customer service skills each time I visit as clearly they have very high standards.

Another point, if the issue is as described, this should be reported to the FSF by Steve. I know him and stand in SK1 with his son so will ask what happened.

Don't see what customer service has got to do with this. The issue is this numpty mouthing off trying to be the "big I am" just because he didn't get his own way. Even if it is as described, the club are justified in punishing him, harsh or not. Tell him on behalf of Foxestalk, no-one supports him and we all think he is a tool.

Why the fvck would you report it to the FSF for Christ sake, he's called someone an idiot and been told he's got to be a good boy, he's not been chucked away after being man handled by the police.

If you were going about your job after being told by your manager to turn the screens off and that guy in an oversized coat and a 5 year old shirt came over and called you an idiot, would you duly oblige?

There's one thing working in retail, there's another getting called names by bellends like this.

Of all the manners to approach people, he chose to use this one, so he'll have to pay the price.

Just buy another ticket in a different name, you won't get spotted unless you do something stupid.

Where are you getting this from? It says nothing like that.

You're making quite a few assumptions about something you know nothing about.

You can only go on the side of the story you've been told at the moment. And if it is how it is described, it sounds like people making something out of a nothing throwaway comment.

Again, where are you getting this from? There is no evidence thus far that he did that.

Assumptions, assumptions, as Babs always used to say.

Anyone that finds it acceptable to go into a shop and start calling staff idiots, clearly has an issue within himself. Any decent person would ask politely to keep them on and just accept it if they didn't. He thought if he played the big man and mouthed off, he would get his own way. Unfortunately he found out the hard way that he is no more important than anyone else. I don't know why you are trying to justify the actions of him.

The point I was making is that if the story is as stated it appears that there is a very low tolerance of poor behaviour and high standards expected. This of course works both ways so I will expect excellent service and respect as a customer who is complying to this expectation of being a model customer. I didn't mention it in the first post but being someone who visits the shop regularly this is certainly not the case.

If you set a certain standard then you have to live by that standard yourself. I am not suggesting Steve was right but the sanction applied seems very harsh for what was said. I certainly would like to hear both sides of the story but on the information we have this is a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

That is why I suggested reporting it to the FSF as it appears excessive and yet again seems football fans can be treated over zealously.

If further information comes to light I may change my viewpoint but I can only comment on the information I have.

Does anyone genuinely believe other establishments would ban someone for making one comment to a third party they are with that not even intended to be said directly to the staff member.

How many times have you walked away from a situation and moaned to someone you are with about something that has happened. I've done it and wouldn't expect a reaction proportionate to this. I would expect my behaviour to be pointed out to me and if I were in the wrong I would apologise and hope that would be the end of it.

There is no evidence that the employee was turning off the televisions either. All we have is a cringeworthy photo-shopped picture from a shoddy website, that claims these events happened.

All we can do is make assumptions. Seems like a very minor incident to me, not sure what all the fuss is about. People just love finding ways to criticise the club.
