Guest ttfn Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 Somebody in the Prem thread was joking about James and Drinkwater for the England squad but when you've got Cleverley walking into every squad it doesn't seem so outlandish. If somebody offered us Cleverley back now I'd tell them to do one because he wouldn't get in ahead of these two.
GingerrrFox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 People saying James and GTF look a bit heavy should find reassurance in that they are both supremely fit professional athletes. Nigel has one of the best sport science departments in English football and I am incredibly jealous to not be a part of it.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 He's an odd one. Either sublime (like our last two games) or so far off the pace it's unreal (Wednesday away.) He was like it last season too, just the proportion's changed. This year there's been a lot more of the former than the latter. He's a young lad though, so it's to be expected. Couldn't pick between James, Drinky and King. They all have their strengths.

Since he's been fit for a prolonged spell and played regularly, he's been very good. His only development area is scoring goals. I reckon this will improve
maynefox Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 James covers ground deceptively well mate. But the engine is Drinkwater. Id be surprised if there is a fitter player in the Championship than Danny. So he just runs around, just to "deceive" us fans, to make him look like he's putting a shift in?
dmayne7 Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I think losing Drinkwater would affect our success far more than losing James. So it's gotta be Drinkwater. I agree but there is a difference between 'key' and 'best', stupid as that may sound. Think that if we lost someone like Konch then we're in big trouble but I certainly wouldn't class him as the best player in our team. Same for players like Drinky, Vardy, Lloyd and even Richie. Losing one of them would really affect our style of play but I still think Kasper, Wes and King/James are better players. Its been the case with England and Rooney for years. He is vital to England but there have always been better players in our side. Having said that, it'd be interesting to see how we cope without Drinkwater. I still maintain that long-term its likely to be James and King in the middle but if Drinkwater keeps playing and improving like this, then his future could be very bright.

Arriba Los Zorros Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I reckon all round-wise, yes, although Drinks is probably more eye-catching in terms of how he plays and affects the 'business end' more. . I would hardly call MJ underrated by our fans though, as evidence by this discussion thread most realise the importance of his influence to how we play as a team. He's probably underrated / underrecognised by the average football fan and as far as I'm concerned let him go under the radar!
Saxondale Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I'm just pleased that we actually have a decent central midfield for the first time in years.
