What game could it be?

There will be no pitch invasion. Mark my words

Agree, people always go on about how there will be and how they're going to start it. But in reality pitch side will be littered with stewards and there wont be a big enough group willing to start it to make it happen.

Having never been involved in a pitch invasion am I allowed to ask what the point is? You run down loads of steps/across seats, jump the advertising boards and then what? Just stand there on the pitch?

Maybe you've got to be involved in one and feel the moment to understand why it's the holy grail to all football fans in this country but from the outside looking in it just seems a bit pointless, hardly worth some of the comments in here and the doubtless tears that will be shed by some when we inevitably don't have one.

No need to apologize, I get there was a lot of words in that post for someone clearly as simple as you.

Do you celebrate goals?

It's about the moment, the feeling. randomly hugging strangers, hoping to share the moment with a player.

What a spoil sport, the oxford game was awesome.

Whoosh.

Southend. Mental, good laugh, atmosphere with like minded people and a bit of spontaneity.

Scunny. Pre planned shit celebration. Crappy fireworks and garbage music like we are the champions, when what most really want to do is sing the clubs songs and thank the players.

Surrounded by people who had no idea who morrison was when he scored and clearly had come down for..... well I don't know what reason.

How is that 'whoosh'?

The Scunthorpe game isn't comparable because we were already promoted.

Yes. I celebrate goals in the stand and it's boss for 45 games of the season, was merely asking why it would be deemed a failure to celebrate this game in the stand too.

Ahh, see, that's what I was saying. You've invaded the pitch at the Oxford game so obviously know what it's like and say it's "the moment, the feeling".

I was just wondering, that's all. The main thing that made me question how amazing they are is that if you look through the (countless) threads on here called "favourite moment" or "best goal you've ever celebrated" etc I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention a pitch invasion in the 100s of replies. If we get promoted at home and invade and I'm there I'm sure I'll join in, then once I've experienced it I'm sure I'll be able to join in the chats about how marvellous a thing it is.

It's a shame there's not Youtube clip of that Oxford match in 1991. Or Scotland fans in 1977 for that matter.

If you've ever seen those I don't think it needs much explaining.

Yours is a similar question to 'what's the point of going in a crowded pub before the match?' or 'what's the point in people standing up and singing?'

There is no 'point' in having fun. It's just fun.

No, I get that it's probably fun for a bit. It's just that these threads crop up every year (when we look like we might do something good) and to some it seems like the be all and end all. Some comments in previous years make it seem like some people would rather not get promoted if we didn't have a pitch invasion at the end of it.

I remember in the league one season they were saying over the tanoid system that if we invaid the pitch they will not parade the trophy

Well that wont happen if we finish 2nd

Your a scouser. Whats the point in robbing cars, getting a perm and wearing a shell suit?

I just see it as the best way to celebrate a promotion, myself. They don't happen every season and I want the celebrations to be particularly special if it happens.

It's not so much the initial running on the pitch, it's thousands standing together on the pitch singing, hugging the players, lifting them on shoulders.

Imagine this at the KP lol

I'd put a lot of that down to the fact we never have one.

Ok there isn't really a current game that's comparable, Oxford at Filbert St, was the last time we achieved something really special at a home game.

Brighton under adams is maybe the closest, but that promotion had been coming for a long while, I can't say I really remember over celebrating that one.

For me the fact (and this isn't a slagging of people who can't go every week etc) I suppose at home with a full house it actually feels a little bit sanitised.

for me the Stoke play-off game, the cardiff game, the forest game, the watford game, the southend games, they are all much more memorable than anything other than Oxford.

I know more fans get to see it at home, but for some reason it just doesn't feel as fun.

It's not a marvellous think, it's just spur of the moment, against Oxford it was great, the spurs one felt a bit forced and had no real point, I suppose it depends on your personality and the moment, as I say the promotion under Adams felt like it had been coming for a long time, so never had the edge and the tension staying up did.

I think it would take it being against a local rival or maybe QPR to real enjoy it this time round and obviously for it to be a rival isn't going to happen at home.

Yeah I get that actually, a last minute goal to seal promotion of whatever then yes on the pitch to celebrate that all day long.

If we win the league at a canter (if... IFFF) then I dunno, would just seem very rehearsed and pointless to run on the pitch at full time when in reality we'd been promoted for a few weeks. Like I said if I get down for the promotion game and 10,000 lads are on the pitch then I'd happily join in.

Only thing I can imagine is a quick round of applause and everyone shuffling off home early to beat the traffic and go to bed with a cup of coco.
