Jimothy Posted 7 February 2014 Posted 7 February 2014 I can't discuss this, I get too emulsional..... Don't worry, we'll try to gloss over it.
lavrentis Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I see this thread didnt get deleted. Genuinely shocked
separator Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 All this talk of paint has got me watching old episodes of Brush Strokes on YouTube on a boring night shift, recalling the adventures of cheeky chappy painter and decorator Jacko. Top British comedy.
Webbo Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 yes If you're in a hurry there is spray paint called stain block that you can seal the area with that dries in 15 minutes and then paint over. Alternatively paint over the patch with some oil based paint like gloss or satinwood and then over paint a day or two later.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Righto thanks. I've got stain block but a decorator at work was tellng me to use sugar soap too? What paint must you use in a bathroom?
Webbo Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Sugar soap is for washing down, it won't get rid of stains unless they're just on the surface. You can use a good quality vinyl matt in a bathroom but a vinyl silk or even better acrylic eggshell is more common

I painted our bathrooms with some paint which is supposed to have microscopic reflective bits in so it makes rooms look brighter. Does this work? My other half wants some of the walls painted again. I only did it 18 months ago and it looks fine to me. I also painted the small downstairs bathroom in buttermilk, which sounds nice and looked nice on the tin, but always makes me think of disease when I go for a wee in there now. ps - I don't want to get anyone in to do the painting because I don't agree with paying someone to do something (well) that I can do myself (badly). pps - also applies to laminate floors.
Webbo Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Is it really made from eggshells? No I painted our bathrooms with some paint which is supposed to have microscopic reflective bits in so it makes rooms look brighter. Does this work? I used some once and couldn't see much difference.

Webbo Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Webbo, where stocks Farrow and ball nearest us, syston area? I think Brewers in town stock it but I wouldn't bother, it's overpriced shit.
Strokes Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I think Brewers in town stock it but I wouldn't bother, it's overpriced shit.Thanks. A customer has been very specific in a restoration project so its not something I can avoid.
jonthefox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I can't discuss this, I get too emulsional..... I'll get you're under coat.
Strokes Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I'll get you're under coat.This is wearing a bit thin.
Rincewind Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 When bored with nothing to do Start a watching paint dry thread It still may make you feel blue Until you can mark it down as red. I'll try not to get paint on my coat as I leave.
Kitchandro Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Ok now we've used the paint drying front for a page can we get back to talking about boobies?
One Legged Beaver Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 http://metro.co.uk/2012/01/09/watching-paint-dry-championship-attracts-international-interest-279060/ It's a shame that it hasn't made an appearance since 2012. I don't know if the Fédération Internationale de Séchage de la Peinture Association are aiming to just have a world championship every four years like other popular sports though.
ozleicester Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I think Pyros are great, but NOT in the family stand.

My dad adopted this attitude when renovating our old kitchen and bathroom. His tiling looked shit. Just to save him a few pennies as well. Get the professionals in and have the job done properly

Webbo Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 Decorating our kitchen and I've literally been watching paint dry most of today. So fed up with waiting I've called it a day. Kitchen is out of bounds so it's chips tonight.
