Leicester City Fan Kit Designs 2014/15

Away kit is nice

I concur. Just make the badge a little easier to see and that's a good'un. Not sure the owners would be too keen on having the tiny sponsor, though ;)

The below link shows all the professional clubs Genesis supplied kits to last season. Hover over the badges and there are basically 2 generic templates (I think the other templates are from the season before). I'd say it's pretty much certain we will have the same template as either the new wolves and cliftonville kits or the watford and crawley kits.

Why would we want a Thai flag on our kit? The club is English, British maybe, not Thai.

Our owners seem very respectful of that, to be fair.

We're Thai-run, and they want us to be a big hit over there. By having a Thai flag as part of a kit design that would link Thai people's national pride with pride for our club.

Note that most suggestions of this nature are NOT to do with the home kit (and I think our owners will respect that as part of the clubs identity) - but instead involve a subtle design feature on the away kit. Nothing major, and I think it could actually make for a very well designed kit.

Ridiculous. Think about what you're advocating here... Leicester City, an English club with 130 years of history, plonking a Thailand flag on one of their shirts just because we're now owned by some Thais with money.

It's no wonder Tan and co have tried what they've done at Cardiff when there are people like you who accept losing identity just because there are a few foreign money men throwing money about.

Whats wrong with welcoming a new culture to our club? Especially as they've repeatedly said that they're in it for the long haul, and seem to genuinely love our club?

Like it or not, the Thai ownership is a part of our history now. We're a premier league club with Thai owners, who want to try and get the entirety of Thailand supporting Leicester alongside us.

We are NOT going to lose identity by having a small design feature integrated into our AWAY kit. If it was the home kit, I'd understand your concern, as I would if it was a major change such as the kit essentially being cut out of a Thai flag. But that is not in any way what was being suggested. I for one would be incredulous if our owners tried anything remotely similar to what Tan has done at Cardiff, or tampered with the home kit beyond what's already been done, but with the away/3rd kit I wouldn't mind nearly as much, just so long as they are also respectful of our history (which they are).

If you think there's any sort of identity associated with our away kits, then you are the one who is mistaken. Over the years we've played in red, white, yellow, green, black, sky-blue and even brown for goodness sake, not to mention last year's grey/yellow kit, so why is it such a major issue for anyone to suggest something different when there seems to be little to no 'identity' in regards to the colour of our away strip anyway?

Out of interest - what would you have said about my recent design had the two mid-thickness red lines been absent, and if the blue bit was red instead?

Can barely believe what I'm hearing. Thailand does not form part of our history, we don't have some strong link to Thailand, the country is not part of my club. Do Manchester United have links to Scotland because of Fergie? Or the US because of the Glazers? It's extremely tenuous at best.

I can see what you're getting at but you've made the mistake of equating the owners with an entire country. They aren't the same thing.

Okay, fair enough, saying the Thai link is part of our history was tenuous and I got (very) carried away in my own argument. I seem to be doing that an awful lot lately...

I still fail to see why having a Thai flag as a small part of the design of our away kit is such a despicable idea, though...

Wow. I don't know where to start....

"seem to genuinely love our club" - Let's get this straight. No they don't. They are here as an investment, to put money into the club in order to get something back. What that is, we still don't know entirely. We think that there is nothing sinister in their involvement and that it can be mutually beneficial for both parties (if so, then great) but they are certainly not here because they love the club. If they loved the club King Power wouldn't be plastered everywhere and wouldn't be synonymous with Leicester City in Thailand. Good owners they have been thus far, their only connection to Leicester City is that it represents value for them in owning it, however much they might be enjoying the ride along the way.

"part of our history now" - Yes, part of our history but not our legacy. The Thai ownership will come and pass, Leicester City will remain. Leicester City will remain and should do so in Leicester, playing in blue, with the name 'Leicester City' and without a Thai flag on our kit (first, second, third or fourth). I have no care what colour our third kit is particularly, but a colour of the kit is completely different to an English club having a Thailand flag across their shirt. Features on our shirt should represent Leicester City (a Fox, the badge) and a Thailand flag represents only the people who own Leicester City.

"what would you have said about my recent design had the two mid-thickness red lines been absent, and if the blue bit was red instead?" - I wouldn't have cared too much. I might not have liked it, and I might have questioned if the colour schemes are Leicester City (as I did with the grey one this season) and therefore not bought it, but it would simply be a design feature which wouldn't represent anything. Add in a design feature which represents the Thai flag then it becomes something much more significant in the same way that a hammer and sickle wouldn't simply be a design feature, or that a swastika would be more than just a symbol.

It seems to me like you might have got a little too caught up in this Thai ownership thing. Let's not forget that Leicester City existed before them and will do so afterwards. Let's not forget that they've done nothing out of the ordinary for the club yet (we're back in The Premiership where we've been before and will be again should we get relegated this time around). Leicester City happen to be owned by people from Thailand and that's where the connection ends.

Maybe be reading Xen's subsequent post :wes:

I've admitted I have gotten too caught up in the whole Thai ownership thing (and not just in this thread) but Top has done several interviews where he's explicitly said that they've already got the return on their investment, and that they weren't after a monetary return.

That aside, I'm admitting that I'm getting carried away massively on the back of becoming champions and probably sound like a 12-year-old, so I'm going to stop posting anything in regards to the ownership of the club/long-term plans at least for a month or two.

Now, can we go back to people messing around in photoshop with designs which will never become reality, rather than any more unnecessary debate?  :P

The sponsorship is quite enough as Number 6 said. Having your company logo on the shirt is a perfectly good symbol of the link between them and the club. I wouldn't be too happy to see a nation's flag on our kit unless it was St George's cross. Sort of suggests the club is of that country when that simply isn't the case.

Could you try the same, just with vertical pinstripes instead? :)

Sure, any of them in particular, or all 3?

edit: NVM :D

Forgot to mask the back of the neck on the third, and missed a bit on the second though.. oops.
