Guest Col city fan Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 My opinion of Nuge has pretty much always been I'm glad we have him. He's still our best all round striker IMO. Though I hate to say it, I'm not convinced he's gonna be good enough for the Prem (if we go up) either.
LC/FC Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Wayne Rooney: Goes on purple patches of scoring spells. Gets a few goals, then doesn't for ages then a few more... repeat. Still being paid £300k/pw. Form=Sweet FA!

Though I hate to say it, I'm not convinced he's gonna be good enough for the Prem (if we go up) either. I think he'll be handy as backup, like when he and Lloyd came on against Stoke, he bagged a goal (very well placed header) and the two of them somewhat changed the emphasis of the game, so I'd keep him for that.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Bad day at the office, Lee? In general, I think we should show more signs of appreciation when players are doing well. Clapping is just one way of doing so. Maybe it gets a bit redundant for some - personally, I'd say that's one of the reasons footballers have chosen their "job" - playing well and getting positive feedback from the fans. Strikers aren't just there to score goals, they also need to play as a part of a team. This actually goes beyond football - wouldn't you like to receive a bit of praise here and there when you're doing a great job yourself? I show my appreciation all match, and at the end of a match. Not clapping him for one arbitrary minute and then going back to groaning and hurling abuse at him the next time he misses a chance.
WinslowFox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Well done Nuge, superb achievement for any striker at any level. Maybe he won't be good enough for us in the Premier, maybe he will, at the minute that is really by the by as we aren't in the Premier, so lets just appreciate what he has done for this club to date.
svensson Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Because certain people come on here and act like their level of knowledge is so high they should be presenting Monday Night Football with Gary Neville and make stupid bold and ridiculous statements to get attention like you have with Nugent. When it turns out they were talking utter bobbins, I find it's fun to point it out to them, and then watch them try and squirm out of what they said by either claiming they were right at the time, misquoted, or my personal fav, claim that we're all Leicester fans and should be enjoying the success and not dragging up all the old comments making them look stupid. I enjoy it, it passes the quiet time at work Lee. Gives me a pleasant smug feeling as well, I wont lie. Post of the year! Brilliant stuff.

Narborough_fox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Don't suppose anyone has a video of all 50 do they? Don't have Foxes Player...
oxford blue Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 I understand all the credit and well done to him, Recently he's been decent but the pressure he came under was genuine and he deserved it with the form he went on from Feb-november last year.. (Not getting into all that again) But for christ sake... Every single thing that happens at leicester city these days, Fans start saying "Lets clap in the x minute for them" "Yeah good idea" "Clap for the milkman" "Lets clap for the postman for delivering the mail" with all due respect, he's a footballer, it's his job... Clapping for the owners for the work they have done for the club is one thing.. But clapping for everything the club/players do is getting out of hand, it's suggested for everything! Good on him though, well done nuge, Keep proving my doubts this season wrong. I acknowledge you recognise he's done well recently and you don't want to get into "all that again". Perhaps it would be better to admit you were completely wrong in November (Nugent would not at City if you had your way). Sorry to pick on you, but it's interesting how views change. This is what you said in the November thread on Nugent Need to sell him on in January whilst we can still get £1 for him, going downhill, not the player that signed in the first place, and unfortunately I seemed to have been the only one that spotted it until recently.... Got slaughtered and banned 3 times .... I like nuge but hes not what we need anymore. Let him go to another championship club and get a striker in who can play well consistently. it makes it worse that nugent has been like this since the turn of the year but a few penalties have shadowed the fact hes not good enough anymore... Sell him before we lose him for nothing. Sell him in January. or we might aswell give up. He wont get us anywhere. Contract running out, the blokes not interested.

I did say that... and the only bit that was slightly wrong was "not what we need anymore" as he has proven he can hit form again... Apart from that up to November/Late December... Everything I said was being spouted by hundreds of foxestalk members... His form warranted criticism. And I still think he wont cut it in the premiership. possibly why he's not had a contract offer as of yet.
Dan Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 I like Nugent. He's not an outstanding player but he's a pretty good all-round one. I always liked him before we signed him too. I definitely think he's gone a little downhill although I do wonder if that's just the players around him improving. But I think the majority of this league would snap your hands off for him.
jammie82uk Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 i have said before and will again i really don't understand the criticism the guys been getting i personally think he's having the best season he has had for us since joining scored more goals already then any other season more assists then any other season and all this from by playing a more deeper role and not being the out and out striker he has been in previous seasons 16 goals and 9 assists from 31 starts and only having completed 14 of the games is a very decent return in my opinion just to throw in a comparsion Vardy has 12 goals and 3 assists from 29 starts and only completing 12 of them

For a start he's won 7 penalties himself! Just saying
