Collymore Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Link here: http://filbospirit.wordpress.com/2014/02/24/team-bonding/ It was 29 June 2010 when it happened. I, like 99% of brain-wielding City fans, was left stunned. Gutted. Furious. Milan Mandaric had just insulted the Club, intentionally or otherwise by stating that "Nigel's done a fantastic job. It would have been wrong of us to deny him the chance to speak to another club." That other club was Hull City. The ever-patronising Serb had gone too far this time. All the hard work in the previous two years had gone up in smoke. Whether it was Mandaric's ego, the demands of the new owners or something else we will likely never know unless our Nige releases an autobiography. A likely story. In one fell swoop we had lost our Manager and a revered coaching staff. The job Steve Walsh and Craig Shakespeare had done in restoring our pride can never be underestimated. Pearson would be the first to tell you that. The team unity - with each other and the fans - was obliterated. Many of those that were ecstatic at Southend in seeing us win promotion and League One will say it was the closest they had felt to the side in decades. Those that felt the pain 12 months later in Cardiff will say the same. Seeing Waghorn seemingly glued to the turf with his tears was almost impossible to take. Seeing Andy King et al come right over to our away end amidst the chaos of a pitch invasion, kissing and patting the badge meant everything at that moment. Putting the disappointment of Cardiff aside for one moment, it was a hell of a time to support Leicester. We could be proud of our lads that overachieved that season. Pearson had done a remarkable job. Yet not enough. Disastrous stints by Sousa and Sven followed setting us back what seemed like years. As we adjusted to being 'big-spenders' cash was thrown unashamedly at has-been after never-was as we tried to buy promotion. It was embarrassing. Then on 15 November 2011 the Thai owners made their second biggest call ever. They brought back Pearson, who set about righting the wrongs of the wasted 18 months at once. Those deemed not fit for the job were shipped on - some more swiftly than others. Players brought in had to show that they cared; that they wanted to win promotion for Leicester and were willing to do everything for the cause. Mistakes were made along the way and there was a time where it looked like all was lost. Our plummet from first in January was at best concerning but the rally to beat Forest and what happened at Watford led to the biggest decision the Thais have made: that of keeping Pearson. The events in May 2013 unified the team, the coaching staff and the fans. The lack of transfer activity in the Summer and January has allowed Pearson to work with a tight-knit group, getting closer by the day. The rescue of points against Watford and Forest inspired over 27,000 City fans to attend the Ipswich game. Fans are coming back. They are falling back in love with the Manager and his players. Whether it's Tony Knockaert's incessant drumming up of support on Twitter for his non-sale, Moore, Schlupp and King coming through the academy to play their parts in a brilliant team or Jamie Vardy's transformation from part-time-villain to better than Wayne Rooney, we as fans are lapping it up. There is nothing better than being proud of the players that pull on your Club's shirt every week. For too long we could not say that we were. Now Pearson has made it so, for the second time. Just watch this video from the tunnel after Saturday's game and smile. Team spirit goes a long way and we as fans have a role to play in that as we approach May. Continue to give everything you have in supporting the lads, starting this week with the introduction of Union FS' area in SK1.The wins will come. Have to disagree. Sven was good.

UpTheLeagueFox Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 And to think that some still refuse to give Pearson any credit, either suggesting someone else is pulling the strings down there or because it's a shiiiit league... *shakes head*
Gforce19 Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Everything being said is true , I personally feel like it is a dream, I am asleep and Leicester keep winning home and away, the endorphins keep flowing through my blood and the dream gets better and better with each moment, now we even have team bonding captured by tunnel cam. The dream is happening and each time I read Foxestalk the dream turns to fun and laughter as the reality of our form continues. Still asleep I dream of Forest fans bitter at our success. I dream of opposition managers shaking hands with NP saying we are the best team in the league by a mile, then suddenly I start sweating , the dream is changing there are clouds on the horizon , the moments of joy become hazed as I wake up with a jolt, I realise we are bottom of the premier league and the month it is Sept 2014. Did my dream really happen or was it my imagination, it can't have been happening it was too good to be true , then I realise NP is being slated by all and sundry and yes he is going to be sacked by the Thai owners for not enough experience at the highest level. Confidence has gone and we are in a living hell of fighting for our lives in the ever demanding premier league, the living NIGHTMARE is happening, Oh why did I have to wake up when everything was so good back then in my dream of winning the Championship with everything going so well was just so amazing, give me a sleeping pill I don't want this to end.
Dan Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Just me... or does anyone else think Pearson sees a bit of himself in Wasilewski? I was too young to remember Pearson as a player but he sounds a very similar style one to Wasyl (although not as dirty), both happened to come back from a leg break as well....
CountesthorpeFox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Love it.Why does Drinky look so down and get such a half hearted embrace (in comparison) to the rest? Seemed strange.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Have to disagree. Sven was good. Pipe down Ulrika...
astoriafox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Absolutely spot on! Thank goodness we have given him time to nurture a team and squad! Long may it continue, even if we go up and next season prooves to be a long and hard and disappointing one! (Hopefully not though) We cannot buy success, we have to build it, no matter how long it takes. At last we have stability and hopefully will have for many years to come!
chrishlcfc Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Love it. Why does Drinky look so down and get such a half hearted embrace (in comparison) to the rest? Seemed strange. I think it's because he looks like quite a shy and laid back character who just wants to get on and do his job on the pitch which is what he is excellent at. players like knocky and maybe wood he likes to embrace and show them some love because he thinks they need some love showing to them, knocky especially seems to enjoy being embraced by everyone. each player has there own way of being handled and I think its all superb man management by nige
ozleicester Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Nige and Was Nige and Wood Nige and Wes Nige Cheeky handshake with Aaron Cresswell as well if he;s anywhere near as good as people say.. nice move Nige, one for next year?
Bluearmy 316 Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Yet Nigel still has his haters unbelievable! Really really hope he gets a long term contract and even if we go up and come back down we keep him really believe Nigel Pearson can become our fergie or Dario and be here for 10-15 years.

I would love that. I'd be happy if he was given a 10 year contract right now.
Dan Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 As would I. I wouldn't expect him to set the Premier League alight immediately but he's always improving and exploring as a manager and that's absolutely vital for development IMO. He has a hell of a lot going for him.
AyewJoking Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 so were all in aggreement that next season if we are in the bottom 3 all the time and losing while playing poorly that we will stand by Pearson and always remember that we wouldnt even be there if it werent for him. its easy to have a great team spirit when things are going well but it means nothing if it we cant maintain it when times are hard.
CPW22 Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 First time on here in a few days so behind on the threads. Extremely good article.

Yep.
Oxshottfox Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 I have been supporting Leicester for almost 30 years and have seen som terrible managers (Sven for me was abysmal). Pearson is good enough to go on to be a ferguson like manager, I think it more likely we lose him to a bigger club than he is fired.
gerrytaggart Posted 27 February 2014 Posted 27 February 2014 Its a total coincidence that after Ben Marshall left the club the team spirit soared.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Its a total coincidence that after Ben Marshall left the club the team spirit soared. Talented, in occasional spurts, with a lot of off-field baggage. Not all signings come off and he was sold for more than we paid for him and the team ethic is now stronger. Pearson and his staff sussed him out quite quickly. If a player can't fit in, or in certain cases refuses to, then it's best all round if he's moved on.
