shade Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 If it's genuine stuff it should be mentioned, if its the usual "does your boyfriend...etc" I dont see a problem with it and think people should grow a pair of balls. yes, because negatively alluding to a stadium full of people's sexuality on the basis of the town they live in is just banter. brilliant.
Buzzell Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 You should probably wait for the end of the programme before lambasting others!! Think I'll keep my mouth shut until the end

Lineker's Left Foot Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Don't worry about Forest, won't be playing them next year anyway as they apparently have 37,564 players out injured so aren't going anywhere ....and they don't care about us anyway
Guest MattP Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 yes, because negatively alluding to a stadium full of people's sexuality on the basis of the town they live in is just banter. brilliant. Yep, is in my opinion. That's my definition of "banter" in fact. Is it really any different to singing Scargill songs v Sheffield or benefits songs like we did at Brum, both linked to events from that City. Couldn't care less what others think to be quite frank.

I'm sure Nick Griffin doesn't care what others think either.
Guest MattP Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 What a ridiculous comparison. Never seen Godwins law whipped out so quickly.
shade Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 What a ridiculous comparison. Never seen Godwins law whipped out so quickly. come on matt, don't pretend you're that far removed from him! wow, that program was incredibly crap, 25 minutes long.
Ash79 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Without prejudice and from experience Leicestershire Constabulary are broadly known for 'soft policing' tactics compared to the West Midlands Constabulary who 'CS first ask questions later' the whole show makes a pretty sorry story for modern football... Seems to me the stewards/Police are happier nicking fans for persistent standing (easy collar) rather than dealing with the more difficult issues.
KFS Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Couple of observations: The lad shouting "murderers" obviously has some hate filled anger, wouldn't that be better channelled actually fighting "Taliban" rather than shouting it toward a crowd populated by women and children, and more to the point, people who aren't in the fvcking taliban? The two clubs shown abusing Leicester were both the first to ridicule our home support, doesn't that just say it all? If I were a target for their archaic views then I know where I'd be spending my Saturday- as far from the KP as possible. Disgusting, it really made my blood boil. My observations were purely on the lads chanting however and whilst I found it disgusting, I'm also one of the bigger media critics that you would come across. I didn't like the superiority complex that journalist had, and when you look at it logistically you can't really do much about these problems when the game is finished- something that they made out to be scandalous. The footage of the Leicestershire policeman was more positive than I anticipated, the way in which the journalist was hounding the Chief Constable, I was expecting the PC to retaliate with racist comments himself. The problem there wasn't with the reports of racist abuse per say, it's that most PC's are reluctant to report ANYTHING because of the bureaucracy that it involves. So ultimately what the journo was looking for is a non-starter, he was trying to target (some may say reignite) the institutionalised racism within the police force issue.
Guest MattP Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I'm miles removed from him, he's a socialist for a start.

Soup Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Hate programs like this,it is sad that there are still people with these views. But you'll never stop it completely and it's foolish to think that it will happen. No one should be judged on race, sexuality or beliefs but life isn't like that. We've been around 2000 years and hate in some form has too,but one man and C4 film crew saying football is sick is a waste of time.

The God Emperor Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 pretty much what I expected, was suprised a big wagging finger didnt come out of my tv screen
Babylon Posted 3 March 2014 Author Posted 3 March 2014 fair enough, out of interest do you drive a 4x4, Beemer or merc and talk very loudly and importantly on the phone in public? Nick Griffin is one thing... But Suggesting he is Jeremy Clarkson is below the belt.
Dan Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 So the two fanbases spotted doing it were Millwall (South London has as many immigrants per person as Leicester surely?) and Forest (Who all spunk their pants over a Kuwaiti, someone I'm sure who'd be seen as a 'paki' if they lived in Leicester). They're idiots but that documentary was shite. I think there's genuine hatred from some and there's light hearted stuff from others (see Burnley fans). Although as someone who wouldn't be targeted for abuse traditionally, it's hard for me to comment fairly.

I would think it was an appalling opinion and I don't see it as remotely comparable to a group of people singing a song taking the piss out of a town as it's the gay capital of the country.

The fact it's being brought up at all is in some way saying it's not right and something to be ashamed of.

And why do you think they use that to take the piss? Because they think it's wrong? Something to be ashamed or embarrassed about? Whilst the words might not seem as shocking as the other stuff, the reason it's brought up is the same. The town full of p's isn't aimed at Asians particularly, it's aimed at a mostly white crowd. And it's done for exactly the same reason as the stuff above you think is ok. Because they are making out there is something wrong or shameful about it, something embarrassing to try and rubbish another's city.

"We can see you holding hands" - is that really that offensive? Putting everything that was shown in that programme in the same bracket is a mistake. The problem is with the genuine abuse and hatred, not with light-hearted (albeit boring and overdone now) songs.
