I would think it was an appalling opinion and I don't see it as remotely comparable to a group of people singing a song taking the piss out of a town as it's the gay capital of the country.

well I did say an extreme example,

but some folk believe your opinion is appalling, and to say you don't care what they think because only yours matters and you will continue to do what YOU think is right is a shocking attitude to have in life

I completely agree that too many people are too easily offended, part of the enjoyment of rivalries is getting under the opponents skin is to get them angry & annoyed

but im afraid you are going to have to come up with more intelligent & inventive ways to hurt them because as equality laws go from strength to strength, your opinion will be in the minority

And why do you think they use that to take the piss? Because they think it's wrong? Something to be ashamed or embarrassed about?

Whilst the words might not seem as shocking as the other stuff, the reason it's brought up is the same.

The town full of p's isn't aimed at Asians particularly, it's aimed at a mostly white crowd. And it's done for exactly the same reason as the stuff above you think is ok.

Because they are making out there is something wrong or shameful about it, something embarrassing to try and rubbish another's city.

Just because you take the piss out of something doesn't mean you think it is wrong.

Fat people get the piss taken out of them at the footy, I don't think obese people are abnormal.

As Dan says, complaining about "we can see you holding hands" - for me that's just pathetic and it will probably encourage people to carry on and do it more rather than the opposite.

Do you think people should be arrested and charge for singing that?

"We can see you holding hands" - is that really that offensive?

Putting everything that was shown in that programme in the same bracket is a mistake. The problem is with the genuine abuse and hatred, not with light-hearted (albeit boring and overdone now) songs.

But they didn't just sing that for starters did they. And as I said above, you have to look a bit deeper at why things are being said.

see I disagree with you there, fat people are more 'abnormal' than pakistanis and gay people. with a tiny exception, being fat is a choice, and if you're being harsh, makes you fair game.

Because taking the piss out of tubbies is funny.

Typical Forest and Milwall unfortunately. Uneducated racists. This Dispatches doc. Didnt even show the half of it....the footage was very tame compared to what they are really like.

ABsolutely, it's aimed at whites but you can imagine being 'brown' and how you must feel, your the thing they are trying to embarrass you with!!  Not to add the negative power that word has!!

Mind you, if they followed these guys for that amount of time and that was the worst they can come up with its clear huge strides have been made.

At Euro 2000 England fans regularly chanted far worse stuff and it was hardly a minority.

Andy Holt is a stain on the planet - felt sorry for the journo trying to get answers from him. He acted like a child. The guy is the biggest opposition the Safe Standing campaign has. The sooner he is removed the better for everyone.

What was up with those little Everton fans chanting about Sturridge.

That was the most shocking thing on the show for me, genuine nasty racism that should be severely punished.

Really feel we trivialise that by aligning it with songs about bumming people.

No 30years ago both sides would have laughed.

Now the PC brigade are here you can't joke.

We all know every male in Brighton is not gay but you can't joke.

years ago I worked with a black doorman in a club he answered to the N word and had no problem with it.

One night I asked him about it he said "It's just a word and most that use it are not racist but put the word fvcking in front and I'll rip your head off"

Not saying anyone should be abused but sometimes if in jest should it not be taken as what it is ment.

Is this publicity not what they crave that and the attention.

Surely you thought the West Ham fans at Spurs were worse?

Edit: Or at least as bad.

It was seriously disgusting, especially considering they have black players in their team too! Little fvcking cretins.

Not really.

Heard that before (the hissing the was even common from our lot at filbo)

I don't think Spurs fans will get too upset about a song about foreskin and Hitler really isn't coming for them.

Abit different here mate, the intent on terraces isn't in jest especially the n and p word, it's used to degrade those people and those people from that town  Nothing nice about it at all.  I've got mates now, we in jest call each other racial terms, totally different scenario!!!

Both are abhorrent and the guilty parties should be severely punished. But personally, I think that hundreds of people taunting a club with a significant proportion of Jewish fans (potentially Holocaust survivors & their families) with chants about Hitler and mimicking the sound of gas chambers is on a different level to a handful of moronic teenagers using the N word. Of course both are disgusting, but the West Ham fans shocked me a lot more.

Holocaust survivors?

I don't think so somehow!

A lot that called him it he did not know just his attitude to it was play up you make them worse and give them ammo.

Ignore some of it they get bored.

I am not saying it is nice or right I don't agree with it that was his take.

Also from a different time and different attitudes.

if fat people don't want to be ridiculed for being fat, they can lose weight, its ENTIRELY in their hands, if you think otherwise then nobody will ever change your mind on the subject

religion is more complicated on every level.
