What's different about the Holocaust? If you can see that it's wrong to refer to a black person using that word, why do you think we should accept the fact that some people find the murder of 13,000,000+ human beings funny?
Zapp Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Horse hockey. Religion is entirely in the brainwashed believers hands. I think with your strikeout you've proven my point
Guest Bilo Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Mobs and Yobs on Channel 5 just had a feature of this seasons game against Barnsley and they waited till the end of the game to "kick out" some bloke who had been banging on the back of the stand. Whoever that blonde **** is who was in charge is an absolute ****ing bitch and deserves a slap. She was literally gagging to make some sort of action for the cameras. She is literally a grade A ****. Fvcking hell mate, try to lower your standards when you're out if being knocked back has that impact.
Guest MattP Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I'm sure you've probably been to or seen a comedy show where someone refers to a black person using the n word. If you can see that it's wrong to refer to a black person using that word, why do you think we should accept the fact that some people find the murder of 13,000,000+ human beings funny? Well it does actually, people are allowed to find whatever they want funny. As far as I'm aware, we haven't jailed anyone yet in this country for laughing. Chanting about a historical event isn't as bad for me as directly racially abusing a footballer. That's not to say I condone the former though.
FuriousFox46 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 You can find things offensive without being the target. Of course you can. I was talking people telling Asian or gay people what chants they had and hadn't ought to find offensive when they themselves are neither.
GingerrrFox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Fvcking hell mate, try to lower your standards when you're out if being knocked back has that impact. You need to watch it. She was on the biggest power trip ever, there was about 20 people banging on the back of the stand and she picked on this 1 bloke to "make an example of". She came across like a massive ****. Definitely deserved a slap.
Master Fox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 It's all idiot thicko lad gutter shit. None of these people would dare chant any of that rubbish to an asian, black, jewish, or gay person outside of their cretinous group of deluded imbecile mates or football group on the stands. I think Jason Roberts should show a bit more steal about the twitter thing. I don't think people should cry about what they read on the internet no matter what the content. Just laugh at it. You know what the type of people who spout racist shit are like, or alternatively just don't use the site.

Definitely deserved a slap. I did watch it, and she came across as somebody abusing her power. That being said, she didn't elicit that amount of anger in me for two reasons. Firstly, I knew where her orders were coming from. Secondly, the bloke's pink scarf was fvcking criminal.
Master Fox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Comedy clubs and football stands are two different entities. A comedian has the skill to make a joke using the N word because of the context it's used in. But a group of scraggly pasty white scouser morons are clearly using it with malicious intent.

You shouldn't just shrug your shoulders and hope it goes away. What made me angry was despite having reported abusive chants the journalist was told that Leicestershire police had received no complaints.

That's not to say I condone the former though. But it's not just chanting about a historical event, it is abuse aimed directly at the Jewish Spurs fans. Some of whom may have survived the Holocaust, lost family members and friends because of it (I assure you that is very possible, even though you're apparently so ignorant to the issue that an hour or so ago you thought every holocaust survivor had died). I believe that you jumped to condemn people joking about one old woman dying of old age little under a year ago, is that right? Now you're basically saying that people have every right to make as many jokes about the systematic murder of millions of people (whether you find them funny or not) as they like. Unless my memory is playing tricks on me there's something really, really wrong with the way your brain works. Either way normal people like us can't take a 'some people will always find the holocaust funny, some won't approach', we need to do everything in our power to make sure these morons are found and educated.
fuchsntf Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 You would have to be a right blimp for me to take the piss out of your weight. No I am 6.2 and 90lbs, I am just weird, I dont believe taking the pss out of anybody, repeatingly is amusing, usually find thePeople who do , are deflecting and running away from problems they have themselves. Banter the odd witty remark, even in black-humour, in the pub or on the terraces is often side breaking funny, continous...only boring. Oh myself , I am just ugly, even my kids call me Yeti, I had a great chat up line that never failed.... 'I hear you like filmstars, and stuntmen ..Hey I am Frankensteins double '........... So what travelled the world ,seenitdoneit, but had the honour to go out with beautiful women, eventually married one took the life as it comes, never took the pss.. Goodboy I am
Kitchandro Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 And why do you think they use that to take the piss? Because they think it's wrong? Something to be ashamed or embarrassed about? Whilst the words might not seem as shocking as the other stuff, the reason it's brought up is the same. The town full of p's isn't aimed at Asians particularly, it's aimed at a mostly white crowd. And it's done for exactly the same reason as the stuff above you think is ok. Because they are making out there is something wrong or shameful about it, something embarrassing to try and rubbish another's city. Exactly, isn't that banter? Turn anything famous/stereotypical about a City into a stick to beat them with. 'Town full of pakis' probably goes too far. But why do we always have to be so hysterical? It's not crime of the century. It's childish, neanderthal 'humour' that alludes to the very basics of football banter. Most of what we are subjected to, and Brighton for that matter, is just very boring, very unimaginative, but harmless. I really can't see why people take it so seriously. It's not genuine racism or homophobia because largely it's not based on genuine hate. I don't think these chants are big or clever but I can't bring myself to be outraged by it. It's not really Russia or Serbia is it?
Guest MattP Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Putting words in my mouth again. Do you realise people can separate a joke amd reality? You can laugh at a joke about something and realise the grave horror of the event. I've heard jokes about the slave trade, the Holocaust, Falklands war, floods, disasters, all horrific things but laughing at a joke about one doesn't mean you need educating on it or can't acknowledge the suffering caused. As for Thatcher, did I? I remember being disgusted with a lot of the bile thrown towards a woman who had just died but I don't think I've ever had a go or took offence at someone telling a joke, I even told a few myself.

It's not really Russia or Serbia is it? Spot on Kitch. Being offended has become this nations new national sport, some people have become secretly upset by the fact that most causes regarding equal rights have now been won by their ancestors so they have to founfd things like "we can see you holding hands" chants and try and build them up to be homophobic. Its hysterical and I can't help but think they are doing more harm to their cause than good as it makes them look ridiculous to normal folk. They are the ones who need educating.
Kitchandro Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 This idea that banter (what ****ing shit concept that is) is harmless is misguided at best. To claim it is not genuine is baffling. I think you need to look up the definition of banter. If it's genuine it's not banter is it. Jeez. Of course it's harmless. Any reasonable human being would suffer no long term ill effects from it. Or even short term ones really. People really do take far too much notice of what a group of probable idiots half heartedly come out with.
Jace Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Damn missed it not on that channel 4 player thing either

I think if the 'jokes' you're laughing at are people singing 'Hitler's coming for you' and mimicking the sounds of gas chambers at Jewish people (which is what your original 'some people will find it funny, some won't' comment was in response to) then you absolutely are a moron and definitely do need to be educated about it. As for Thatcher, did I? I remember being disgusted with a lot of the bile thrown towards a woman who had just died but I don't think I've ever had a go or took offence at someone telling a joke, I even told a few myself. I have a vague recollection of you getting pissy about a few of Daggers' jokes but I could be wrong.

One would assume you heard these jokes from friends or at comedy shows, contexts within which certain taboos are broken (hopefully ironically). I can scarcely recall mentioning ironic (or not) racist/homophobic chants as one of the reasons I like going to football or even as part of what creates a good atmosphere. To be honest I'm struggling to recall any time when I've walked away thinking 'I'm glad those fans claimed we were a town full of XXXXX it really added to the atmosphere' or 'that away day at Brighton was really enhanced by the hilarious chanting about holding hands because some people in Brighton are gay and when we said holding hands we didn't mean in the way you would as a child or like they do in Saudi Arabia but in a way that means you're gay because being gay is really funny because they stick their willies up men's bums and you're supposed to stick you're willy in a woman not a man)

Banter is some bollocks term for being ****ing rude to your mate which has been adopted by the spotty soccer am crowd. It's never been called banter, it was piss taking or flat out insulting someone (which is fine amongst your mates, provided they can take it). Now it's become a series of stock phrases designed to offend only you can't find them offensive because they are just 'banter'

(I think you're right but I'm interested in your reasoning).
