Don't understand the last line, far too many "patriots" going to watch their national team play football? That makes no sense whatsoever. Many racists/xenophobes/little englanders describe themselves as patriots.

It was very common amongst England fans particularly away from home. England fans, until recently, had the worst reputation in the world for football violence. The singing of 'No Surrender' can still be heard on occasions.
