World cup victory or relegation survival?

  1. 1. If only one could happen, do you choose England to win the world cup in Brazil, or we stay in the Premiership?

No, I'd be more bothered about our players performance

During the recent friendly with Denmark I was far more interested in Kasper than I was England

Yes! But that was in some meaningless friendly!

Would you want Denmark to beat England in the World Cup if the Danes were playing Kasper and England were playing no City players.

Well this thread threw me anyway.

Even if you didn't want England to win because of the players.

For the country, it would be incredible.

Plus the feel good factor it brings to the nation.

The inspiration it would be to kids.

The very thought that English people would support wales in a world cup final with England because andy king was on the wales bench makes me cringe.

I'm not sure that's what people have actually said, but if that is the case then I completely agree. Some people on this forum never cease to amaze me.

I'd take beating Man Utd over winning the World Cup.

I'd take beating Rotherham in the second round of the League Cup over winning the World Cup.

I support Leicester City. I want England to win when they play, but I really don't care too much. I'll never get as much satisfaction from any England win as I do from any Leicester win.

I would rather us stay up in the PL, than England winning the World Cup. As I England, fan obviously I want England to do well but, they will be lucky to get out of the group stage. Club football is more important than International football, do care about International footy as I watch every England game, World Cup, other games and U21 football.

Those that hate supporting certain players, which players are they? I understand Cole, Terry, Ferdinand all have shown themselves to be bellends, but of those likely to be starting I have no issues with any of the arsenal, Liverpool, Everton or Southampton lot, the only one who I understand the dislike of is Rooney, but you can't deny his ability or his attitude for England, it's just his granny shagging money grabbing antics off the pitch that I don't like.

The rest all seem like decent sorts, most of the really cvnts are out the side.

National pride > civic pride for me.

Yes we are doing very well as a football club at the moment, but if every one of our players got an offer to play at a higher level for more money they'd take it so fast they would probably forget most of their gear at the training ground.

As for our national side, they will always be ours and represent the best we can muster as a footballing nation.  Yes we are depressing and dull at the moment but i'm old enough to remember the magic of Euro 96, it was something that i'd never EVER forget.  It's pure theatre for a few summer weeks, pure football.

So for me a whole country celebrating winning the greatest tournament of the greatest sport on earth would wipe the floor with simply surviving and making up the numbers (whilst still getting dicked most weeks) in the third best league in Europe.

And if England players were allowed to move to a better nation for more money then in most cases they'd do so without giving it a second thought.

For more money? England players have donated their match fees to charity for years.

Because, in comparison to their club wages, they get peanuts.

It's fair to say it's all about how much time you spend watching each side.

LCFC: ST Holder for half of my life, any game I'm not at I always listen to it or watch when possible. In the week my mind is often on the next city game. I spend about an hour a day on foxestalk reading/posting about leicester.

England: Never been to a game, only bother watching them on TV in world cup/euro games.

So why do they play for England in the first place if money is all they care about? Why not just retire from international football at 16 and spend the entire time focussing on club football as that is what pays right?

When you were growing up and playing football, did you dream of one day scoring the winning goal in a world cup final? Or did you run around fantasising about premier league survival by scoring the equaliser in a dour 1-1 draw with Stoke City?

I dreamed about winning the FA Cup or Premier League with Leicester. But I'd have taken playing a single game for Leicester over winning a World Cup with England.

I don't think they're all motivated by money, but I don't think many footballers care that much more about their country than they do about their club.

Here's a thought, what if it was Leicester to win the FA Cup against England winning the World Cup?

Fa cup every time.

I like following england. The 1st world cup I really watched was italia 90 and I'm still gutted we never won it with all that had happened with sir bobby, gazza, big ears and our ban from european competition it was fantastic to watch a team not just 11 individuals.

and the thought of england lifting the world cup in brazil is Awesome.

However the pleasure seeing city win the fa cup rather than 17th in the top flight is just the stuff of my dreams as a young kid. The thought of my 9th trip to wembley for an fa cup final. Sodding semis. **** england.

Hmmm.

I went with Leicester on the poll but I can't agree with that.

Lifting a World Cup, as captain puts you among the all time greats and your name lives forever, only about 18-19 other people have ever done it in footballing history.

I don't care about my name living forever or being among the all time greats. I'd get much greater satisfaction from playing for the club I love.

I don't mean any disrespect but that is quite bizarre.

To be chosen to play for England is to mean being regarded as one of the best in the country, to play for an entire nation (including the mighty Leicester), to play for the nation that invented the bloody game.

England is still a national institution, Leicester City is a foreign owned company that is being run to make a profit for it's owners, nothing more than that, heck I don't even think many of our players or staff live in Leicester.  Now if we had a national league where it was eleven Leicester lads Vs eleven Nottingham lads or something I may have picked City in this poll, but that isn't the case, it's a team of eleven mercenaries currently playing for us because we pay better than most at the minute and this is their level of quality.

I also don't agree with the footballers only motivated by money thing, most international players are extremely wealthy men as it is, I actually believe that when it comes to international football, its back to square one for them, to prove themselves on the toughest stage of all without being bothered or influenced by money like they are at their clubs.
