The 2002-2003 Promotion winning squad

[Tuna]

For no reason in particular other than nostalgia, here was our squad from the 2002-03 Micky Adams promotion season, our last promotion to the premier league. I'm surprised to say there are at least 2 who are still playing in the league as well as at least 6 or 7 current or past managers.

The reason why we will not go down next season is obvious, we have young, hungry talented players who will only get better. Our last promotion squad - and the players we signed - including some really awful ones - were old stagers who were already in decline.

So here we go (Appearance / goals included) courtesy of soccerbase

[Fox92]

We did sign some poor players, Adams took gambles and he admitted that. But comparing the budget available.

[MrsJohnMurphy]

Billy McKinlay was brilliant for us that season, would have been an ideal replacement for Lennon after he went to Celtic.

[Bryn]

Davidson and O'Grady still playing is it?

He did the best he could, Adams, can't say he didn't.

[Trav Le Bleu]

Nothing short of a miracle what Adams did on virtually zero budget that season.

i think O'Grady only.

Nah, we had the players....he did a good job but miracle is miles wide of the mark, the likes of Elliot Walker and Muzzy were a class above.

[Manwell Pablo]

i think O'Grady only.

Stevensons still playing I think just at a terrible level. I'm going to check but I think Jordan Stewarts still knocking around somewhere as well.

Yep San Jose Earthquakes

[Tuna]

i think O'Grady only.

Its Jon Ashton who is still playing, Stevenage's captain.
