Grewks Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 James and drinkwater both lack a cutting edge in the final third in my opinion. They are both very good all round midfielders, but they lack the ability to move with the ball. I would be far more optimistic next season if they actually sit in front of the back four, as i think they are great at doing that, and allow a more creative player to operate in front of them...thoughts?
eye666 Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 Personally think we need a physical presence in the middle, preferably someone tall for set-pieces. Either defensive or the next Yaya, but think the squad needs a bit of physicality to compliment our ball players and French flair.
Guest LCFC_World Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 How does Mohamid Diame sound? Next thing to Yaya?..
dpjfox Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 i agree grewk , danny and matt to play deep and a new creative flair central midfielder to make up 3 centre midfield
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 I guess we all must see different things when we watch a game
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 i agree grewk , danny and matt to play deep and a new creative flair central midfielder to make up 3 centre midfield Can we afford to play with 3 flair players next season, we already have knocky and mahrez who are flair players
sdb Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 We need a physical CM for me - a stereotypical athlete I guess. Also think we need one next to Wes and a striker in that mould too.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 Don't forget that whoever we sign we probably won't of heard of them
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 All the best DM's in the Prem these days are big African blokes. Sign one up, Nige.
Stadt Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 There's some decent defensive midfielders in Germany and I'm sure they wouldn't cost the earth. Get Dejagah in as well - far and away Fulham's best player this year.
kingfox Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 I think someone like Jack Cork, would fit in well alongside Drinkwater & James, he does get game time at Southampton, but I think we could offer him more.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Suggested weeks ago.... Lee Cattermole However, having beaten Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City and others in recent times, it appears that Sunderland, with Cattermole in that deep central position, are gonna be safe. So that's probably no longer an option...
steflcfc Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 mahrez seemed to be coming inside a lot yesterday liking up with Drinkwater well. He runs with the ball at the defence as has an eye for a pass/isn't afraid to shoot. What about him in that role and another player on the wing? For the creative side not defensive.

Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Have you ever seen James or Drinkwater play? I don't think he has Drinkwater especially has been great moving the ball forward this season and he's been getting in great positions and scoring his fair share of goals
RumbleFox Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 To be fair, I think our team would stay in the leauge without any more signings. If we were only allowed to make 1 signing this summer I'd actually go for Gareth Barry and let him sit in front of the defence and have James and Drinky in front of him. Every team that is doing well in the Prem has a sitting midfielder. X
wattolcfc Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 A tall defensive mid is most certainly needed, a ball winner that breaks up play and can win the high ball battles in the middle too, not to mention helping out on set pieces.
