Silverdaz Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 You mean like our back five last season Schmichael (Danish) De Laet (Belgium) Schlupp (Ghana) Morgan (Jamaica) Wasy (Poland)
Silverdaz Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 For me, being British or English doesn't matter. Knockaert has a great attitude, works hard and seems to really enjoy playing here. If we had a squad full of players like him, I wouldn't give it a second thought. we would be relegated if we had a team full of Knockaerts but I see where you are coming from
Houdini Logic Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 we would be relegated if we had a team full of Knockaerts but I see where you are coming from Probably not with the amount of penalties we'd be awarded
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 The geezers can come from Katmandu to Baffin Island, as long as we do well.
Nick Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Probably not with the amount of penalties we'd be awarded Yeah but who'd take them.......
Bayfox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Yeah but who'd take them....... Doesn't matter. They don't count.
LAprice_ Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Few points: 1.) Whether you agree or disagree, the Premier League is a business. It's main priority is to make money. Bringing in world class players such as Aguero, Toure, Suarez, Ozil and Eto'o will make the business lots of money. It is also often said that foreign players are cheaper; they've not been through the money fueled British academy system. Michu cost 2 million. Andy Carrol cost 35 million. 2.) To me, it always seems like it's easy for us to point the finger at a club like Man City but we'd never so much as murmur when we bring in players such as Mahrez and Knockaert. I think there are also some blurred lines regarding what a foreign player is. Jeff Schlupp was born in Germany, but moved to England when he was very young. He's now been at Leicester for 9 years. Or what about Wojciech Szczseny, he's been at Arsenal since he was 16. What I'm saying is, where do you draw the line? 3.) For those of you who want more English players in the team, the current EU set-up would prevent this. I think. As far as I'm away, players living in European Union countries are free to move to England and join a squad. Any restrictions would go against the EU's policy regarding immigration. 4.) Does it actually matter?
MattGamble92 Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 Think our city needs to focus on trying to stay British before our football team
-blue- Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 I get this 'British' thing.....But! The way our current squad seem to have bonded really makes me unconcerned about individuals nationality. Losing our teams identify is a bigger concern than losing our national identity
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 Those man city players aren't being released because they're British, they're being released because they're not good enough for the current squad Would you keep any player around if they weren't good enough, just because they're British?
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 For a small town in Pakistan, we don't seem to have many Pakistanis play for us Or Singh's ? or Dr's ?
Kitchandro Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 You mean like our back five last season Schmichael (Danish) De Laet (Belgium) Schlupp (Ghana) Morgan (Jamaica) Wasy (Poland) Come one, Morgan is English. I know he's no Shakespeare (Craig or William are both better with words) but he is English, same as Andy King is. Schlupp is too based on the way he talks. You've conveniently puut Wasyl in when you could have put Moore in too. I've no problem with our foreign players but we need a mix and we've got a good one at the moment.
Kitchandro Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 And what about when Southampton's spine is as usual ripped out of them this summer? I think Southampton are very much the exception here, rather than Newcastle. Well then it's ripped out of them, it doesn't make what I've said any less true. I'm just saying it's not necessarily true that we'll need a huge influx of foreigners to progress us. Southampton are the exception - that's my point, they're doing better than every other club their size and they've done it partly because they've got some quality English players. Newcastle - bigger club, full of frogs, and worse off in the league.

FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 24 May 2014 Posted 24 May 2014 Never mind "british"I personally would prefer to see English! As much as i do love our foreign players and our english players whose parents best friend's uncle shagged a Jamaican so they play for Jamaica…
