bovril Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Does anybody watch it? I got into it on holiday in Ireland about a decade ago and it's a brilliant spectator sport, especially live (same goes for hurling). The atmosphere for big games is fantastic. Apparently Sky have started showing it. Here are a few highlights.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeZzl70YLlc
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 I'm sure that when I was a kid there was a gaelic football pitch on Western Park next to the Glenfield Road/New Parks Boulevard roundabout and they used to have regular games there.
Matt Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 I like AFL so I guess I like Gaelic, never watched any Gaelic but I believe they are the same game except AFL is professional?
Mark_w Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Gaelic Football was the most enjoyable of the sports we used to play at school. Never watched it, but if it's on Sky I'll start.
Voll Blau Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 I like AFL so I guess I like Gaelic, never watched any Gaelic but I believe they are the same game except AFL is professional? Slightly different rules. They do the occasional "International Rules" games between Ireland and Australia.
Bert Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 I like AFL so I guess I like Gaelic, never watched any Gaelic but I believe they are the same game except AFL is professional? Different ball isn't it?
Father Ted Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Used to play it for the Leicester team Naomh Padraig and played for the Warwickshire side too when I was younger. End up with dislocated fingers every other week!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 I like AFL so I guess I like Gaelic, never watched any Gaelic but I believe they are the same game except AFL is professional? Completly different AFL is actually a contact sport http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlG3qqtWNy8 Pretty sure Foxy PV plays as his main sport? Yeah he does well at least he used to.
