Xen Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 1-0 win v Everton. 3-0 loss v Chelsea. 1-0 loss v Arsenal. 0-0 v Stoke. 1-3 loss v Man United. 0-0 v Crystal Palace. 5 points, I think you will all be pleasantly surprised. Only 2 goals in our first 6 games? How depressing...
Dan Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 How does this thread currently relate to all the 'Premiership ain't all that' type posts and that we only need a couple of additions etc? Most people think we are gonna get tonked? Shall we do a last eight games prediction whilst we're at it? That first six is absolutely solid. Three of the expected top sides, Everton who are no mugs at all, and away trips to two of the notoriously hard grounds to visit. There's no shame in starting slowly as a newly promoted side if that's our first six games.

There's no shame in starting slowly as a newly promoted side if that's our first six games. And who comes thereafter? Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham Do you think West Ham will be pushovers? Southampton, West Brom away... the list is kind of endless. My point was to the 'The Premiership aint all that' type posts. Of course it bloody is However, I do think we'll survive and anything else will be a major feat in our first season back. I have no expectations to be fair.

OK, so we've named Everton, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, then partially Stoke/Palace as I've only said they're tough places to go to, there's no reason we can't beat them at home (or away for that matter), Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Southampton, West Brom and West Ham - that's 12 sides. Would you take coming 13th below those? I certainly would. There's a difference between thinking we'll stay up and thinking we won't come amongst the top sides. For what it's worth, I think we'll come above West Brom, possibly above West Ham, possibly Stoke or Palace (though that's a big ask as they're both solid), possibly above Villa, possibly above Southampton who are an unknown quantity in a lot of ways as they'll have a new side, possibly above Newcastle, Burnley, QPR, Hull etc... I will be surprised if we finish in the bottom 3. Very surprised in-fact. We've got a far more organised set up than a lot of sides.
fuchsntf Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 I believe, I am going to live the dream, this is my team, all is possble, we will prove our right to be in the PL. Everton...win Chelsea...win Arsenal...draw Stoke.....draw Man.utd...win Palace....win. First loss, whenever..
Simonb Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 Everton 2-1 Chelsea 0-2 Arsenal 0-0 Stoke 1-1 Man U 2-2 Palace 0-0 6 points thats 7 points
Grantham Fox Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 I'd be over the moon with some predictions that give us 7-8 points. I think about 3-4 points though. But honestly would anyone be surprised with 1 point or even 0? As that is a very tough opening 6 games! Over the course of the season, Palace, Stoke are the games we have to look at winning. And the occasional unexpected result. We'll stay up though I reckon, think we're about 13th-14th place, and would be very happy with that.
