Wembley

I'm on a train approaching London Euston. The sun's out, the sky's blue, it's warm outside.

The train has just shot through Harrow and Wealdstone station. This time, as opposed to pretty much all of the other times in the past ten years, I didn't have that frustrating feeling that I didn't know when I'd next see Leicester City play at nearby Wembley.

Matters less at the moment because I've equated Wembley with play-off finals rather than cup finals for the past decade or so, and we have no need for a play-off final next season.

A cup final would be nice though.

In the meantime, it's just pleasant to equate Leicester City with success and contentment.

Enjoying that while it lasts.

FA Cup winners next year. You heard it here first lads.

The amount of teams that have played there, and we haven't. Still a bit disappointed. Still think the semis of the FA Cup shouldn't be played there, either.

Wembley is just about eighteen minutes on the train from High Wycombe, and as I pass it, I always remember the 61,63 69, F.A. Cup Finals, even though the current stadium is new.

Memories that never fade, albeit we never won any.

Willesden Green tube station, just a few stops from Wembley, used to have a couple of programmes or posters (can't remember which) of Leicester at Wembley in the FA cup finals from the 60's displayed in the ticket hall. Think it was some sort of Wembley historical society display, Been a few years since I worked at that station so no idea if there still on display.

It truly is criminal that we haven't played there yet. No side has come closer yet not actually done it.

Bit of a pattern forming here...

Can anyone locate a list of teams who have played there so far? Could we be the highest ranked team who haven't played there?

Cant remember Villa, Newcastle or Southampton playing at the new Wembley but I'm willing to be proved wrong!!

Villa did against United in a FA cup semi?

Aston Villa have played their a couple of times.

They lost the league cup final against Man United 2-1, when Vidic should have been sent off. Then they lost to Chelsea in the Fa Cup semi final.

When did it open? 2007? So that's 7 years of play off finals and domestic cup finals.

Can't be bothered to look through every one of those finals, so I've put together a list off the top of my head... (will be missing loads if anyone wants to add more...)

Arsenal
Aston Villa
Barnsley
Blackpool
Birmingham City
Brentford
Bristol City
Burnley
Cambridge
Cardiff
Chelsea
Carlisle
Crystal Palace
Crewe
Derby
Doncaster
Everton
Fleetwood
Grimsby
Huddersfield
Hull
Liverpool
Leeds
Luton Town
Millwall
Manchester United
Manchester City
Peterborough United
QPR
Rotherham
Scunthorpe United
Sheffield Utd
Southampton
Sunderland
Stevenage
Swindon
Swansea
Torquay
Tottenham
Watford
West Brom (unsure about that one, though they did lose to Derby or was that in Cardiff?)
West Ham
Wigan
Yeovil
Suppose the obvious choices of never to play there include ourselves, Norwich, Blackburn and Newcastle.

WBA lost to Derby at Wembley in 2007 I think.

Can add Stoke & Bolton to that list, Stoke battered Bolton in the FA cup semi final, then Stoke lost to Man City in the final.

To be fair that'll explain why you're always so bloody miserable then... haha
